If your looking for a classic mom and pop homemade delicious thin crust Italian pizza then this is your spot! Got the margarita, buffalo chicken, ralphy pizzas. All were soo good. Get the ralphy and ask for kethcup and mayo just the way the Chef likes it. We just landed from EWR and place was closing and stayed up late for us (party of 7). My family of three are new to the area and have been sampling the local pizzerias near by. Unfortunately, we have had to branch out further from the town we reside. At Bounocore's pizzas are very very good. The wood burning oven bakes a beautiful crust with char marks That give a perfect crispness, And the ingredients seem 1st rate. We've taken out several times now and the pizza is really terrific... definitely the best pizza we've had in the area. Ok, maybe we haven't tried every 'ria' around, but we've hit a bunch of them over the past 27 years. The staff is always friendly (on the phone too) and the order is ready within 15 minutes, which works great because I'm about 10 minutes from them. It's a tiny place with maybe a table or 2 and a small brick oven, but Carmine clearly knows what he's doing. The pies are not huge, but neither is the prices. We mostly get the margarita or plain pies, but I'm thinkin we might need to "expand our horizons" with other pies... and some of those entrees. If I have a complaint... it would be the house salad... a little bland. Lettuce, onions and tomato... choose your dressing. A couple of 'extras' like olives, different sliced or grated cheeses, cucumber... that sort of thing. But it is a small place, so I guess there has to be a limit somewhere. There are 3 other pizzerias in Haledon and 3 in North Haledon. I thought there were too many pizzerias arouNd but nobody was using a brick oven. I saw Buonocore's Brick Oven on yelp! How long have they been open, and why didn't anybody tell me! When I called they said they would call when it was ready to make sure I was getting it while it's hot. I had my own pizza bag and the owner told me that If I had a slicer, he wouldn't cut it, and it would stay hot. The pizza cooks so quick, it also cools down quickly. Both the margarita and cheese pies were delicious! All the ingredients fresh and put together with care. The crust is just right, making it easy to hold and eat, the way pizza is supposed to be eaten. I have a hard time rating 5. I was thinking like 4.5, but my wife said they deserve a 5 because they got the best pizza. But a 5 is perfect? She's right! This is the best pizza I've ever had, and I've had a lot of pizza! I'm looking forward to trying other specialty pies and food on the menu. If you're close, you should go pick up a pie! I've ordered pizza from here 3 times already and this is the only time I remembered to take a picture before devouring it! This time, I ordered the marks pizza and subbed the sausage out for some breaded chicken. Their pizza is always super fresh and they are the perfect size to be shared or eaten by yourself. The crust comes out with the perfect fluff and they aren't shy when it comes to adding toppings either. The young lady who answers the phone is always polite . And the cook (I think he's the owner) with the tattoos is super friendly and always says hello. I am super impressed at how fast the pizza takes to cook. Usually 10 mins, even less I've been living in north haledon for 4 years now and I was eager yet skeptical to try out this brick oven pizza at first. But I'm so happy I tried this place. I usually order their zeppoles which are fresh as well. Usually when I order zeppoles from other pizzeria's they have this weird after taste where you can taste all the other fried foods that have been cooked in the oil. Ordered from here back to back this week. Got the pasta bolognese & pasta alfredo. Their pasta option vary day by day, I think. Today they had linguini which is a personal favorite so I was happy. I went to Buonocores today and cannot recommend it enough. The owner was so incredibly kind and friendly. He's from Naples and imported the oven from Italy and installed it himself. Every day he makes his own mozzarella fresh using a recipe he learned from his father. The pizza itself was absolutely amazing--it was perfectly thin and you could tell and the ingredients were fresh and high-quality. We ordered the margherita and the Anna pizza and both were outstanding. You can't ask for a better pie. I'll definitely be going back! read more

I dont know why I have not left a review for here. Especially since it's close to me. To start they only sell personal pan pie's so keep that in mind. For me and my friends, personal is fine because we just trade slices, etc and each take home our leftovers. Now on to the pizza, I just love it! perfect amount of sauce with cheese with the right amount of toppings. They use names for their pizza's, so check the menu before ordering, but i'd imagine you could still order with whatever toppings you like. I absolutely love this spot!!! Coming from being born and raised in New York to Haledon, NJ it's been a big deal finding a quality pizza spot so I'm super stoked on this place! I've ordered and picked up from this place several times now and generally get the marg and the grandmas (both of which are amazing) my boyfriend loves the Buffalo Chicken pie too -- I can't wait to try more (I'm hungry just thinking about their perfect little coal burning pizza) Bonus: The staff and owner and super friendly, they really know how to run a business. I just ordered from Buoncores for the first time. I ordered eggplant parm dinner, penne with vodka sauce w/chicken cutlet. Stracchietella soup. I put a request to keep salt to a minimum where possible. The prices were reasonable but the eggplant parm portion caused me to do a double-take. Of all the places I've ordered eggplant, (and I order it from everywhere), this was the smallest portion I'd ever seen. I guess that's why the price seemed less, but honestly I'd rather pay a little more and get a portion that isn't dwarfed by the rest of the empty tin it's delivered in. Portion aside, the eggplant was good, though parts seemed like they'd been fried too long. The penne with vodka and chicken cutlet portion was normal. I did enjoy it, but the sauce needs a little more "vodka sauce" taste. Both seemed ok with the salt. The soup... is VERY salty. Nobody needs that amount of salt to make something taste good. It's such a shame because the few bites I took made me sad that I knew I couldn't eat the rest. It has to be twice the daily sodium requirement in just one serving. If they improved their portions and you have no issues with sodium, then buoncores would be a good choice. read more

The best authentic pizza you can get at this price point in our area. My husband and I went to Italy about a year ago and have been craving true Italian pizza ever since. We've tried making it at home, but without a wood fired oven we can only get so far! S. Egidio is still the best in the area, but if you want something delicious and affordable on a weeknight, Buonocore is the new place to go. We got the Elena (prosciutto, cherry tomatoes, arugula) and the margherita of course. Crust could use a little more flavor and was a tad dry, but the sauce on the margherita was excellent and you can't beat the woodfired taste! Fresh mozzarella is a must as well. Our new go to spot.
