Decent burger. They have a wide range of options for burgers and other sandwiches. Burgers are massive and you get a butt load of fries too. Fries come out with salt and pepper. I liked them better than the burger. Not to say the burger was bad, cause it wasn't. Just not spectacular. Had one of the curly fries and it was very plain to me. Not worth the extra money for them. I ordered the mushroom burger and it was fine. Not superb; not awful, just ok. They should have used swiss instead of provolone, and should have used brown mustard instead of mayo, so I kind of question their judgment. With my burger, I ordered curly fries, which has a dollar upcharge. I'm not a huge fry fan, and curly fries usually have more seasoning on them, so that's why I wanted them. Unfortunately, these were the blandest curly fries ever, and they were nothing special as far as texture either. I tried one of the regular fries and it was much, much better. So I felt a little ripped off for paying an extra dollar for subpar fries. I wouldn't avoid going again, but if I do, I'd probably order a sandwich instead of a burger, and of course I'd get regular fries. BTW in case you're wondering why everyone posts pictures of the light fixtures, it's because they are ENORMOUS. They are a little overwhelming when you first walk in, and one of them swings back and forth so you wonder if it's haunted. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken was very tough and hard to bite through. I couldn't finish. The seasoned fries were great.

I work at the ER near this location. I routinely order from this location with large orders, usually with no notice. I have always received fast friendly service and the food is always incredible! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is craving a burger. You will not be let down. read more

We've been to Burger Island before, just another location. We were greeted promptly as we entered and were seated immediately. What we weren't expecting, from the whole dine in experience at this location, was the semi sewage like smell, if this makes sense. Not sure if it was a plumbing issue and where it was exactly but anyhow, it wasn't so extreme but definitely can throw you off. Even my 6 year old mentioned it. Our server was great, he was also new but even so, very quick to get our drinks and even our order in and he checked on us often. My daughters burger had to be taken back for having mayo in it but no biggie. It was fixed fast too. Those burgers are huge! I almost finished all of mine but finally tapped out. Lots of curly fries/regular fries on each combo. Huge glasses for water, which we never had to get a refill on. We could have chosen a fountain drink but opted for water instead. Good size drinks on kids meals, as well. Honestly it's like the regular size drinks you get at Wendy's, McDonalds, etc. Great food, just thrown off by the plumbing situation. I do recall Palio's pizza at the opposite corner with this issue at a certain visit a very long time ago, so it could very well be a bigger issue involving other places of business as well, not sure though. Hubby and I stopped in for a quick bite when in town visiting family. We split the Philly cheesesteak and an order of clam strips. The Philly was really quite good and had a great ratio of meat to veggies. We upgraded the combo to have onion rings instead of fries and the rings were also very good. Clam strips were tasty but the same can't be said for their tartar. It had an odd taste. Not an "it's bad" taste, just odd. Neither of us could put our finger on it but it definitely wasn't great. The rest of the meal was quite enjoyable though and we would definitely eat here again next time we're in the area. read more

First time in Burger Island of Rowlett. It's in the shopping center with Tom Thumb on Dalrock. How did I miss this place??? Excellent beef patties, cooked to order, default size of patty is 1/2 pound but they can make any of their 18 gourmet burgers in a 1/4 pound size. The mushroom cheeseburger is off the chain good, and the fries taste like homemade. Great discovery for foodies when you just gotta have BEEF! You can never go wrong with Burger Islands classic Jungle Burger! I love how they put so many toppings on it and everything taste just so delicious!!! It is a big area so its never been crowded there. The service is fantastic and I never had an issue with them. The burgers are so flavorful and everything melts in your mouth. Im just craving another one as I type this! Since there is alot in the Jungle Burger, it can get a little messy but I just eat whatever falls out with a fork and it is honestly fine! The fries are just ok nothing too special. Its called season fries but they do add a lot of pepper (maybe they just accidentally put too much) but other than that Burger Island is the place to go! Ok, I'm giving it two stars only because it does have good food; however, it is not good enough to make up for rude staff. The little guy working the counter is a rude ass. I understand everyone is having a bad day thanks to COVID, but that doesn't make being rude ok. If you do not have better manners than this, maybe you should stick to cleaning toilets. I will give this place credit for having good food. The Big Island burger is large and tasty. The fries are a lightly seasoned treasure as good as the fries anywhere around here. Burger Island was a place that I was kind of excited to visit. I mean, a delicious burger joint less than 5 minutes from my house? Hell yeah! Anyone who has lived in this small town can tell you that decent food that doesn't come with a drive-thru window is hard to find around here, so Burger Island sounded pretty bomb. Imagine my disappointment. But let me first start with the good. The food is actually pretty yummy. The burgers are big, the fries are pretty fresh, and the meat is well seasoned and its all pretty cheap. If there is any criticism I can make about the food it would be that the only cheese options they seem to have are American and provolone. I know the stuff is cheap but I would at least appreciate the option to upgrade to an ACTUAL cheese rather than "processed cheese product". But I digress. My real problem with Burger Island lies not with the food, but with the service we received. Look, I've been in customer service and I'm a pretty forgiving customer. I know stuff happens and I'm willing to overlook mistakes and hiccups. I will not, however, overlook one thing, being ignored. If I come into your establishment and offer you money for your service I expect to be attended, no excuses. After walking into Burger Island we waited at least 10 minutes before someone even offered to take our drink order. That was after I waved the girl down on her 3rd or 4th trip to customers sitting around us. When I informed her that we'd been waiting 10 minutes her reply was a giggle and an "awe man that's cool". No honey, I assure it's not. She must have seen the look on my face while she was filling my drink because she made a sorta-apology about the wait when she brought it. What she didn't do was come back to refill said drink until 15-20 minutes later when our food finally arrived. Apparently, the point hadn't sunk in that keeping people waiting isn't service. All in all, as I said, the food was good but the service was so appalling poor that I definitely won't be heading back anytime soon. I'll pay a little more for a burger if it means I don't have to feel like an imposition on someone's day. read more

I have dined in at this location, as well as picked up for lunch with coworkers. That being said: I definitely had an issue with service while dining in, but overall enjoyed the food enough that take-out or delivery is an outstanding option for me. The sign on the door as you enter reminds you how hard the wait staff work, and to remember them come time for gratuity. I arrived for my dine-in experience at 3:30 in the afternoon with only one other couple enjoying late lunch. Numerous employees were toiling around, with one approaching me immediately, but after my order was taken and drink delivered, the attention given me was substandard at best. I wasn't asked for a refill until my check arrived....and this was with hardly anyone in the joint. Even still, the food was phenomenal and I walked out with an entire other meal. With their service woes in mind, the next visit involved a take-out experience with coworkers. The food was once again awesome, ready promptly, and superfluous. I said nothing of the first visit, and my coworkers were impressed to a T. Warning: They do not scrimp on the fries or hash browns, people. I made the mistake of ordering a side of hash browns with my burger because I didn't require a drink. This...side....was....ENORMOUS. I opened up the container, took a breath and a normal human serving from the side, then took the remaining three pounds and placed them in the break room. Mad props.... read more

If you are a fan of big ole, greasy, gooey, everything on it burgers...Welcome home kid. First of all, this place would have gotten 4 stars, if it didn't take forever for my lunch to be ready. But it was worth the wait. All of their burgers are a big ole half pound, I got the Big Island Burger, which has lettuce, tomatoe, pickles, mayo, mustard, grilled onions, mushrooms and jalopenos, and BOTH american and provolone cheese...and this is the most standard of the specialty burgers! I can't even get into the Jungle Burger, i don't have enough time to type up all of the ingredients. This burger was huge, juicy, delcious, and the two kinds of cheese made it all kinds of gooey and melty. And they cook the onions, jalopenos and onions all together on the grill. It had toasted buns and came out HOT, but i guess that shouldn't be a suprise since it sat on the grill for a few days...just kidding fellas. The fries looked handcut, and were cooked perfectly. The staff was great, my waitress took good care of me and was apologetic for the wait. The manager was a cool guy too, he asked me if i finished my burger, and i had to look back at it over my shoulder, then look back and shake my head no. I'll get'em next time though! read more

My wife and I recently gave Burger Island a go because we just wanted a good burger that wasn't just another Fast Food mess thrown together. First walking into the place you notice their abundant seating and nice open kitchen. It's actually refreshing to see a Burger place have their grills out in the open so you can actually SEE if they're clean. As you can guess, their primary menu offering is bugers. Their MONSTER offering is the Double Island Burger which looks HUGE. Lord know I'd never be able to finish that, but we've had their burgers both Beef and Turkey. They were fantastic! I was a LITTLE disappointed by the fries, as they were soggy and a little undercooked. I'll have to see how they are a second time around. It's a nice little place and we're going to be repeat customers. :) read more

I have taken home burgers every time from this place. Their burgers are large and juicy. Various types available and all are good so far. They give huge amounts of fries and onion rings to go. It's really hard in my opinion to mess up burgers and fries. This place does hit the spot and leaves you full and satisfied every time. I have eaten many burgers and Burger Island still has the best burger I have ever had. I can only eat half of it because it is so big. I always get 2 meals from 1 burger and fries. With that being said, it makes it cheaper to eat here than at McDonalds and of course the taste is 10 times better too. I love the Jungle Burger and their hot sandwiches. If you get fries to go, keep the box open to get air or the fries will be soggy when you to your destination. read more

One thing I will say about this place is that they have a variety of offerings on the menu if you're not in the mood for a burger. I happened to order the chicken quesadillas. They tasted OK, but I could've whipped up the same thing at home and probably would've tasted better. They have sweet potato fries that looked pretty good and also onion rings that was thick sliced and heavily battered. Typical frozen food variety rings. I was with a large party of about 15 on the evening that I went and the young girl who was waiting on our party was very friendly and efficient so I have to give her props for good service. Their sweet potato fries are some of the better ones I've had, and the onion rings are really fresh, too. The service staff is mostly youngsters, so forgive them if they get distracted. They'll definitely get you started off right, at least. You might be better off just ordering take-out. The place is huge, and most often a bit empty if it's not dinner time.
