Tiny little spot on the main street of Dunsmuir. Old school burgers, fries and shakes. During this time of year inside is a must as there was snow on the tables and very cold. We enjoyed our cheeseburgers fries and milk shake. Took some Philly cheesesteaks to go. Very friendly staff and quick to serve our food. They also gave us the local info of what was opened during this end of March time. Street parking available and in the back. Restrooms outside with code. They are closed Friday and Saturday and open the rest of the week.

I picked the wrong day to be in Dunsmuir as all the other restaurants were closed!! But I was happy to find this one open. I ordered the double cheeseburger with fries and a soda. My Mom ordered the fish and chips. The burger was good and fries were not bad. Soda was nice and cold and bubbly. Nothing really to write home about, but at least they were open on Mondays when we needed a late lunch. I would stop here again if I was in Dunsmuir, but only if the other restaurants weren't open.

First, let me apologize for the color of the photos. We were on a road trip with our Princess. Because of that, we ate almost all of our meals outdoors. The Burger Barn has red topped pop-ups, hence the red in the photos. We've been here before and make a point to stop by when we're in the area and need lunch. You get what you order, no more, no less. The prices are more than reasonable for non-fast-food fare. The staff is friendly and service is efficient. We ordered: Hamburger Mushroom Swiss Burger Tater Tots Onion Rings PIneapple Shake Coffee Shake I didn't bother taking photos of the shakes. Everything we had scored a solid 5. Even our dog loved the pieces of hamburger I gave her.

Burger alert, Burger alert, Burger alert. Not too often do we score burger joints high but Burger Barn is where it's at. Located in Dunsmuir, CA, Burger Barn is the classic joint that provides great service with great prices. We stopped by on Monday afternoon and was able to get seating. When entering the w, you're greeted with menus and great customer service answering any questions you may have. We order several burgers with fries and tots. All meals were served hot and perfectly seasoned. We didn't get to try the ice cream desserts but that will be for another day. Great experience and highly recommend any who enjoys a good burger give this place a try.

Burger too big!!! Pulled out a patty!! Awesome!!!!

Awesome!!!!!!! Stumbled on this local burger joint. ***** Onion rings were so yummy crispy just the way I love rings. And a huge bag. ***** Burger had too much meat. If that can happen. ***** Try it and you will love it. *****

I can't get enough of this place Literally so good! And a must place stop when driving through ‼ the best chicken nuggets you'll ever have ! The burger super juicy and delicious (shasta burger with jalapeños is what I got) let's not forget about the ice cream ‼ I got a Blue Goo milkshake but also comes in a cone! It taste like ice cream from when I was a kid ‍

Delicious burgers! The best part of road trips is finding local gems like this along the way. We ordered the Bacon Bleu and the Mushroom Swiss and both were so so good. This is a comfortable, clean place to eat and relax, we'd definitely stop in here again. I thought about taking one star off because, while the man that took our order was polite, he wasn't very friendly... but then I noticed he seemed to be experiencing some back pain on this day, so I want to cut him some slack on the friendliness thing - I hope you feel better soon, sir.

Very welcoming and very delicious burgers the Oreo shakes are a must the food came out quick I would definitely recommend if you're looking for something good, quick and not over priced..

    Veggie burger - so good!

Hands-down five stars. Easy. Decided to come here after reading about the over-priced burgs over at Yaks... SO GLAD we did! Our food was absolutely delicious, and I was so impressed by the fantastic service we got. Not only was the guy who took our order kind and patient, but he came outside when he saw we had our pupper on the patio and brought fresh water AND ICE for the water bowl for her - as it was a blistering hot day! It was a real above-and-beyond move and was so incredibly appreciated!. We got a soft serve cone that we ate first, because Dessert-First is a good way to live amiright? A few short minutes later the server brought out a tray of perfectly cooked and condiment-laden burgers, fries, onion rings, shakes, and sodas. GREAT service, clean patio to eat, delish, WELL-PRICED chow makes this place a home run! You won't be disappointed! Burger Barn FTW!

We stayed on site - our friends in a Rail Car, and we stayed in one of the few cabins available. The Rail Car ended up being the choice - it was clean, cool, and had character. Our room, though it had a kitchenette and a small living room, smelled terrible, and there were many obvious animal stains on the carpet. The bedding wasn't particularly comfortable either. While visiting, we decided to try the on-site restaurant - The Dining Car. The night we got in, we decided to go for dinner. Since it is touted as being popular, we made a reservation in advance to make sure we would be able to get in. We arrived a few minutes before 7p, and were asked to wait for a little bit before being seated. Ended up being about 10 minutes before we were escorted (group of 3) to our table. That was the last we saw of service until over 30 minutes later! We sat there with nothing but menus. Finally, I got up and went to the bar area to ask if we could move there so we could order food. A server showed up at our table a few minutes later - apologetic. Thing is, we got our initial order in, then ghosted again. First round of food and drinks shows up, and ghosted again. Finally we get to order food - almost an hour later. Dishes were pretty basic/classic, but I will say the steak I ordered from nearby Julian Meat company was one of the best rib eyes I have had in ages. It was flavorful and tender, and well prepared. The rest of the food on my plate was old and dried from a warming light. Others at the table received dishes more on the mediocre side. My partner ordered the risotto, which seemed tasty, but had a dry crust on it that betrayed it had been sitting under a heat lamp as well. Server comps a round of drinks for the delays. Then the server comes back and we order desert. We order coffee and beignets. Then nothing. another glaring gap in service. She comes back with an apple pie a la mode, and says that the beignets will be out soon (?). Another 20 minutes go by, and we finally get the beignets. She comps us the pie she brought without requesting. We didn't really want two deserts. Service was good when it was on, but inexcusable when it wasn't. If the steak I had hadn't been delicious, I would leave a 2 star review. Despite this, we went back for dinner the next night due to logistics, and had much better service. We had burgers, which were made with beef from Jenner Meat Co, which was delicious. They were reasonably well prepared, but served with cold fries. Despite THIS, we ended up doing breakfast service the next day on our way out - wanting better coffee than was available in the cabins. We sat outside on the deck. The table was a mess, including bird droppings, and sticky spots, but we persevered. Corn cakes ended up being an interesting treat, though undercooked made them pretty chewy/doughy. Croissant sandwich ended up being like a scramble - eggs, cheese, and sausage all in one big "glob" served on a toasted croissant. Not very inspiring. Overall, the food and service here is pretty rough. If I hadn't had one of the best steaks I have ever had, this would probably be approaching 2/5, but I will give them a 3/5. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. There seem to be problems here with service, as well as in the kitchen - queuing is not their strong point.

There is a definite ocean/ seafood feel. I was greater by a shy but pleasant and friendly young lady. She was helpful with the menu options and helped me understand the different specials for the day. I ordered the 1-piece fish, fried cheese bread and cup of chowder with a drink for $16.49. And just because I was craving shrimp as well, I also ordered a shrimp cocktail. This ended up being a lot more good than I could eat, and quite honestly, a great deal for the amount of food for under $30 nowadays!! The cocktail sauce is great; it has a little spicy kick but not too much to ruin the shrimp. The clam chowder is awesome. There is a lot of clam pieces, the flavor is really good and it was very filling. The fish cooked perfectly and not overly breaded and not over cooked. I was very impressed. The fried cheese bread is weird "to me" but it has a good flavor. I just wasn't crazy about the texture. Overall, if you're in the area, this is a must stop. I'm so happy I ate dinner here.
