I looked at a row of five businesses nearby. I had visited 60% of them. I chose to get a bite to eat at Hero Certified Burgers. I love burgers. I had never been to Hero until last night. I did a quick look at its online menu. I saw a classic hero burger special going for $4.99. Toppings were extra, but I was okay to try it out. There weren't a lot of vehicles in front of this eatery at around 6 pm. My original thought was to walk over from Cineplex to Hero, but it was raining. I decided to get into my car and drive closer to Hero. I have never had any issues finding parking here. The lot is vast. I walked in. There was a couple seated across from the order area. I saw a lone man making food. I did not ring the bell. I'd give him the peace to work on this couple's meal while looking over the menu. I did not see the classic hero burger special. I was prepared to ask the man once he was done. He was great letting the couple know that their food was ready. He then went to help me. He seemed tired. I asked what specials he had. He only saw the heavy hitter burger, which looked huge. It was going for $13.99. Um, no. I indicated that there was a classic burger going for $5. He acknowledged this deal and let me know that it didn't have many toppings, other than pickles, onions, and ketchup. I was okay with it. I made it a combo, but swapped out the fries for mushroom poutine. I paid roughly $13 for my meal, which would have been the price of that heavy hitter burger alone. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. I got a cup. Lids and straws are at the order counter. This eatery has a Coke Freestyle machine. Sweet! I started with a Barq's vanilla root beer. It was clear in colour. I was expecting brown. I was so amazed by its clearness that I drank it without a lid. It was cold, especially with the ice that I had added. I loved it. I found a table next to the drink machine. I sat down and waited for my food. The nice man came over with my food when it was ready. I thanked him. It looked amazing. The mushroom poutine uses vegetarian gravy, so it's a bit thinner than regular gravy. The mushrooms were portobello. Meaty. I do think that they tasted borderline from a can. I loved the cheese curds that melted with the hot gravy. The fries were perfect. Delicious! I loved the classic hero burger. It was a thick angus beef patty. It worked well with the red onions, pickles, and ketchup. The bun had sesame seeds and was toasted. It was so good holding this burger together. I don't know why it took me this long to have a burger at Hero. My meal as excellent without breaking any bank. I used the washroom before I left. There's one stall for women and another for men.
