The BEST lobster roll comprised of huge pieces of lobster. Unlike the mush that's served all over this summer, this is the real deal. Amazing selection of fresh seafood. The swordfish we picked up was wild-caught, and it seems like most of their offerings are as well, which is rare to find. Everything looked very fresh, from the oysters and clams to the jumbo shrimp. I noticed they also had some frozen Chilean sea bass, so that may be something to try next time. I absolutely love this place! I visited Braun for the first time with family this year for lunch because it was highly recommended to us from friends who love love love Lobster Rolls and in search of great seafood whenever they vacation especially in Newport, Ri and Long Island. So we gave it try and Wow it did definitely did not disappoint. The rolls were extremely generous and delicious!! The soft shell crab tacos and fish and chips were absolutely incredible and delicious too!! Everything was perfect and we can't wait to go back which we will this month again. Our first visit was in June after a day at the Vineyards for lunch visiting from the city for the weekend. I am so extremely happy I found my go to place for amazing lobster rolls and seafood. It's worth every penny and more. The service was so friendly and accommodating which made the experience so nice. Everyone at Braun including the staff next door at the seafood market was so helpful and kind. We wanted to bring some seafood home to cook but did not come equipped with an ice box, etc. - but the staff was super nice and tried to make it happen but it the end it would not have made it back the 2 plus hours drive home. My entire experience was amazing!!! WOW. Celebrated my June birthday out in North Fork this year with family and came across Braun Seafood during our visit. Everyone was craving Lobster Rolls, Fish & Chips and Soft Shell Crab Tacos and with a little internet search we came across Braun Seafood and thought it would be a great experience and day trip to give it a try. It did not disappoint! We entered the parking lot and didn't know what to expect but once we went through the doors we were all blown away. The staff were all super friendly and gave us some wonderful recommendations. The price point was definitely reasonable and the seafood and selections were incredible and delicious. Trust me when I say no one was sharing. LOL...We ordered everything and loved it. Great day and we can't wait to go back! We've already booked our hotels and will be returning back to the wineries, hotel and definitely Braun again which is a must visit in July. read more

I had the $40 Lobster Roll (Market Price) which was a generous serving of lobster and came with amazing fries and on a perfectly toasted and buttery roll. There was some seasoning on the lobster and I would have preferred it with just butter but this is something that I'd been craving for a while, so I left happy. My friend got the lobster bake which for $20 was an entire lobster, so I definitely felt like my roll was a bit overpriced, but alas it was what I was craving. Not the best lobster roll I've had but it hit the spot. Tip: There is a farm stand across the street that has the most amazing homemade ice cream for $4. If the freezer is empty make sure to ask if they have any in the back. read more

I know there are other seafood markets out there but we're so hooked on Brauns that's the only one we go to now. Great friendly service! unfortunately, the food itself is a total disappointment. Maybe I came on the wrong day, but the main entrées were burnt- the salmon and the swordfish (catch of the day!). Not just slightly burnt, but completely burnt taste. You really can't taste the fish- Literally, asking for colon cancer kinda burnt. The lady that came in after us complained about the burger tasting burned and disgusting. they were nice enough to switch her order. As my brother describes it, even the rice taste better than the fish. The fries and chicken tender was pretty good. My son enjoyed the garlic buttered mussels. Over alll, this place is over priced for a small portion of food. I'd say you're better off eating fast food. read more

A gem on the North Fork. They've been around since 1928 and, obviously, they've got seafood down cold (and hot). Get the mahi taco trio or, if they have it with swordfish, even better. Soups are excellent. The corn-and-shrimp chowder is a standout, though it's a special so it is not always available. The fried shrimp basket is recommended; the fries are superb. The freshest seafood you are going to find on the North Fork. For years we have been enjoying their fish and shell fish at their outdoor picnic tables . In the past the staff has been snippy and unfriendly and it ruined the experience. Thankfully this season, the counterperson is polite, helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the sweetest most delish little neck clams on the half shell and tasty fried calamari to start. The soft shell crabs were a large size, cooked to perfection. Made a seafood dinner for 12 people and every shellfish opened up! Then got 8 huge swordfish filets and 2lbs of Salmon. Best swordfish I ever had. Our new favorite restaurant on the North Fork!! Who knew after all the years we have been coming and staying on The North Fork that most restaurants are closed on Tuesdays. Not us! Lucky for us we had been driving past and after a quick u-turn we found ourselves a treasure of scrumptious food ....a very casual but very good seafood restaurant. We even drove out to Greenpoint and nothing open... The staff and the chef could not be friendlier. I alerted the young lady who took our order that I have a dairy allergy and she wrote it on our order. The chef came out a short while later to say that my choice was not a good one for me. We mess our first visit to Brauns after seeing their feature on News 12 East End. They have 2 areas, one that acts as a restaurant (no table side service)and one as a seafood sure where you can get fresh seafood. We first day in the restaurant. We ordered the the lobster roll and the lobster taco which were both amazing. We then went into the fish store where they have an amazing selection of fresh fish, great lobster specials and frozen seafood as well. I ordered a beautiful weakfish and red snapper which was fileted and porgy too. All the fish was truly amazing, fresh and delicious! We will definitely be back!!!! read more

Had lunch there today. Braun's has a walk up area to order "quick" items. I tried the swordfish tacos. There were three tacos on small flour tortillas served with packets of hot sauce. The flavor with the hot sauce was good but couldn't really find the swordfish. Once I finally saw a little piece on my taco, it had not flavor. They also don't have any unsweetened ice tea or unsweetened snapple. Husband had a fried flounder sandwich on a brioche roll. The roll was thick and you needed to take off one side of the roll to enjoy the fried flounder. The fish was good. It was served with fries and slaw. Tables were far enough apart that you felt safe. I can't speak for the fresh seafood because we've never bought from that side, but their to-go deli food is to die for. The fried clam strips and friend scallops are incredible...and their homemade tartar sauce is just delicious. It's quite a far drive for us to visit, but when we're out on the north fork we always stop by to grab some lunch for the ride home. They have a nice outdoor seating area with picnic tables as well as a few tables indoors. Friendly staff and quick service! read more

It is our go-to spot in the area for takeout, whether a fully prepared meal to eat at the picnic tables outside or fish to bring home and grill ourselves. If you are going to the restaurant, you can order ahead from an extensive menu or order at the counter once you arrive. There are a few tables inside -- nothing fancy, just a spot to sit down and eat the delicious food. When the weather is nice, the picnic tables outside are the way to go, and you can top off the meal with ice cream or dessert at Scoops and Grinds right next door. There is no table service, but the staff behind the counter is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. If you are going to the fish market, you will be greeted with an excellent selection of fresh fish and knowledgeable and friendly staff to help you make the best choices. While all the seafood at their fish market looked very fresh with potential to be cooked to perfection, the food ordered at the cafe was sadly not. The pan seared scallops was burnt to be chewy as erasers while the risotto was very salty, the side of cornbread was very dense instead of light and airy, the miso corn on the cob was missing the miso on the one ear of corn but heavily sprinkled on the other. The only reason it got two stars was because the miso butter cod was cooked just right as was the bok choy.. Just go buy the fresh raw fish and cook it yourself! read more

Started with two plump but blasé crab cakes that lacked flavor and crab. Got the fried flounder which was under seasoned and bland served over over salty fries. Tried the fried shrimp platter as well and the batter, like the flounder was just boring. Service at the counter was fine and prices are a tad steep. The fish was fresh but they seriously need to season the batter. Not going to return and not recommended. read more

Brauns used to have one of the best shrimp baskets on the north fork, but not today. Eating there this afternoon was a miserable experience. Fried shrimp tasted like it was cooked in old oil and the batter was awful tasting. Two others with me got fried baskets of fish, oysters, and shrimp. They agreed. Oil tasted like it was well spent. We used to have a clam bar, bar, and restaurant in Rockaway Beach, NY. We know seafood. Sad to see a great place like Braun's go down hill. I even asked the girl, "Did this place change hands?" To which she replied, it's still Brauns. I sincerely doubt that. $75 for three fried shrimp/ combo baskets and one soda. My only regret is not taking one bite and saying "Oh hell no, you can have nastiness back." But I ate half of the tortured fries. read more

Steamers - too sandy to even attempt to eat. No cups of water to dip / clean in Crab cakes - nothing special and serving size made me laugh when I saw them; thimble sized Scallops and shrimp combo - way way way overcooked. Scallops were extremely rubbery, perhaps because they had been sitting behind the counter too long. This is a review of the seafood market not the restaurant. Braun's has been around for many years selling fresh seafood. They have a great selection of local fish including whole fish, fillets and shell fish. The price reflects seasonality of the fish. If the fish is in season the price is reasonable. If you are looking for something out of season expect to pay more. They sell the famous Peconic scallops when in season. This year looks to be a good season for local scallops, hopefully prices reflect that. Each fish tray indicates where the fish come from. They also sell prepared products such as clam chowders and lobster bisque. One item to look for that you won't find anywhere else is clam pie. Yes I said clam pie and it taste great and is filling. Great on cold winter days. They have a large parking lot. Staff is terrific. Always friendly and knowledgeable. Don't be afraid to ask about how to prepare certain types of fish that you are not familiar with. Lines can be long during the busy season but they move quickly. read more

I love lobster rolls and like to try them wherever and whenever I can. Many times there's too much mayo, celery or spices. But at Brauns it's just right. The lobster is the star. What was especially nice and rare to find is that the lobster was cooked perfectly. The meat wasn't chewy at all. It reminded me of the best rolls from maine. The only negative is the price. So I won't be having it too often but I will be back. Oh and try the lobster bisque too. One of the most flavorful I have ad in awhile. read more

I love Braun, for fresh fish this is one of the best(as is Southold Fish Market) places on the North Fork, but if you are going to be a great fish market and restaurant you need to have the very best lobster roll. The salty tomato laden mess that they served on a hero roll - stinks. $30 - I ordered without looking at the price. This was my second and last lobster related mishap at Braun - last time I ordered a lb. of lobster salad and was very surprised to find shrimp in it. Very disappointing. Next time I will buy a lobster and make the lobster roll myself - by the way, the only bread you need for a great lobster roll is a hot dog roll. read more
