This my family's go to spot for burgers. I always get the fig burger protein style and it always hits the spot. Another one of my favorite choices are the truffled tater tots. They have a variety of milkshakes, which are also really tasty if you're craving something sweet at the end of your meal. Very much enjoyed my visit... the food/drink/shake options, the ordering process, and the overall vibe of the restaurant. My Smokehouse Burger was an excellent take on a BBQ burger: thick smoked crunchy bacon, seasoning onion straws, melted cheddar, lettuce, tomato, a BBQ-Ranch sauce, cooked to order and served with a toothpick through a brioche bun.The bacon was tremendous! I tried a bit of the monthly shake, which contained brownies, and I definitely approved. It was a big shake! From Yelp pictures, it looks like the popular food choice is the Sunrise Burger! And with Chili Cheese Fries, which aren't on the menu, but are in someone's picture! That'll be my next choice! read more

Downtown Escondido is really fun to explore. There's an old historic vibe with new businesses trying to revive (read: keep alive) a relatively humble and old city. We came up this way to explore the Children's Museum (super fun) and play at Grape Day Park (super fun). With no in and out in sight.. the boys demanded burgers and this was the most recommended venue in the area. Easy street parking.. what appears to be dog friendly.. they have this nice open layout with cool benches to share.. and a very PB (Pacific Beach) vibe of come in, enjoy and eat with friends. Easy to read menu.. little sliders for the kids.. TOTS!!! and everything was delicious and tasty and tasted fresh (not frozen). It was a bit pricey~ but highly competitive with similar "artsy" burger joints. The spicy chicken sandwich was yum and juicy.. tots were yummy .. and they had some delicious looking ice cream drinks. Service was okay and they have great drinks. Definitely worth the try.. but keep in mind that you're paying a bit more for the "craft burger"/ "craft beer" experience. It isn't so exorbitant to avoid the return.. but definitely high enough to avoid frequency. Could be tasty in the summer to chill with a nice beer, brews, and then go play in the park. Since moving to north county, we've been on the hunt for some good burger joints. This one didn't disappoint. Minus one star only because I'm a stickler for cleanliness and the the burgers were good but a bit on the expensive side when you upgrade to waygu and Impossible patties. read more

My last review was very long so I'm going to try to make this as concise as possible. A little background - this is my first time here and I have a few dietary restrictions due to GERD (gastrointestinal reflux disease). What I got - The Classic Burger (medium-well), no tomato or onion, add avocado w/a pineapple cream soda. How it was - Patty, very juicy but honestly a little underseasoned. Sauce, good but similar to a thousand island so not super unique. Cheese, good, flavorful, cheese that melted well. Lettuce, good quality, fresh and crispy, but a little messy as it's shredded so it falls out of the sandwich. Buns, high quality bread, toasted well, but the fact the tops were buttered made handling a bit gross/greasy. Avocado, perfectly ripe! Soda, sweet but still very light and delicious! Service - Staff was kind and they played good music that wasn't too loud but still enjoyable (Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, and the like). Overall - My favorite burger places are still Slaters 50/50 (Huntington) and Grub Burger Bar (Whittier) but this place is my top for Escondido so far. We just happened to be in the area so we decided to try this place. When we got there it was super crowded. There were no seats available and it's a place that you have to try and grab your own seats quick! We finally were able to get a seat just in time for when our food arrived. I was surprised that's the burgers did not come with fries or something.. for the price around $10.00 a burger you would think fries would be included. The burgers were delicious very well made and had great flavors. The only complaint I have is the places seating arrangement and that the burgers didn't come with fries or something.. everything is ordered separately which I wish was advised when we were ordering. You can't expect that everyone is a local and already knows that everything is ordered separate. Definitely a 5/5 with food quality! It was very tasty!! read more

Their breakfast is only available on the weekends, but they start serving it up early. This is great because you can get solid breakfast staples and then get going with your day. Or you can stagger in later in the morning, order a drink, and have yourself an incredibly satisfying brunch. Whether you are going for their burgers or their breakfast, there are lots of good options. The Fried Chicken Sandwich or the Swiss Mushroom is my usual order. Very reliable and always tasty. Burger Bench has always been a favorite place for us and during COVID it's been challenging to enjoy good food. Well since grand has been reduced to one lane, there's plenty of outdoor seating so it's amazing to enjoy some great food. The strawberry lemonade is the best I've ever had while my boyfriend got to enjoy a grown up root beer float. When our food came out, it was piping hot. My boyfriend got to devour his smokehouse burger loaded with crispy bacon while I enjoyed a sunrise burger and you can't see it in the picture but those tater tots inside are perfect for absorbing the wonderful runny yolk. As for the truffle fries, there are no words to describe how delicious these are. It's mouthwatering just looking at the menu and having the challenge of deciding what you want to eat. You honestly can't go wrong with a single thing on the menu. Another perk is the local brews they carry. I'm all about stouts and love getting the 2am bike ride from fall brewing company is my absolute favorite. If you enjoy great food and beers, definitely visit this place. It was a mid afternoon on a Saturday, around 2:30, and the place was full when we walked in. We ordered at the counter and took a number to a table. Their menu is pretty straightforward. Not a ton of options, but there's something for everyone (traditional beef patties, turkey, veggie, etc)... they also have a basic set of sides (tots, fries, onion rings, etc). The food came out hot within a few minutes. Their burgers are huge. Omg. It was very juicy and flavorful. I had beer batter onion rings with my burger, and I love the flavor of beer battered onion rings. Very good, if anything, just a bit on the greasy/oily. Same with the tots, crispy and nostalgic but a bit greasy/oily (what did I expect, it's fried food!) lol. The other amazing thing about this place... their choice of fountain sodas! Don't expect basic cola or lemon-lime. Expect pineapple or acai. It was Really good, and I normally don't drink soda (not a fan of carbonated drinks).. Very casual vibe, kept clean. You can never go wrong with burgers and beer. Had two amazing burgers. One the left the Golden Rooster with a chicken patty twice as big as the bun. On the right is the sunrise burger. Their burgers are finger-lickin' good, their sides are huge, and the shakes are GOLD. Oh and parking is a breeze because you're not in Downtown or North Park! They have a slider sampler, which is what I ordered the first time we tried Burger Bench. It gives you the chance to taste their different flavors, but my all-time fave would be the chorizo burger. If you like spicy, this is where it's at! Super duper flavorful and filling. Their mud pie shake is also one of my most favorite things - I don't care if it consumes all of the next day's calories. It's worth it. You can order half and half sides, but the truffle fries are the winners here. Onion rings come in at a close second.
