Fresh ingredients from ground beef to veggies to hand cut fries. The setup is where you can see everything a d watch the cooks prepare your menu items We had traditional cheeseburgers-HUGE. My daughter convinced me one order of fries would be enough for two us..she was more than right. The special seasoning on the fries really good, no clue what it was. Since it was my first time here I didn't want to venture away too far from the basic burger and fries but the menu offered extensive list of burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads and sides. The restaurant itself was clean, spacious, plenty of window seating. Courteous staff..very important! read more

Massive burgers! In this case bigger is definitely better. While the burgers aren't the most flavorful ever made, their sheer size and the great toppings really knock it out of the park. Not only are the portions magnum, the menu has about 567,391 options too, which is a good thing. If burgers aren't your bag, try a philly cheese steak, a monster salad, or even clam strips. This place has everything, the fantastic variety saves what would normally be a standard burger place and makes it really unique. Review used to be 4-stars, the quality has gone down a little (and so has the service), but the variety is still great. It's a good casually place to go for lunch every now and then. read more

How hard is it to get the order right. This is the second time I've ordered from here and specifically asked for extra crispy tator tots and have not gotten them. I ordered a burger with no onion and guess what it had onions all over it. This is one of my absolute favorite burger places. Burgers are always fresh, the sweet tea is amazing and they load you up with French fries or tater tots whichever you choose. My husband loves their sweet potato tots. Service is pretty quick and you can look directly into the kitchen watching them prep your burger in front of you if you choose. read more

Good food but 9/10 times you go, you get terrible service. Tonight I went and I get the same thing every time. I was then told they had no such thing as a side salad (even though I get it every time) and then they charged me an extra $8 more than what the price usually is.. we explained that can be correct because we get the same thing every time??? My helper and I were working out in Rowlett when we happened upon Burger Island and were pleasantly surprised. As mentioned by several others here, the service is awfully slow, good thing we weren't in a hurry. We ordered an appetizer of onion rings that weren't brought to us until the burger came out. Nonetheless, that was the best burger I've had in years. We got a mushroom with onions and cheese. and shared it. Half of the burger was more than enough to full us up. The onion rings were good, but the burger was the star attraction. The meat was completely cooked yet juicy and flavorful. The condiments were fresh and tasty and even the bun it was served on was fresh without being soggy. Observing the cooks behind the counter as we were leaving reinforced how much attention the cook gives each sandwich. The various sauces and ingredients were tempting and I can't wait to go back and try a different burger until I had tried one of each. I'd highly recommend this hamburger joint to anyone who has a little time,and wants a really good burger. read more

Food is normally really good. But an employee(looked to be a 18-19 male) became very rude, insulting, hostile and then confrontational. I have never experienced this before. There was no dine in so I went in to get my food. I had a mask on because the store had a sign requesting a mask. Half of the employees in the restaurant had there mask pulled of or had it below there mouth. I don't care about the mask either way but when I asked why would they shut down inside dining, the employee got sarcastic and rude. read more

I've been a fan of Burger Island ever since I first ate at the Mesquite location. Seeing that they were opening up in the shopping center at the corner of Dalrock and Lakeview Pkwy. in the old Bajio location naturally made me very excited even if I was kind of worried about the effect it will have on my waistline. This location has only been open since March of 2009 but appears to be growing a nice customer base already. I dropped in Saturday, suffering from the after effects of my fun the night before in search of something to make me feel a little better. Nothing does that for me like a nice plump, juicy, greasy burger. We opted to start off with the fried pickles and they were phenomenal. They are pickle wedges, not little thin slices like alot of places serve. They are served with a side of ranch which perfectly complements them. For the main course I went with the jalapeno cheeseburger while the wife, being the more health conscious one, went with a grilled chicken sandwich. At first, I was like WTF, ordering a chicken sandwich at a burger joint, but was pleasantly surprised. I only asked for a bite of her sandwich but ended up taking at least 3 or 4 bites. And that was after finishing the mouth watering jalapeno cheeseburger. Anyways, about that burger. If you leave this place not full, something is wrong. They give you a 1/2 lb fresh angus patty, and 1/2 lb might be on the lighter side as it seems to be bigger than that. The jalapenos are sliced up and grilled and placed on top of the burger, then topped with american cheese and lettuce, tomato, and onion. While the jalapenos do give it some kick, it is not mouth scorching hot at all. If you do struggle with spicy stuff and decide to order it, I'd bring some rolaids or tums. Service was very prompt, our food arrived just a few minutes after we ordered it. It seems to have improved greatly over when they first opened. I did walk in one time and they told me it would be 45 minutes to an hour wait....FOR A BURGER! In their defense however, they were packed, had the Rowlett Fire Dept. there eating lunch, and were probably experiencing the normal growing pains of a newly opened business. As this was an existing restaurant, it does not look like your typical burger joint. The inside is very nice and appears very clean every time that we visit. I thought it couldn't get any better, then as I was leaving and paying the check, the owner tells me they deliver. Looks like on those Saturdays that I don't feel like leaving the house I wont have to after all. Not the best burger ever, but very, very good. I'd venture to say the best option in Rowlett at the moment. read more

Recently ate Jungle Burger in Rowlett. I asked for my burger to have no jalapeno's. After my first bite i noticed it was loaded with jalapeno's so picked them all off and took another bite, but there was no removing the hot taste so mentioned to our Server that the burger came out with Jalapeno's. I told her that i didn't want to pay for the burger and she flippantly told me that she would only give me a discount on the burger. I then asked for a manager and she walked away with her hands straight up in the air yelling, "I am not going to deal with this today!". She later came back to my table to tell me they would give me a 30% discount (on a burger that was served incorrectly and had 2 bites) and then walked away. She never came back to the table. I had to go to the counter and check out. Never once did i receive an apology for the burger being served incorrectly and was forced to pay for a burger that I did not consume (less 30% discount). The rest of the meal was fine and no problem paying for any of it. It was only the Jalapeno infested burger that i had an issue with. I will never eat at their establishment again. read more

I'm giving 4 stars because they really do serve great burgers! The meat is cooked perfectly and the buns taste homemade. I can't believe we haven't tried this place sooner. My only complaint is that they seated us at a dirty table then sighed when we asked for it to be wiped down. After that our server was nice and helpful. We'll go back for sure. read more

Wow, what a difference between this location in Rowlett compared to the dingy, dirty location in Sachse. This must be one of the originals. Very nice decor with wait service and fresh, made to order burgers. Today, we had the hickory and guacamole burgers and both were very good. Juicy and fresh on a warm bun. Yesterday, first time we ordered from here. Husband came home with two Jungle Burgers. Holy cow! I could only eat 1/2 of it. Tasted really good.
