This place is open Monday-Saturday from 11am-9pm. Closed on Sunday. The hours are wrong. Man I'm always looking for a good hood spot to go to! Just good home cooking made fresh. I got the 2 pork chop basket. Comes with fries, pickles, and peppers. I didn't want my bread toasted so I just asked for plain white bread. The season was on point. Food The food here is absolutely amazing, it's a location where everything has a different taste and you'll need to visit several times to get a full idea of how it all taste. The portions are BIG I doubt you would be able to sample multiple things at once unless you're taking a single bite of each. The tenders are really big, the burgers are big also. Price wise the average is about $9-$10 for smaller order sizes and up to $25 for larger ones. Service It's a small business attached to a convenience store so there's not a huge employee presence like a franchise location. There are usually 2 people working, both are very kind and will take your order and have good conversation with you. They're always kind to me each time I come and sometimes they're throw in small extras to make the meals even better. Ambiance Like I mentioned previously, it's attached to a convenience store so people are in and out, but their section has about 4 small tables setup where you can sit and eat and if you want a drink just take a few steps across the floor to the store cooler and grab something. I tried Big Boi's for the first time today as I was looking for a good chicken joint that was non-commercial. I placed the order ahead and got to the place a bit early. The staff was friendly, hospitable and appeared to enjoy the work that they do. I bought an order of 6-pc wingettes, 3-tenders, and 2 pc. catfish for my family. The portion sizes were generous and the food was well seasoned. My only criticism is that the fish was a tad bit too salty for me (but the wingettes were perfection)! I also didn't get a jalapeño or pickles with my chicken basket, but it was okay since I took my daughter's from her fish basket. Overall, the customer service was exceptional! The food was on point and I definitely plan to return and try other menu items. Side note, even my husband loved it (and he complains about food often). This was my first time at this establishment. I didn't have any expectations since I was trying to find a place real quick after leaving work. I had the Catfish Sandwich and loaded brisket fries. I've shown what I received and what was advertised. I'll start with the catfish sandwich. The catfish is actually real catfish and not Swai which was a good thing. The catfish was fried perfectly and crispy. The grease did taste like it needed to be changed but the catfish was seasoned decently. A homemade tartar sauce or Cajun tartar sauce would make this a lot better. The loaded fries were really good. The brisket was juicy. The sausages were sautéed well and the bbq sauce was very good. So we were looking for find som good chicken and waffles on New Years Day and most places were closed except for Big Boi's!!! The food was fire! The chicken was crispy and the waffles were sweet with a touch of cinnamon and the perfect amount of butter! The Cajun mac and cheese turkey leg was pretty good too! Our kids got the breakfast sandwich was quite the whole time they ate so it was good! Everyone one very nice and the food was cooked fresh! I rarely eat lunch, but was hungry yesterday and looking for something different. That's a but tough to find in that "food mecca" called Mesquite. Big Boi's looked like something different and decided to give it a try. I saw they had a fried pork chop sandwich and it had been a long time since I had one of those. It was perfectly cooked with the right amount of a very flavorful breading. According to the other customers, everything on the menu is great. They evidently have some huge hamburgers and stuffed baked potatoes. I'm going back next time and tryout the chicken and waffles. This is what you would call a dive that gets a 10.0 by this judge. I was initially weary of this place because being honest it's not easy on the eyes at all being at a sort of run down corner store. But man looks definitely can be deceiving, the chicken & waffle tender basket is my go to as the waffle is nice and fluffy while the tenders are seasoned to perfection. I will say fries could really stand a bit longer in the hot oil to crisp them up a little. Overall this is usually a can't miss. read more

I didn't even need sauce they're so crispy and fresh out of the frier. I only wish the waffle was separated because it's so tasty just a bit on the soggy side if you get it to-go! It's set in an old Braum's Ice Cream shop that I use to go to as a kid. It shares a building with a convenience store that mostly sells alcohol but I did find some of my favorite Mexican sodas and sparkling waters that I love since I don't drink.
