I ordered foor for 3 people one of them being my 4 year old son. We got are food and my sons food was the Alfredo kids meal. His noodles were still somewhat hard. The rest of the food was cold. Buona Beef is located right off of Army Trail Road in Glendale Heights. In passing by I decided to try their hot dog, since on previous visits I recall them having one and I've not tried it. The hot dog they serve is described as "Jumbo" and it came on an odd poppy seed bun, there appeared to be poppy seeds on both sides of the bun. The bun itself was also slightly soggy, I didn't detect any celery salt on it at all. The sausage itself was rather unique, it was gray in color and had a somewhat garlic taste to it. I'm not exactly sure what it was flavored with, but it was much much different than the standard Vienna Beef or Red Hot Chicago sausages served by most establishments in the area. Overall, I liked the flavor of the sausage. The hot peppers included were good and not too spicy. The pickle here was unfortunately a little thick and if this weren't a "jumbo" dog the pickle would have easily been thicker than the meat. The mustard and relish were perhaps applied a little too heavily as well, partly resulting in the aforementioned soggy bun. Overall, this was a pretty good hot dog. The different type of sausage and bun with poppy seeds on both sides made it unique to say the least. I would definitely try it again, I give this three stars. read more

Man wish you were good, but you're just not. Your service is horrendous. I ordered a combo with fries. The attendant did not ask if I want ketchup. When I opened my bag, no ketchup! Came to have lunch with a friend here. First timers. It was really good. The cashier lady was respectful that we've never been there. She was helpful too which I thought was cute. I ordered the Buona Beef but KIDS MEAL STYLED. My friend got a burger and soup? I don't remember the name but she enjoyed it. My total came out to be less than 7$ I believe (because I got extra stuff on it). It was tasty and the portion size was perfect. I am glad we came here. There were a lot of people also at the time. The only complaint that I would have is that the seemingly novice server at the window did not give us any napkins or condiments for our food which was strange. This is a review for their catering service. We had a family dinner catered by them recently, and they did a great job. The online ordering is very user friendly, and their customer service is amazing. We had Italian beef, 2 kinds of chicken, 2 pasta salads, and chopped salad. Everything tasted great, and they didn't skimp on servings. The prices were competitive with other catering services. Twice in 1 weekend! We went to buona in Oak Park in the 90's and loved it. Then moved West. Tried this Buona and was not impressed. 1year ago I received a coupon and we came back to this location and what an awesome experience. We joined the club and now feel it is the most fair $$ dining experience for a family to enjoy a fun meal. Salads are amazing. Pizza, our favorite being roasted veggie, is consistently delicious. Fries, I agree with other comments could be a left to cook a bit longer. Beef always a solid choice. Also love that they bring food to table and we leave dishes at table. Was looking for something more than the tired burger place. Walked into Buona and found a fun, almost sports barlike atmosphere, with tvs showing Sunday football. I was pleasantly surprised to find the menu didn't only have the tradional hot dogs and beef, but a menu which included salads and paninis. Had the chicken artichoke panini which was fresh and deliciosly seasoned. I topped my meal off with homemade parmesan chips. What a great treat at a reasonable price. This is my sons favorite restaurant because he loves the chicken strips with buffalo sauce. He orders the adult portion (4 strips) which is never enough to fill him up even with a cup of soup. I'm thankful they seem to have increased the size of each strip, it had been getting pretty ridiculous for a while and we had stopped coming because it was such a rip off. I happen to live in Rhode Island, a terrible place for lovers of quick dining/fast food (it's too expensive, too slow, too inconvenient to get to or just not that good). So whenever I head out to Chicago, I make sure to carve out some quality time with one of my heart attack friendly faves: dipped Italian beef giardiniara on the side sweet peppers optional. Buona's beef is good, quality product, well seasoned, fair pricing, I can order a junior size and au jus on the side and I'm happy as a clam until I start craving another one. My #2 at Buona is their Vendura Misto thin crust pizza, which tastes gourmet and is a quick and easy work lunch. Note to out of towners: if a native Chicagoan tells you otherwise about the beef here (and junk food in general, especially pizza and hot dogs), just know that native Chicagoans are extremely serious and opinionated about their beef, and will likely go on and on about where to go, where not to go, etc. and may defend their opinion to a death match. So what you should do is just nod politely and don't let them sucker you in to drive to a random hole in the wall an hour away for the "BEST" beef. It takes many years of regular Chicago Italian beef eating to get to the level where you really will drive out of your way, know the difference, and it'll be worth it. read more

I went through the Buona beef drive through for a dog and fries. As I was pulling the peppers off, there was a thick string of what looked like nappy white dog hair (see photo) wrapped around a pepper stretched over half the dog. I went back through the drive through for a refund. When I got to the window I told her there was hair in my hot dog and handed the hot dog over showing the pile of hair and the bag of fries and said I wanted a refund. She said ok and gave me back $2 and some change. I said I paid $5.24. This woman said "oh, was there something wrong with the fries"? Hahahahaha...is she serious! I said "I bought the rat hair dog and fries as a package, I want a refund as a package and if you weren't going to refund the fries, why did you take them? She gave me my $5.24 and I left. Her indifference was amazing...it was as though people return hair beefs, hair dogs, and hair burgers daily, she's used to it. In my case, it was an entire stack of knotted white hair! Love this place! We catered many parties from here over the years. The rewards program is easy and pays back pretty often. And the food is great! They have the best girdiniera, the grilled salmon is surprisingly good and they keep trying new things. We tried their Reuben panini, yummy! Watch out for the cheese fries, that sauce is addictive. My first time at this location at I'm slightly dissapointed, ordered the 10" beef baptized w/ mozzarella and hot peppers. Taste was really good, I think better then portillos. Quantity wasn't great, I think I had enough beef for a 6" on a 10" sandwhich. For 10 dollars I was hoping they would put more beef on the sandwhich because it felt like a was eating cheezy gravy bread for a couple bite. I don't know maybe unlucky on my visit. Let's start by me telling you that I used to always go to Portillo's in Glendale Heights for a Beef, had to stop when the prices went up & quality went down especially after it was sold. Also in between we would go to Tommys in Glendale Heights but then had the same problem, prices raised food quality down. So I went to Buona Beef and the Beef was awesome. It's kind of silly to order it in the non traditional way when you want it wet they have different words, but hey every business needs its own thing right? Either way 90% of time the Beef is always perfect, the burgers are great, the little pizzas are just right for my picky daughter so trust me your picky children will be happy. And the manager is the best. Most of his employees are great too. One lady (I never remember her name) but she always makes me special less spicy buffalo sauce to dip my fries in. You can not ask for better service than that. Sadly I don't give 5 stars because it never fails, whoever works the drive up window is always in a bad mood and it shows. This store either needs to put a more mature person on the Drive thru or get rid of it because any Drive thru issue it is usually the fault of the person at the window. Other than that go to this store & enjoy your food. It's well worth it although I think they do need to be less skimpy on the Beef. Oh, for those who complain about the fries, I agree there are never enough & if you want them crispier just ask them to keep them in the fryer for an extra 45 seconds, they will happily do so to insure you are satisfied. read more
