I've been here twice now and I'm super impressed by the food and service. I wish I lived closer! You can tell it's a family business and they put a lot of effort into their food. I got the chicken parmigiana both times because I liked it so much when I had it the first time. They serve it with a side of veggies (green beans) and warm bread. I also got to try the Caprese Salad, the Branzino (fish) entree, the Lasagna Bolognese, and cannoli. So far, the food is consistently very good. I also had a cappuccino which was good too. The service is also great. Very friendly. That casual feel that's nice to experience after a long day. The atmosphere is very casual, almost like a small hole in the wall cafe. So no need to feel like you have to dress up or sit up straight. Just a nice place to get good Italian food. I noticed that they also serve breakfast. Saw the great Yelp reviews, decided to stop by on a Sunday for late lunch takeout. We called in the order on the phone. Got parking on the side. Staff was friendly. We paid and they gave us receipt. Ordered Calamari Linguini clams Fresh branzino Gave us free bread. The food was good, everything was fresh. My fav was the linguini clams, fresh clams. Same with the branzino, fresh! My husband and I were starving l, and we were in the Pacifica area, and happened to come across this hidden gem. In three words: Hella On Point. First off, the Calamari Fritti was hella crispy and paired well with their tasty home made marinara sauce and lemon wedges. We've been looking for a great calamari go-to-spot, and stumbled upon a new great restaurant. I got the Spaguetti Carbonara and my husband got the Grilled Chicken Panini. They have their own twist on Carbonara; I suggest trying it out yourself especially if you like pancetta. The Panini came with a nice side salad and was crisp and juicy. To top it off, they have Mexican Coca Cola (500ml), and if you don't know, they don't use high fructose corn syrup, they use actual sugar. So refreshing. Glad that they have that! Definitely wanna come back to try out the other items they offer. Customer service was also on point. Shout-out to the chef for bonus calamari. Ingredients are fresh, you can really tell. Ordered: * Smoke salmon omelet * Veggie omelet * Cappuccinos Omelettes served with small green salad & buttered toast. I am not a fan of smoked salmon. That said, I tasted it and have to say it was great! The smoked flavor was not overwhelming, subtle so the salmon could shine. The veggie omelet was one of the best veggie omelets I've ever had. The accompanying green salad was fresh with a dressing that was light and perfect as a breakfast side. The cappuccino was not as strong as expected for an espresso but the excellent omelets made me forget that. Service: Counter and staff were kind and courteous. Food arrived quickly and hot. We ordered take out, and the food was very tasty. We had salad, eggplant parm, chicken parm, spinach ravioli, green beans, and lasagne. The chicken was my least favorite, it just didn't seem as fresh. I'm pretty selective/picky/high maintenance about meat- and it seemed a little off. The green beans are cooked to tender crisp perfection and you simply must order a side of those! The prices are so reasonable that we went ahead and ordered dessert as well. The cannoli were petite, delicious, and crisp enough to hold up well (meaning they won't go soggy on you). There was a hint of delectable lemon in the filling that made them the perfect closer to a very satisfying meal. My friend who recommended this restaurant said that she likes to dine in because the entire staff is incredibly friendly and she always leaves happy. I was also told that their crab ciopinno and other seafood entrees are delicious. I don't care for seafood, but it's still with worth mentioning. We drove down to Maury point to take a nice walk and of course after our long walk in the cold, we were starving! I looked up outdoor restaurants in Pacifica, and many of them were taquerias, which is great, but we just had tacos last night. So happy to find this lovely Italian café! There's just a couple of seats outside, and a few seats indoors, but the food is exquisite! I had pasta carbonara with spicy bits of prosciutto, as well as a very light cream sauce, and perfectly cooked spaghetti. My DH had one of the specials, homemade butternut squash gnocchi with butternut squash and sage, butter, wine sauce. OMG I will have to get that next time! Except as I went to bring our dishes in, I saw a family who were all eating the spaghetti and meatballs, and that looked amazing as well. Obviously, I can make spaghetti and meatballs at home, but this looked particularly tasty. I also love that when he asked if he wanted something to drink, I said do you have wine or beer? He said yes would you like red or white? I said OK one glass of red and one glass of white. No, what he meant was choose from one of these many bottles of red for a glass and choose from these other bottles of white for a glass. They had a range of wines - basic but lots of choices. You might pass this place by as it looks very nondescript and more like a coffee house. But the food is delicious, the people who run it are lovely, and it's a great value! I meandered in one day for lunch before work. I've been stopping by at least once a week since then. Everything on the menu is so tasty and reasonably priced/portioned. I am always so touched by how warm, polite, and kind these folks are. Arturo is really the heart and soul of this little hole in the wall. The linguine with clams was the only letdown -- noodles were cooked well but it wasn't very flavorful overall and the clam aroma was not quite there. Would strongly recommend skipping that one unless they retool the recipe a bit. Service was good and the portions were generous. This should be 4.5 stars, but it won't let me do that 1/2 star. Anyway, this place is just superb. It's about as big as a phone booth, but that doesn't affect the quality of the food, which is sky-high. I had the arugula, gorgonzola, and pear salad for a starter, and it was great. Really fresh and favorable. Maybe a -bit- too big for one diner, but really good. My entree was the chicken parm and it was fantastic, with a nice combination of crunch, tenderness, and cheese. I got the pasta side, rather than the green beans, and (again) it may have been just a -slightly- too big portion, but I'd rather have too generous than too measly. As well, there was just a bit too much sauce, but it was so good that I managed to sop it all up with the very good bread (though that could have been just a bit warmer). I do have some complaints about things they could do a little better, but the starting place is so high, I want it to be that much better to make it darn near close to perfect. The other "issue" is that I wish they were open later than 7:00, but I understand the rationale. Bottom line: it's really, really good, and I expect/hope to go back many times. read more
