Stopped in for a quick lunch break. I didn't have time to tackle the half pound burger, so I ordered a quarter pound with onion rings. It was the best quarter pound burger I've had in my lifetime. I thought I went to the wrong location... the people were nice but that's about it. I can't speak on the ambiance of the place because I went when it was still light out (there wasn't any other customers.) The photos online were nothing like now. The menu is one page. (Technically halve but the font was so large.) The burger and eggs are grilled but everything else is microwaved. I watched my $10 fries be microwaved. Very disappointing. Local grill in heart of Garland, TX. Had the Big Kahuna Burger and Bad Ass Fries. Big Kahuna was two 1/2 lb patties with Swiss cheese and bacon. Fries had cheese and bacon with ranch dressing. All five of us got the Chicken Tenders for lunch. This entree includes three tenders and is served with biscuits and gravy... for $4.25. I added onion rings for $2.50 (they were good, but no need to order again in the future). The tenders were very, very good! I dipped them in the gravy (a la chicken fried chicken), but also in Ranch. Burgers at the surrounding tables looked pretty tasty, so I plan to get one the next time we eat here. This is a busy place for lunch. The space is divided in half, smoking and non-smoking (we had to sit on the smoking side because non was full - which was like stepping back in time since I mistakenly thought everyplace went non-smoking years ago!). I have to say, this place was really good. It is a diner by day and a bar by night, so my review is based on the day version of the place, because I have never been here at night. The place is unassuming, at the corner of a strip of warehouses. When you walk in, you will see it as more bar than restaurant, but only until your food arrives. My breakfast was the Sausage and Cheese Omelet, which came with hashbrowns and sausage, it was really delicious! My little one had the shortstack with Bacon and I will admit I snuck a bite and the pancakes were pretty darn good. It's the quintessential "greasy spoon" burger joint. Roll up your sleeves and dive in to one of Darren's "bad-ass" burgers! Since discovering this hidden gem a few years back, we've eaten here at least once a month for lunch. The burgers are made to order, greasy, and oh so good! I usually get the "half-ass burger" with cheese and with...get this...fresh grilled jalapenos...WOW! It's a life changing experience! The names of the burgers are hilarious: Bad-Ass, Half-Ass, Total-Ass, No-Ass, etc... The fries are fresh, but nothing noteworthy whereas the ambiance and random wall art is quite entertaining. Ok dont be freaked out by the way it looks outside. It's in an industrial area. When you step inside also not so hot. Looks like an old dark bar from the 80,'s. My 5 stars are for the food. My husband I got take out because we were not wanting to sit in the dark. I order the 18 ounce steak dinner and he ordered the club sandwich. I was very pleased with cook and seasoning on my steak. It was very yummy and a good value at only $20. The sandwich was also good. Whoever is cooking in there needs to get out of that dark bar because they can seriously cook. This place isn't exactly in a high traffic area, so you either have to drive by it and go in, or see a Yelp friend give it a great rep. Thanks Lori S. It's dark and kind of dive bar like, I sat at the bar, cause it was crowded at lunch time(always agood sign), and I didn't need a whole table for little ole. The bartender was sharp and on top of all the drink orders while taking total care of me and the other bar mates as well. Now, I wouldn't be able to say that I have a hair on my ass, if I walked into a place, they had something called the Total Ass Burger, and I didn't order it. So, bring on the delicious burger patty, gooey Swiss and American cheese, crispy bacon, and very flavorful hot link sausage....yup, you heard that correctly. Then(and I love this), you can go over to the condiment bar, and put what ever and however much, fixins you want on top of your burger. All of that mixed together was a great greasy taste explosion. It's a good thing there are enough paper towel rolls around this joint to soak up the Gulf of Mexico, cause you're gonna need them. And the fries were great too, a nice mix of crispy and some a little soggier. Looking around, the Pot Roast seemed to be fairly popular, and looked delicious, a little pricey for lunch at a cafe though. Smoking sections inside is so foreign to me now, so that was a little shocking, but they must have good ventilation, cause it was hardly noticeable. From the looks of it, and the banter around the regulars at the bar, this place turns into a good spot when the sun goes down, to have a few oat sodas and blow off steam from the daily grind. Then one of the cooks came out and sat next to me, striking up some convos with my bar mates(his real-life mates), turns out he's the owner. So I gave him some cafe props, and he couldn't have been a nicer guy, and that goes a long way into being successful, take care of your customers and make them want to come back for several reasons. Okay, so, today I want to tell you about Garland Grill restaurant on Kingsley Road in Garland Tx. I've thought about writing a review of this place at least once a week for the last few years but didn't for purely selfish reasons. It's one of my little secret "best foods best prices" eating places and I don't want everyone finding out about it and crowding me out. Still, fair is fair, so, here's what I love about this restaurant: you will have a hard time finding better homestyle food at such low prices. Plus, the staff is nice and treats their job as if they were the owners. That type of service goes a long way with me. I added a star because the cig smoke situation seems to have disappeared AND the food is totally BAD ASS as the menu states! I go with co-workers after working on Saturdays (sometimes during the week) to this place. The burgers are awesome! Fries are pretty awesome too.. Been going there for over a year. Recently sold to a new owner. The scenery has gotten better and the food is decent. They NEVER bring you silverware with your meal. Have to go to the salad bar for lettuce and tomatoes and dressing for your hamburger. Went today and got a brisket sandwich which was OK. I ordered a side of fries and a coke. The total was $10.50. I think that is very high considering pricing at other joints in the area for good burgers. And you even have to load it yourself. Salad bar here is lame, at best, so not a lot of choices for a burger. Tweak the pricing or see ya. read more

It might not look the best but this place you should try out. you can't really mess a burger up for me but you cant go to any place and order a "big ass burger" the names of all the burgers have to do with the ass. The quality has one downhill. I had the half ass burger and the only real problem was the CHEAP buns. When the burger came the bottom bun was a soggy mess. It did not hold together. The burger fell apart. the men's restroom was atrocious . It smelled of old piss. The floor was dirty. No hand soap the dispenser was covered in dirt and the sink was the same way. We just stopped by here for the first time today while running errands, and we had some of the best burgers ever. Been going, for 10 years, and i had to repeat order 6 times over today and still got wrong. Why can't I get 2 badass burgers, one with lettuce tomato and onion, and the other just the badass burger. They asked me 6 times how do you want your burger. I get there some Chinese lady says I'll take your tip, in other words her pocket. Who it was meant for, was chef. They don't do the same service as six or seven years ago when Darren owned it..... after this experience I doubt I'll ever go back there again. My husband I enjoy going to small places and meeting new people while enjoying a few cocktails and great food. We got none of that at The Garland Grill. The waitress/bartender was obviously annoyed we were there, however she was very friendly with what appeared to be the regulars of the establishment. The burgers had no flavor but the cheese fries were ok. I only ate a quarter of my burger and my husband only ate half. We were never offered a second drink and never checked on after our food was delivered. When we asked for our check the waitress/bartender acted sort of ticked off that we were asking for something. To the guy who's has been to The Grill "14" times too many, please get a life, if you've been there 14 times it can't be that bad! In fact, The Garland Grill has the best burger at least in Garland if not the entire area, any claims to the contrary are ridiculous!! The Ribeye steaks at $ 20.50 which includes salad, steak fries or baked potato, is the best steak I've eaten anywhere, also the beer and mixed drink prices are very reasonable, $ 2.25 beer every day between 4 and 7!
