I was looking for a seafood place near Tanger Outlets after a day of shopping with mummy. Thanks to my handy Yelp App, I found it! This place is right around the corner and serves fresh seafood. We got the clam bake $25 which included steamed lobster, mussels, shrimp, corn, potato... And we got some raw clams and oysters to start with. Everything was fresh. My girlfriend has eaten here overtime and brought me here this past Saturday night for an outrageous and most delicious meal. I will definitely return as quickly as possible as long as Tanya is my waitress. She is a really caring and great waitress. By the time we finished our meal we felt as if we knew Tanya for years. My favorite seafood restaurant on Long Islands east end on the North Fork. Tonight my girlfriend and I enjoyed another great dinner with our favorite waitress. Tanya is so attentive and very caring. We ordered the pasta scampi, sauteed spinach, and baked clam (that has lobster, mussel, clam, corn, and potato). The food is bland. The lobster is very chewy, clam and mussel are fishy. We had better clams, mussels, and lobster at mountauk and southhold. The seafood was not clean properly and definitely not fresh. It was not worth a 45 minutes wait. My family and I come here every time we go to Tanger Outlets (only a 5 minute drive!) The staff is always friendly and I love the steam pots. Of course this is seafood we're talking about so depending on the season, some lobsters are better than others. Either way, great place to come for some drinks and seafood. Let me first start by saying that this is not a reflection of their food at all which is very good. However I cannot say the same for the service we received on 7/2/24 at dinner service. There were only 5 tables (ours included) occupied at the time. We waited 30 mins to get two cups water (our actual drinks arrived later), while 3 other tables who came after us got their food. Our waitress then disappears to take a phone call and comes back 25 mins later with our appetizers. Our waitress was assigned 1 table while the lead waitress had 3 tables and their service was expeditious. Our food came over an hour later. I asked to speak to the manager and the lead waitress came over. I explained what happened and she was very professional and offered to comp the meal which we did not need or want. We said we would pay for the meal but during the course of over 75 mins we saw our waitress 2 times. The service alone would prevent me from going back - it's sad considering the food is pretty good. Keep your receipt and check your cc statement. We have been fairly regular customers for over 10 years since we moved out here, which makes it more difficult to stop going. But, when you have a receipt for $94.50 and the charge comes through on your cc statement for $104.50 (we always leave the tip in cash on the table), what choice do we have? We went back to talk to them about it on a Sunday. The person who seemed to be in charge tried to give us a credit, but could not. Seafood... I was craving it and so I tried this place out. It's decent. Not the best but it is good and they had some good drinks. Pear sangria that was great and some other drink with coconut milk that was amazing! If you like seafood but aren't a huge critique of flavor and food being prepared correctly, then this is your place. I found this restaurant on Yelp, saw the good reviews and immediately drove over from the hotel. We started with the little necks. They were about as good as they should be on Long Island, meaning that they were delicious. I ordered the salmon special which was a crazy good chunk of salmon. This was not the lame frozen piece of fish you get at TGI Friday's. I'm talking about a real salmon steak that you get right off the boat. While vacationing from California we stopped by after visiting the outlets. The oyster appetizer was very tasty. The Manhattan chowder was also very good. Read about Buoy One, so drove out from Lynbrook to give it a try. Went today for first time. Inside is smallish, but sat outside at nice patio. The reviews I read before coming were all accurate ! The wait staff are very efficient and pleasant. The drinks were good sized and well put together.The fish - cod and shrimp -was very fresh, well seasoned and flavorful. All in all a worthwhile trip, and compared to other seafood spots I have tried, the pricing was very reasonable. Definitely coming again. Easily 4 stars ! read more

Alright, so Buoy One has been a favored go-to of mine since 2009 or so, when I used to grab Zipcars for weekend runs during summers to check out the forks. Then came the Chinese girlfriends and their insatiable needs for outlet crap (note to the Tanger Outlet people: up your goddamned food court game, nothing in there is worthy of human consumption), so it became a place to hit after those inferior shopping runs so I can de-stress and get my 5 minutes of humanity back. (Goddammit, how many Coach bags did you pick up this time?). I ate here many times, got my share of good and bad times, read many of the frankly awful reviews here, I figure that I need to pitch in my $0.02 and regulate, Warren G style. a) Buoy One has always been a bit expensive for the price, and your value for the money depends on what you order. Yeah, they run a seafood shack for the Hamptons/Montauk folks, and it's not cheap trucking things out to Riverhead. I mean, if you want cheap, McDonalds have filet-o-fish on its menu. Just try and guess which Amazonian creature that is made from. If you stay with the classics like the Clam-bake or the fried dinners, they'll usually be just fine (decent portions at a decent price). Just watch out for the buckets (could be expensive), the apps (lobster quseadilla? NO) and some of the specials, they are where the seafood joints make their money - stick with the classics and avoid the pastas (no seafood joint is that great with pasta). Also, if you come here for chicken and steaks, someone needs to slap you. b) It's a small, no-frills place, the service is barely functional during peak hours, and the wait can be long Here's another clue-bat - Buoy One isn't that big -there's probably around 15 tables, and large groups of Long Guylanders shows up dreaming of fried and steamed seafood platters. Just getting a seat can be a wait exceeding 30 minutes. Then there's the problem of cooking seafood - it's not something that they can make beforehand and ladle out like cafeteria mashed potatoes. Unlike New England seafood shacks, Buoy One has a fairly diverse menu, so it's not like they can sling clams and shrimps non-stop into the fryer basket/steamer trunks and bet on customer momentum to guarantee food freshness. Your order will be freshly made, and that'll take time - a 20 minute wait is not unusual. Do what I do - show up at 5p before the peak crowds show up. Park the car, ask for a table, order a cold beverage or 2, and just relax. I usually get my food by 6:15p, wrap up by 7p, reach Hicksville by around 7:45p so I can do my shopping at H-Mart or Broadway Mall before I drop off the Zipcar by 11p. c) The cooking is usually decent unless it gets really busy Ah, once again, it's the issue of the quality slipping when the place gets busy. Think of it this way - their fryer basket can only handle so many batches of clams and shrimp at a time - if they try to push it too far, the oil temp drops and the seafood gets greasy - same with the steamer stuff. Frankly, if you show up before the crowds it's usually a good experience - fresh shrimp, great mussels and clams, delicious fried fish, and some good bakes. The waitresses will be more attentive and will check on you more often. They'll also appreciate you more for not stressing them the fuck out. Okay, so here's my summation- decent local place, won't win a James Beard award anytime soon for their food, but solid cooking as long as you understand where they came from. A little pricey, but food value can be found if you are intelligent. Slow service and long waits sometimes, but it can be mitigated by not showing up at off-hours. If you want fast mediocre food, look for a place with that heat-and-eat Sysco delivery truck parked outside, like that Applebee's on Old Country Road. Otherwise, grab a table outside and a cocktail on your hand, chill out and just wait for the clam bake. As long as you are not some over-entitled bitch-ass, you should be fairly well taken care of. read more

Dishonest server. I had lunch over there and paid by credit card. A few days later I noticed the total amount was incorrect because extra tips were added without my authorization. I tried to contact the restaurant and was told they might have just entered the wrong amount by mistake because there were too many receipts. I was told the manager would call me back, but they never did. And I don't think anyone would misread $25.41 as $33 by mistake. Not even close. Didn't have the original receipt, but I was able to get an e-receipt from Amex transaction. Not big money but very unhappy about the way they handled it. read more

All the tables were just looking at each other and shaking their heads. Started out with drinks just being bad. They couldn't make us Bloody Marys for some reason and the Apersol Spritz had to be returned. Waited 40 minutes for fried oysters that were horrible and tasted like they just spilled salt all over them. The bucket of steamed clams was tasteless and very chewy. I was visiting my aunt in Calverton with my extended family when the 13 of us were struck with hunger pangs for lunch. My sister wanted to have "Long Island seafood" which wasn't too far out of the way, so we came here out of convenience/yelp recommendation. Slow service. Mediocre seafood. Not terrible nor spectacular. Majority of the menu items are fried. However, they will broil your fish upon request (my dad had his entree broiled instead of fried) but by default you'll get some deep fat fry! Mains come with fries by default, and if you want to substitute you can but only for another starch/carb heavy item (mashed potatoes, sweet potato, potato salad etc) not salad or a green vegetable. I sought out something non-fried, and selected the salmon burger with mashed sweet potatoes. The burger was okay, but on the bit bland side. When we were on our way out, we found a woman completely high on drugs squatting in my uncle's friend's car (he left the windows open and doors unlocked) looking for valuables/money. She looked like she had thrown up and was wearing only 1 sandal. They shooed her away and she was trying to shake us down for money. She couldn't walk straight and when she tried to have a sip of her soda she spilled it all over herself... If you're nearby and want fish for lunch and don't mind it fried, stop by for a meal.
