I always rate apples to apples. If you're looking for high-gourmet, this is not it. If you're looking for simply prepared, fresh food-bingo! We shared the fried combo: everything was fresh, cooked properly, and not greasy at all. You have to ask for tarter sauce, no biggies. Clams were fresh and sweet. Cod, super fresh and juicy. Shrimp, small, but tasty. We also shared the Cobb salad. Fresh field greens, generous portion, chicke cooked well. Dressing tasted like bottled, which could certainly be improved upon. Stopped in for a quick drink, ordered a coconut mojito and it was pretty good. The service was great, bartender was nice and recommended some food and drinks on the menu. We ordered a side of fries and enjoyed our drinks on the beach. Live band was setting up, but we were heading out by then. It's a great casual place for a drink and some bar food on the beach. Unfortunately the clouds were out, but we'll come back on a nice sunny day! read more

Food was mediocre...I ordered the fried shrimp, my family ordered some shrimp and other things as well. It didn't come with tartar sauce so I was asked by my family to go up and ask for 6 tartar sauce packets for the whole table. The girl helping me waited to give it to me, grabbed the manager and they both came over and hounded me about what we ordered and what I needed it for multiple times, like I was committing a crime asking for something for the food we purchased from them, why would I know the whole tables order and why was it such a big deal to ask for condiments that should come with the meal to begin with? It was one of the most ridiculous, unprofessional , and rude interactions I've ever had with a food place, for what reason? I'm not sure. Hesitant to come back... and if I do, I'll bring my own tartar sauce so I don't get arrested. read more

I get it - the location is fantastic, the sunsets are beautiful, blah blah...but that is not an excuse for poor service and an absolutely filthy bar, especially at the prices being charged. Came here after hanging out at the beach after work with my fiance. Won't mention the lack of cleanliness in the seating area since it's an outdoor beach bar. Expecting it to be perfect is unfair. Anyway, we placed very simple order: 2 cheeseburgers and 2 mixed drinks. To our surprise, both drinks came with an additional ingredient...FRUIT FLIES! Not one, but multiple in BOTH of our drinks. Gross. I've watched enough Bar Rescue and worked as a bar back when I was younger so I know what that means: the bar obviously doesn't keep up with cleanliness. Tried to bring it to our servers attention, except she was MIA for a while after we ordered. I ended up having to get up and walk to the "service" counter to bring this bug issue to another guy's attention. He was cool about it and didn't give me a hard time (although our ever-so-pleasant waitress shot a few glares my way while laughing with a co-worker behind the counter - whatever). He exchanged the drinks for a couple canned beers and all was fine. Then our burgers came out. Ordered them medium - they came out well done. Again - expecting perfection at what is basically a glorified beach shack is unfair, so we didn't say anything. However, the burger meat was obviously very low quality (frozen patties without a doubt) and the fries tasted like fish. Almost like they fry them in the same oil as whatever fried fish they serve, and I'd imagine the oil is not changed even close to as often as it should be based on the lackadaisical approach they take regarding sanitizing the bar. Finally got the check, which still had the 2 mixed drinks ($13 each -___-) on the bill. I mentioned that the charge should be for the 2 beers, not the mixed drinks. Honestly, any decent restaurant would have taken the drinks off entirely and offered the beers with an apology. Waitress was obviously not happy about that. "What was wrong with the drinks again?" with a sarcastic tone, instead of the correct response. Something like "Right, sorry I forgot to take care of that earlier." Maybe she was just having a bad day? I prefer to give servers the benefit of the doubt, but not when it comes to cleanliness and doing right by the customer. This place is flat out gross. I most certainly would never order a mixed drink again, nor would I suggest ordering a tap beer - odds are the lines haven't been cleaned all summer (at least). If you really want to come down here and have a drink while watching the sun go down, grab a canned or bottled beer (and check the exp. date!). Do NOT order anything else. read more

Location location. Stunning sunset, laid back cool older crowd with live music. Drinks are super sweet, skip the premade frozen crap. Food is good- baked clams are terrific, mussels were big and perfectly cooked. Wings were so so, lobster roll way too much mayo. Clam chowder delicious. On the water prices for hit & miss food. Waiter was adorable but non existent, and other waiters do not clear your table, we sat with dirty plates for 30 minutes. Cute place, would come again. read more

Went to Tiki Joes for a few drinks and to hear the band. Wound up staying for dinner. I have a ton of allergies so the wait staff at most restaurants get annoyed. Our waiter at tiki joes was AMAZING!!!! Will was knowledgeable on the the menus allergens and check on every potential allergen I may encounter. Will is a stand out waiter and should be an example for his entire generation. Food was great, view was awesome service was even better. Will definitely be back!!!!! read more

My daughter and her friends visited this location for her birthday and the experience she had at this establishment was outrageous. While sitting with their friends on the deck, the manager BRIDGET walked over and asked them to get up so they can set the tables for dinner. While my daughter and her friends had drinks and food from the establishment, she still asked them to get up even though they were not done eating. After Bridget agreed to them getting up when they were done with their food...they went to the bar and decided to actually dine in for dinner service. Her friend went to the hostess stand, asked the hostess if they all could sit near the bar. The hostess then seated them and gave them menus and utensils. After ordering drinks, Bridget (the manager) walked over and told them they were not allowed to dine in her establishment because they helped themselves to the menus and utensils. After arguing about this matter, Bridget then got security involved...security was demanded to ban and throw out my daughter and her friends. The security guards used unreasonable force against two young girls. Afterwards they held them hostage in the parking lot. Knowing how this establishment is run, I would never recommend this place to any friends or family. Shame on them for allowing people like this to run their business, especially since it is only seasonal. read more

I was so disappointed when visiting Sunsets... I had been a regular at the bar and grill a couple of years ago. It was so far superior in every way. The waitresses and staff were friendly and welcoming... the food was well prepared and not so much like "bar food". I used to order fresh fish and was very happy... healthful and not caloric. Last night, we were told there was an hour wait for a table... there were two tables available. We watched for about 25 minutes and nobody was seated. We were told about it in a very rude manner... Bottom line.... the last company running the restaurant was far superior... I wish they would come back... read more

Location, location, location. This is the best place on the north shore to have a burger and watch the sunset. Food wise I would stick with the basics as the kitchen is really just a glorified concession stand. If they ever hired a real chef this place could be real special. read more

It took longer to find our drinks than the us took to find bin laden. The food was absolutely horrendous who grills lettuce!!! the head still on it knowing they didn't clean the Romain what so ever ordered fish and chips got chicken fingers instead running restaurants clear indication they don't date or label food. If you're looking for horrible service and bad food with a good view this is the place for you. Great destination for sunsets but the B team bartenders leave the conversation consistently about how bad the service is. I agree. The service is horrible. Twice now a bartender put cranberry juice in my Rum Punch. I've literally arrived and simply turned around and left because I can't justify spending my money here. read more
