Also, we got there about 45 minutes before closing, there was no music playing, but as soon as I asked about it, she had the cook turn it on! And oh yes...the burgers were awesome! Found this little gem while on a road trip from Chico to Portland after taking the wrong exit! Thank goodness we did! The woman working the counter was fantastic! She was so helpful as I had my 2 children (2 and 1 month) and she brought over menus to us as well as our drinks (normally you order at the counter). The food was good. We had a grilled chicken sandwich and chicken nuggets with fries so nothing too over the top or difficult but it was hot, fresh and flavorful. The grilled chicken had great flavor and included mayonnaise, lettuce and tomatoes. Their ranch was obviously homemade and not just from a jar...delicious! Their prices were VERY reasonable!! There's a fairly large outdoor seating area which was very nice as well as a decent size parking lot in back. The bathrooms needed a code to get into, which they gave you when you order, and they were very clean! I'm not in the area often, but will definitely stop next time I am! read more

We love burger barn!! My family has been vacationing in Dunsmuir every year for as long as I can remember. And we always make a trip to burger barn (sometimes more than one) Their food is delicious, very fresh and tasty burgers! The staff is so nice and always eager to help. They have this ice cream machine that swirls flavor along the outside of the ice cream and it's delicious! They used to have one of these machines at Disneyland but now this is the only place I've seen one! Very worth the short detour off the 5 for a delicious meal! read more

Absolutely awesome place. I'm glad that we stumbled across this little eatery. There was one lady that was running the show. I wish I got her name, but she did the cash register AND the serving. Very friendly. The food was good and it felt better prepared that most other 'fast food' type eateries. Coupled with the ambiance of pictures of people in the community, it felt much more 'homely' and we definitely felt very welcome. It's especially military friendly. You can get a very good hamburger here, and they have milkshakes made with softserve. A 3 is a good rating. There are so many ratings by relatives and friends that every restaurant in town has a 4.5 rating and they aren't the same. So this is a nothing negative rating. Convenient location and parking. I go there now and then when I want one of the better hamburgers of my youth. The new owners are very nice folks. read more

The place itself is very nice, I love the street signs on the outside and the decor in the inside, we were assisted quickly and the staff were super friendly and nice. I had a grilled cheese, fries, and a Oreo shake. They have many milkshake flavors! The person who assisted us was very patient (because I couldn't decide on a milkshake flavor ). The booths were very clean. The pictures on the walls were very nice, pictures of old Dunsmuir or just old photos in general! There were also not many people there, so not a lot of waiting! There are also outside tables and chairs with a cover on the front of the restaurant. There were brochures and magazines inside for people to read. It wasn't VERY expensive, but I'd say average on the cheaper side. We went here after going skiing and it was very warm!! Great place, 10/10 would burger barn again. The burger barn was an excellent choice, they were able to facilitate our huge group without any prior warning. The food was excellent, and their sauces superb. Sleepy Dunsmuir was even quieter with social distancing the law of the land. Very little open but found this place open. Sign on door reminded take out only and stay 6 feet apart. The shakes are great also I almost forgot. The only thing is depending on what you order it can get a bit pricey but it is quality food no doubt. This place is great! I stopped by on the way to Portland, Oregon, from Santa Cruz, California, and this was an awesome place to stop for lunch! The Barn Buster was huge and an amazing value, and the onion rings were hot, fresh, and delicious! Cute little location and the the family owned atmosphere is quite apparent. Very friendly! I was craving a good corn dog..I thought that this place would be a perfect spot to get an old fashion great corn dog..but I was wrong..instead I got a barely warm foster farm corn dog with crappy cold fries. Ignore the comments about frozen buns (wtf?), they bake their own buns there, I've seen it! If they're out of bbq everything, the Philly Cheesesteak is good bet and, the Patty Melt absolutely kicks ass! Their shakes rule. My wife has 2 BB shakes per week (unbelievably, she's thin) and she's truly picky about her milkshakes - she loves 'em. They got my order wrong and when I politely told them I had ordered curly fries with my chicken instead of regular fries, the kid went in the back and loudly called me a "dumb bitch with the chicken strips". The girl who took our order brought out the curly fries and i was still polite when I told her that they are incredibly unprofessional and should talk quieter next time they want to talk about a customer. Horrible food. We were starving coming back to Redding from McCloud so we checked our the reviews. The people either love McDonald's or literally get paid to post the reviews because the frozen patties are rather tasteless meat. Decent seasoning but meat should have it's own flavor not just the seasoning. Definitely frozen because the texture is rubbery. Buns are store bought white bread cheapest you can find. Near Dunsmuir and hungry on a long drive up/down I5? Get off the freeway at Dunsmuir onto old highway 99 and give these folks your business instead of stopping at a chain. It's an unpretentious and friendly little place with good home-brewed iced tea and some of the best burgers I've had in a long time.
