Their warm house baked breads with soft butter started us well. I took the prix fixe special of the night and I could not have been happier. The scallops were numerous, the specialty gazpacho so filling, I only ate half, the tagliatelle was perfect. The grilled artichokes are a fave for me. I gave the ice cream from my cinnamon roll a la mode to my husband so it worked out well for both of us. All of us loved our food and the experience. But we were so talkative, I never got pics of their meals or any of our drinks. My husband loved his beer, my cousin her wine, her husband his drink. I would certainly eat there again when in the area.

My boyfriend also got a strawberry milkshake that he said was excellent. I had a strawberry mojito and it was STRONG but good. Definitely made the drink worth the money. The only thing I didn't like on the plate was the pickles. The waitress said they were made in house "bread and butter" style but they kind of just tasted like honey. I'm a pickle lover and these ones did not do it for me. The resturant itself was comfortable (with their own parking lot which is rare in West Hartford) but I didn't love the layout. It kind of reminded me of a church community center with a bunch of tables in a basement and not the best artwork. Compared to other Max locations, this one's decor was a little lack luster. Went back today for lunch after our exploratory visit last Saturday, Only 8 of us plus driver for…read morethis trip. Weather was perfect and there was plenty of space for us; they told me that Thursday lunchtime was the best for a group. Most of us sat at one of the round booths with two eating outside. Most purchased their lunches from Small State Provisions with the Jambon Beurre the most ordered. Others inside had the Salmon Toast or Spicy Roast Beef. Outsiders ordered from Twin Beaks and had the Caesar Salad Fried Chicken Wrap. Everyone enjoyed what they had and all commented on the size of offerings and great price level. Cafē Pausa served most drink orders. They were amazed at the service and truly astounded that there was free water! Many commented they when they had family visitors at the retirement community they would ask to be taken there for lunch again.
