We had a craving for pizza after a long day of shopping at Willowbrook mall, so we decided to pop in Buongusto for dinner. We ordered a plain pie and decided to eat it there while it was nice and hot. They have a decent size dining area and a few tables outside. Sadly pizza was underwhelming. The sauce lacked flavor, so the pizza was a extremely bland. Even after adding garlic powder and oregano, it still fell flat. They have a full menu, as well as a wine list! Pizza and wine is always a win so they get an extra point for that. I saw a bunch of already made speciality slices that I regret not trying. If I'm craving pizza while in the area again, I'd give them another shot. This pizzeria is in a shopping plaza so there's plenty of parking. They take cash and all major credit cards. read more

I don't know what happened with this place but in the last year they have progressively gotten worse. First the sauce on Veal Saltimbuca was changed to some rosey tomato instead of a Marsala gravy. And food becoming subpar. Visited in the evening of 4th of July and the booths were a big mess food and garbage on seats and floors ,dried up tomato sauce stuck on booth seats. Being later it took our party three booths to get to a semi clean one(dried sauce on seat) in an empty restaurant. If this is the way they treat the dining room what is their kitchen looking like? Yes we should have left but we had two hungry kids. This used to be one of my faves on the area, I think ownership changed. That will be my last visit -good luck! read more

In Wayne for a few days & was told about this place. I've never seen such amazing pizza combinations. Can't understand the CT guy's complaints. Guess he's not used to thin crust pizza because that's how it can be at times when you put a lot on it. We love that here in NJ. This place has delicious home cooked everything. I had the pizza - excellent, the pinwheel type thing (whatever it is) which was made with fresh ingredients & their truly outstanding Gorgonzola Chicken Salad. Let me tell you about this salad. There is a very generous amount of grilled chicken, real dark greens (not cheap iceberg hidden at the bottom), chopped asparagus spears, sun dried tomatoes, sliced red onion, Kalamata onions along with the cheese. It comes with a mild lemon vinaigrette. The only reason I didn't get an entree is because it was lunch and I'm supposed to be on a diet thus the repeat salad orders. Let's be real here folks. This is a pizza restaurant. Not a 5 star Michelin place. It's clean, cute and they do an excellent job. The people I met (4 different guys) were very solicitous and obviously cared about what they do. If you had been there on an "off night" go back. You'll be glad you did. read more

Good pizza spot especially for slices! I was in the plaza for something else and was visiting NJ from CT. We don't get great (NY / NJ style) pizza in the Hartford CT area so decided to bring a plain cheese pie home to reheat later. As soon as I walked in, I knew it was good jersey Pizza from the large variety of slices they had out. The square Sicilian looks especially good, and I wish I grabbed some is that too ( 2 varieties). They had a fresh pizza made up for slices but it was cold (perfect for travel!), so I took it back to CT as is and put it in my fridge until the next day. I re-heated in our toaster oven with no tray or pan so the crust would get extra crispy. The crust was thin but very good. The pizza was very good overall! Perhaps slightly thicker crust would be better to support the cheese and sauce and be more substantiative, but we still enjoyed this classic NJ pizza in the comfort of our CT home. Great food but had two bad experiences. One was with online ordering which didn't seem to be working twice, the other is one time placing an order and the woman on the phone did not know about anything I was ordering. She asked the manager and it turned out they were either out or saying they don't have it, which I don't know meant never had or are out. She couldn't be clear. My clients picked this place to get lunch and I was looking forward to trying some pasta. My clients called in the order and I called to pay. I had to make adjustments and Amir was great with giving a good discount to fit the budget which I truly appreciated. For myself I ordered the pasta with vegetables and marinara sauce and Amir comped it which was nice of him. They delivered the food on time and separated my meal. When I got in I dug in and the pasta was good. I added a little spice to taste and it was the perfect touch. I have been going to this restaurant and ordering in for over 5 years! It used to be one of my favorite places! The pizza was never that great but the entrees were delicious! Service was incredible! Even during the pandemic shut down, we could count on this place for great delivery and tasteful food! 5 stars across the board! 10 if it was allowed. I don't know what happened! My last 2 visits were horrible. The service was practically nonexistent. The food quality changed and wasn't that good. The only item that didn't change was the Penne Vodka. Usually they give you bread with these delicious garlic knots. We had to ask for them and it took a good 15 minutes to receive them. They were tasty better than the ones we ordered. We ordered as an appetizer the garlic knots and they were horrible. Burnt and took quite some time to come out as well. They even changed some of the recipes to the entrees. Especially the sauces and it wasn't for the better. I believe it's under new owners or some sort of changes have been made and unfortunately, it's just not good. In the last 2 months, this has become one of my go-to spots for food delivery. I've tried a few of their specialty pizza pies, and some of their pasta dishes and all have been delicious and fresh. They have very fast and free delivery services and the food is always delivered hot and is perfectly flavored. The prices are also great for the portions you receive. I am beginning to get a little sick and tired of Covid up charging. This place has deteriorated beyond belief. Absolute trash. I HATE when places tote that "woe is me" pity because of Covid and then raise their prices, but the quality goes down. Well, that's what this place is. So, I placed a phone order of an extra cheese pie, a prosciutto/mozzarella sandwich, and rice balls. The total was just under 50 dollars! 50!!..for pizzeria food. When I inquired about the prices, the manager came on the phone and told me that everything on the menu went up. Initially, the prosciutto mozzarella sandwich was priced at 9.75. Well, these yahoos had the nerve to tell me that the sandwich now cost 13 bucks. That's a 4 dollar up charge for a damn sandwich!!!!!! The pie was supposedly now 20 bucks instead of the 16 dollar base price plus a two dollar fee for adding extra cheese which would bring the price to 18. So I decided to drop the sandwich and order a panini. The Paninis also went up but only a dollar so I went for it. What a mistake this was. Now onto the food. I actually used to like the pizza here. Tonight, the pizza was god awful. Bland, doughy, and lacking severely in both cheese and sauce. Ironic since I ordered "extra cheese." The panini was disgusting. There's no nicer way to put it. In theory, a panini is a HOT (not cold) pressed sandwich with the contents of the sandwich being just as hot as the bread. Well, I received the exact opposite of this. I received a cold cut sandwich on two pieces of bread that were "charred" but in reality, they were burnt because all I could smell and taste was the burnt flavor of the bread which was overpowering and there was no oil, vinegar, or other condiments to flavor the meats inside. You'd ask why am I complaining about that? I could have added the condiment. Not true. Paninis, if done correctly, are packed with flavor and they are supposed to be HOT not cold. So the hams, salamis and other meats would be much more flavorful had they been heated in the presser and in turn, would have released flavorful juices that would not have needed any condiment. To my amazement, I did NOT receive a panini. I received a cold sandwich with raw sliced meats, zero flavor, and burnt pieces of bread. As the cherry on the sundae, the guy I spoke to on the phone said that he would send me their "updated menu" with my order. I did receive one, BUT, plot twist...they sent me the same menu that I already had with the same pre-Covid prices. So, these people are manipulative opportunists in my opinion. Greedy and completely unethical. They are charging you whatever they want to and do NOT have a current menu to reflect their up charges. STAY AWAY FROM THE PLACE!!!!!!.. Shame on these people. I hope they go out of business!!! I haven't been this disgusted with a food establishment in a long time. read more

Dough almost seemed undercooked it was so floppy, you had to be careful for the cheese not to fall off and it still took awhile to be ready! I'm giving it 3 stars due to the sandwich being tasty and they definitely use good cold cuts but after a full sandwich I was still hungry. My wife heard of the reviews so we had to check it out. The food was fabulous and needs a 5 star review. Pizza and buffalo bites appetizer was great. My fettuccine Alfredo with chicken was cooked to perfection and a nice flower in center for show. My wife had a salad with grilled shrimp and she loved it with the lemon vinaigrette dressing. Buongusto is an unassuming Italian restaurant found in a little strip mall. It really doesn't look like much -- you won't find any Michelin rated restaurants in a strip mall -- but it's AMAZING! My girlfriend and I only visited because she found a $25 off of $50 coupon from restaurant.com. Good decision! Seriously, I was a little nervous when I walked in because it looks like such a mom and pop shop, and it doesn't help that many restaurants which advertise on these types of sites (like Groupon) are discounted for a reason. All nervousness was alleviated when the food came out, though! We ordered an appetizer of buffalo wings (hot; $8.95), eggplant parm ($14.95), penne vodka with shrimp ($15.95); and we got cheesecake ($4.95) and coppa stracciatella ($5.95) for dessert. Total was $54.24 for two, which is great because we ended up bringing the meals home so we got four meals out of one trip! My penne vodka was great! Creamy but not too rich, the pasta was cooked well (just a little over al dente, which I like) and the shrimp was fresh. You get a decent amount of shrimp - I think around 7 jumbo pieces. It was also a huge plate, too, which I didn't expect. And for whatever reason you also get a pretty flower on top, so that's nice if you enjoy mixing pasta with flowers. In keeping with the theme of big plates, the eggplant parm was the BIGGEST plate of eggplant parm I've literally seen in my life. Seriously, too big. Way too big. I mean, it's a great thing, but just shockingly big. My girlfriend really enjoyed it. The wings and dessert were also good, but nothing amazing. Just hot enough, I think the wings were freshly breaded in house (as opposed to just frozen wings being thrown into the oven). I'm assuming this is the case because the food took FOREVER to arrive at the table. The wings also tasted... different. But not bad different. Just... fresher? The cheesecake was fine, but not great, and the coppa stracciatella was waaaay better. It's billed as gelato, but after having just visited Italy and eating gelato everyday, I'm fairly confident it was just regular American ice cream (which isn't bad!). I'd also like to include a note about service. Our waiter, Hictor, was a normal dude and that contributed to the welcoming and homey feel that the restaurant has. You feel like you're at home with family because everything is so... normal. You don't get five star service, but everyone was very friendly and you just felt good. I really enjoyed the company. What a great little spot! Friendly service and conveniently location near the Wayne AMC and Willowbook mall. Portions are large and the Italian food is superb. I came here for lunch with a couple friends and had a $25 off $50 restaurant.com coupon. We all got entrees and one appetizer and we had leftovers to take home. Newest pizza shop opened up in the shopping centers near Willowbrook mall, right across from the movie theater. Not quite sure how long its been here, less than a year. Located smack dab in the middle of the plaza. The restaurant appears small. If this place ever got packed the line would be out the door. It's not as spacious, reminded me of a runway. However, when I walked in I saw a lot of people. Place was crowded that day, they have about 10 tables. On your right-hand side when you walk in the first thing you see is the dessert in the refrigerator. It's hard to miss. I think I spent 5 minutes looking at it before I even decided to order any food. Once I checked-in I received a coupon, one of the many perks to being Elite on yelp.
