This place has been in the neighborhood for so many years. Really, a typical old school pizzeria, with the same decor that offers simple and delicious food. It is not a fancy place at all sort of like a dive but that is never a bad thing. If you are looking for vegan, or gluten free this is not the place for you. If they did offer that type of dietary specialty, they would advertise it. There are some options for vegetarians but you definitely have to scan their menu. They really have a decent menu. They offer calzones, hot heroes, cold heroes, pasta dishes, chicken, veal plus more. I got delivery here through the Slice app, ordering my standard pizza (cheese, pepperoni and green peppers) in a personal size. I was pleasantly surprised to get the personal pizza since it was bigger than I expected. The sauce also had a slight kick to it that I haven't had at other pizza places and it's in my area so I'd passed it before and wanted to try it to see if would be a good option to recommend for visitors. This place is underrated. Very basic corner slice decor- but honestly the pizza is solid. I absolutely love the chicken Cesar salad slice and so does my 9 yo son. I grew up on 48th street and used to love eating here as a kid. Now that I'm all grown up, I wanted to give this place a chance and see if they still got. And they still do! I ordered a large pie and requested the crust to be crispy. Also ordered garlic knots with extra marinara as I actually really like their marinara sauce. The garlic knots were buttery and perfectly seasoned. The marinara for dipping was warm and had good flavor. Perfect for dipping those knots. The pizza was actually exactly as I requested it to be. Although I would prefer a bit more sauce in my pizza, the slices tasted fresh and that's what mattered. If you live in the area, call them directly to order. absolutely abhorrent. i ordered gluten free lasagna delivery, and there were no calls made no issues or anything. when we got the food im really glad i had my roommate taste it first because it was NOT gluten free. i have a serious allergy and this could have been really bad. then we called the restaurant and it got SO much worse. they were dismissive, rude, didn't listen to anything we said, and hung up on us five times. they refused to let us speak to a manager or the owner or anyone about the serious issue and just kept blaming uber. seriously do not even bother -- what an absolute disaster. read more

It hurts me so bad to not leave a great review for La Bella. I would sometimes order from here 2-3 times a week. Every time I did, though, I'd swear it was my last. These people aren't kidding re: delivery times. Do not use the estimated time Seamless gives you means nothing - it's gonna take minimum 1.5 hours. Our little workaround for this was to call BEFORE we were hungry so we wouldn't be ravenous by the time we actually were consuming food. Delivery people were always so nice! You get a star! Garlic knots were exactly the kind I like - drenched in butter, super soft and garlicky. Star two! I would always order some sort of vodka sauced pasta dish - penne, rigatoni or gnocchi. The gnocchi was SO GREAT, it just cost $2 more and came in a smaller portion so I would go penne to maximize my food intake. Not super consistent here and it is atrocious for leftovers because the cream will break and separate from the oil and create a horrifying mess. I've been delivered orders, though, that were broken and separated and looked like what happens when I try to reheat after a night in the fridge. I'd also always order a cheese slice and the pizza was always good for me but maybe every fourth time or so the crust would have sesame seeds... why...? Is that a thing? That people like? I want to give these guys a good review. Because they're consistently good. Usually. But this time I ordered something, and asked for a specific instruction; they didn't call me to ask me to specify or tell me they couldn't do it. I dont understand all these five star reviews but my experience was abysmal for delivery. I was excited to see they offered gluten free pasta so I went for it. My email was running slow so I called to confirm my order. It had been about 15 min. The person who answered the phone said oh! I know your order, went out a long time ago, 40 min hold on (I'm confused but ok). Guy says I'm sorry but the delivery guy gave your order to someone else do you want us to remake it and said it would take 25 min. I agreed and I asked did he want my address? My number? Oh uh sure he says. Sounds more like they didn't make my order in the first place and were hoping to just refund me. Anyhow 35 min later my food arrived. Somehow the pasta was brittle and undercooked but the veggies & sauce tasted like they were reheated (veggies were mush and cream sauce was oily, pilled, and separated. I'm the type of gal that rarely gets plain cheese and sauce when ordering pizza, I usually chicken or calamari or lasagna, but for this place, I'm set on grandma. I can't even bring myself to try much else. It's my guilty Saturday night pleasure. Square like a Sicilian but not as thick. The tomato sauce is saucy, has some small tomato chucks, and is so well balanced in flavor. Tastes like perfectly ripened tomatoes. The cheese is light, stringy, in other words, yummy! Don't waste your money. Ordered the ziti vodka and it was wayyyy too creamy and not in a good way. It was inedible - super thick and I had to actually scrape some of it off the pasta. I've ordered from this place before but today was my last time ordering from them. I placed an order on seamless and waited an hour for my food which never arrived. I call the restaurant to see what was going on with my order. The guy over the phone was rude af. He goes you didn't order anything. We don't have anything. You called the wrong restaurant. I said no, I got the right restaurant and kept arguing with me and then finally after 5 minutes later he finds my order and says the machine was broken. I've been in this neighborhood a while, unfortunately, and experienced the transition from the original owner to the current one about a year and a half ago. At the beginning, the pizza was good and fresh, a second choice after the brick oven joint down the street closed over a year ago. They would use sesame seeds on some of the crusts, and offer decent options. La Bella's new owner was friendly and conscientious -unlike the previous one, who gave me plastic utensils and said he won't give me metal ones because he has to "clean" them. Unfortunately, that lasted about 6 months. The last three, count 'em, 3, pizza's I've ordered were incredibly salty and overcooked. Burnt dough, and so was the minuscule amount of cheese on it. The pie was orange, and it took 55 minutes. I had to throw half of it away. Didn't bother complaining as I'll never order from them again. I wanted to give the guy a chance but three strikes and your out. Even going into the storefront at 1 pm doesn't yield different results. I always find homeless people and destitutes hanging out in the booths with their belongings strewn about. It makes for a very uncomfortable experience. I don't understand the five star ratings here. At all. Pizza in Sunnyside is woefully lacking. They all suck. It's unfortunate because they, like everybody else, starts off well enough, but ends up spiraling into shite. read more

i'm gonna re-review this place. tonight, i arrived at about 15 minutes before closing. i ordered a penne alla vodka platter as well as a slice of cheese pizza. the penne alla vodka is good. however, they DRENCH the penne with vodka sauce. the sauce is extremely thick as well. it is tasty, but i really wouldn't eat a lot of it because of the thickness of the sauce. it literally sticks to the inside part of your throat. it's not a good feeling. now to the pizza. la bella's slices are literally a CHEESE pizza. the slice looks like it is focused on cheese rather than sauce. and it tasted exactly that way. it tastes nice but the dough in the back was overcooked. there was charcoal bits left on the plate. this place has all the ingredients; they just have to utilize/cook them better. and that goes for both the penne alla vodka and pizza slice. read more

I love the Chicken Francese, they make it just the way I order it. The ingredients they use are fresh and tasty but you can also tell that the folks care about the food they serve to their customers. $14 isn't a bad price for an 18" pizza. The pizza itself wasn't as good as Sunnyside Pizza up the street, and the quality of the ingredients was kind of iffy. I've been going to La Bella pizza since I moved into the neighborhood 6 years ago. They are consistently good. The red sauce is not overly sweet like other pizzeria's. Perhaps this is why a previous poster thought it was acidic. I think it's delicious! And it is homemade, by the owner and his wife who still work there 5 or 6 days a week. Their delivery is fast and also consistently good. Get the chicken parmesan or eggplant parmesan. They know how to cook pasta and serve it al dente. For a splurge, I've ordered the penna vodka with shrimp and it was fantastic with a generous amount of shrimp on top. The only thing I don't like is that if you order garlic bread via delivery, sometimes it is burnt. Better off with garlic knots instead. read more

My grandmother and I stopped in here quite a few times when I was a kid on our way back home from the mall while waiting for the bus. It always tasted so good and gave us some energy after shopping all day and night, lol. After I moved to Sunnyside from Greenpoint Brooklyn a few years ago with my fiance, we went to try this place out and the food was still amazingly good. The owner brought our food to our table, which is so nice to me because a lot of places don't do that anymore. I'm always surprised when I pass by and the place seems to be so empty. He has great food and great service and I really hope he stays in business for a lot longer! read more
