So I can be very critical when necessary. But not with this beautiful family run restaurant and bakery. I never remember names, but the dad was in IT and got out and bought this orchard. Mom does the cooking and baking. And the daughters are the servers. Beautiful vibe and family. And friendly farm cats. A very small but fresh menu. My friend and I both had different quiches. This was the best quiche I ever had!!! We also split a bowl of oatmeal that was filled with goodies...nuts, granola, etc. we both had the tea/lemonade combo that was also wonderful. Then we went into the bakery to pay. But will all the goodies we both bought way too much stuff. In addition to the incredible baked goods they have frozen homemade soups, homemade jellies and jams, local honey, and much more. The sourdough English muffins were excellent. When we left one of the daughters was picking herbs from the raised beds. I had to think long and hard about whether to write this review. I want them to be successful but not too successful. I stopped in their farm bakery and was delighted with the offerings. They had pumpkin whoopie pies, frozen pies, soups, and more. The pumpkin whoopie pies were the best I've ever had. My husband agrees and he's a whoopie pie connoisseur. If you love farms, farm stands, and supporting local businesses, I highly recommend.

And when Summer gives way to Autumn, it's apple season. That brings one of our favorite seasonal treats of the year - the donut hole sized fresh made Apple Fritters from the "Apple Fritter Truck" (applefrittertruck.com) behind Glastonbury's Old Cider Mill on the weekends. The fritters are warm, sugary and cinnamon-y. Firm on the outside and pillowy in. Absolutely delicious. No matter how many you buy, they don't last very long at all. The Cider Mill and the associated farm have fun activities and shopping this time of year as well. This 75-acre farm opened as a U-Pick farm to the public since the 1980s. There are about 15,000…read moreapple trees which are no more than 6 feet tall due to the way it was planted. They planted it this way so people can reach it when the fruits are ready to be picked, genius idea. They also grow peaches, plums, nectarines, blueberries, various vegetables, and Asian pears. We went in September for apple picking. The parking lot was spacious, a nice farm stand, a patio area, and a picnic area. This year, apple picking started on 8/31/2024 and ends in late October. You have to check in at the window to purchase a ticket; they give you a bag and ticket for a tractor ride to the apple orchard. The farm stand has donuts, ice cream, cider, slushie, and a cafe. The tractor ride was fun; you can buy a ticket just for the tractor ride alone for $5 or $18 for a bag and tractor ride. We waited about 30 minutes for the tractor; it was the last tractor ride of the day and it was a busy Saturday. We went late in the season so most of the apples were picked over. We were able to get a bag full though. The property was amazing and the view of the hills from the orchard was lovely. After, we sat at the picnic table area and which had fire pits too. They had toys for the kids and there was live music. We tried out their hard cider (4-pack $24) and it was good. Overall, it's a fun place to do a fall festivitiy.

There was plenty of street parking and I old schooled the meter with a shiny quarter. The business is next door to Aroy Thai Garden (also vegetarian). Upon entering the brightly lit and freshly painted shop you will see a unique opening between the two businesses. Keeping the vegan flowing freely! There is seating at the front, near the windows and the cases filled with goodies are toward the back. We were immediately welcomed. The gentleman behind the counter excitedly greeted us. My son and I looked over the cookies, bars and cupcakes and finally decided on a tray of 4 cupcakes. We were here for my husband that does not eat dairy, most nuts and a list of other things. Before I made my picks I discussed what the nut free options were and when I stumped the nice man, he called his wife, the baker. Kudos to him for going above and beyond. We picked up Cookies and Cream, Boston Cream, Triple Chocolate....and I can't remember the 4th....but he ate it and enjoyed it! While I didn't actually try any of the sweets, my husband said that what he has had was good. He was told to savor them, because they were not inexpensive. Definitely worth the trip and the splurge.
