"You better watch where you go and remember where you been That's the way I see it I'm a Simple Man". (Charlie Daniels) We overlook them sometimes, take them for granted, and don't even think twice when they cross our path. So let's reflect for a short time on the simple pleasures of life. Like a really, really, really good hamburger. Truthfully, I don't eat hamburgers a lot, except for the occasional turkey burger. But I had a real deal beef hamburger last night and it was absolutely wonderful !! The dining room was pretty crowded and we saw a lot of families with young kiddies there -no doubt the result of their menu (burgers, dogs, fries and shakes), free peanuts, and family friendly pricing structure. If you want a hamburger at Five Guys, be aware that you have a lot of hamburgers to choose from. Their menu boasts a Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Bacon Burger, Bacon Cheeseburger, Little Hamburger, Little Cheeseburger, Little Bacon Burger, or Little Bacon Cheeseburger. Both of us went for the Little Hamburger, but if you think it was a teeny tiny White Castle sized of a slider, you'd be wrong. At $6.39 it was a pretty good-sized burger and tasted great - fresh and juicy and just freaking perfect! A cool thing about Five Guys is that you can pile on a ton of free toppings, like Mayo, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, Grilled Mushrooms, Ketchup, Mustard, Relish, Onions, Jalapeño Peppers, Green Peppers, Bar-B-Que Sauce, Hot Sauce, and A1 Sauce. We split a small order of their store made fresh cut fries for $4.19 and neither of us felt cheated, their small order is very generous. They have one of those fancy Coke freestyle machines which are always fun to play with, but $2.49 for a Coke Zero Vanilla gave me buyer's remorse. Just a few improvement opportunities we noticed - my wife's burger wasn't what she ordered, apparently her custom burger was tossed into someone else's bag, and when she unwrapped hers the mistake was discovered. They replaced it with no questions asked and said we could keep the one given to us in error. In a high-volume place like this, accidents definitely will happen and it was nice to see how painlessly they addressed it. I really liked the music on their sound system, but OMG was it loud - much too loud. Tone it down a few cranks, please? Anyway, we had a very pleasant experience at Five Guys. All Hail those Simple Pleasures !!

They made us feel welcome and were very helpful to us newbies. Our orders were taken and we were explained the process. Most of the condiments are self-serve. Both times I had the chili, yellow mustard and onions. My wife had Cole Slaw on her first one and Sauerkraut and mustard the second week. We made quite the mess but enjoyed the food. The hot dogs are very tasty and cooked just the way I we like them, a little char but not burnt. We had to cut the dogs into quarters and the rolls held up fine. The chili, while it tastes good is a little bland and my wife would have liked a little more flavor in the Sauerkraut too. The order of fries is large, hot and crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The store is a nostalgic walk into the past with retro fixtures, tables and decorations. It's fun to read the 45's that line the walls while enjoying these dogs. The dogs are a novelty and are good enough to come back for. They have an extensive menu and I'm tempted to try the other offerings but the Two-Foot dogs always call me back.

I chose to get the veggie burger with fries and my boyfriend got the outlaw burger smashed with eggplant fries. The veggie burger was made in house and excellent, but definitely needed two hands and many napkins to eat. It was the perfect amount of spicy. The fries are shoe string and crispy and delicious. They also had fantastic, soft gluten free buns which is rare to find. My boyfriend enjoyed his burger, too. He also loved my fries (typical) and his fries. My boyfriend also got a strawberry milkshake that he said was excellent. I had a strawberry mojito and it was STRONG but good. Definitely made the drink worth the money. The only thing I didn't like on the plate was the pickles. The waitress said they were made in house "bread and butter" style but they kind of just tasted like honey. I'm a pickle lover and these ones did not do it for me. The resturant itself was comfortable (with their own parking lot which is rare in West Hartford) but I didn't love the layout. It kind of reminded me of a church community center with a bunch of tables in a basement and not the best artwork. Compared to other Max locations, this one's decor was a little lack luster. I also did not love that there was a charge to have my fries prepared in a separate gluten free fryer. That being said, this was a solid, higher end burger restaurant with a unique menu and plenty of non-burger options.

It has such a great vibe , welcoming, and perfect whether you're going out with friends or just want a solid meal in a good atmosphere. And I have to mention the waitressing is always on point. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely makes the experience even better. You can tell they care about the customers. Overall, this spot never disappoints. It's an old truck, that has been refurbished, has a cool history and has been in business as a red hot dog truck for over 50 years. Maggie's has hot dogs, kielbasa and chili. They also have drinks, chips and cookies. Maggie's uses Mucke's natural casing dogs, which is definitely not something that most CT places use. Maggie's does not have any specialty hot dogs per se, but they do have their own chili and some other standard toppings to choose from. I ordered a hot dog with chili and mustard. I haven't had a Mucke's in a while. It seemed like it was probably steamed. Good flavor. Good snap. The chili sauce was meaty and tasty. Definitely above average for CT. The mustard was good too. I would definitely recommend Maggie's if you're in the area and want a hot dog or chili to go. 4.5 Stars

Robert "Red" McCormick later rescued and restored it, and it's been serving hot dogs for more than fifty years now. At this point it's basically a local icon for those who know, and can be found over on East River Drive in East Hartford. The menu is simple--hot dogs, kielbasa, chili, drinks, chips, cookies--and that's exactly the right call for a place like this. I had two hot dogs and both were great. Quick service, good flavor, and they were wrapped well enough that I had zero concerns about anything spilling on the way back to the office. Overall, a fun, straightforward lunch stop with good food, and fun character and history. If you appreciate old-school spots that keep things simple, this one's worth a visit.

The wings were bigger in those days at the Ithaca, NY location, and back then they still had ribs that were delicious and fell off the bone. Since moving to NYC in 2005 the only chance I have to experience their wings are when I visit my parents and go to the West Hartford location. This location is pretty small with hardly any parking and only one or two tables in the restaurant. It's more of a take out place. But the garlic parmesan wings are still very tasty. They have many other flavors too. Similar to Buffalo Wild Wings in terms of flavor options. They even have garlic parm and lemon pepper options for the fries too. I got take out today. A 14 wing group pack including fries cost me $29. The wings seem a little smaller than they were a few years ago, but still not bad.
