The eggs were scrambled well enough, I suppose, but they seemed bland. Maybe I should have asked for a little salsa! The coffee was just okay considering they were advertising the Carrabassett brand they used. My wife ordered the avocado scramble, which also came with eggs and home fries, and she added bacon on the side. Unlike ravenous me, she had to take her eggs home. I can't forget to mention the server (Maggie?) who was friendly, chatty and took great care of us. I recommend Vittles even for breakfast, but I will repeat what I said in the other review: I want to get back there for lunch or dinner!

We also recently decided on a rare sit down meal here. We fancied some seafood for a change of pace and rather than driving a dozen or more miles away to frequent our favorite seafood restaurant, we opted to eat locally. And besides, we had tried Lakeshore's clams and scallops when we first moved here and liked them. So one of us ordered the scallop platter and the other clams (full-bellied of course). The servings were slightly smaller than at our favorite place, but also a bit less expensive, so it is a choice whether you would rather take some home for a second meal or save a few dollars in the short term. As we remembered, the food was good, so no complaints. If I push the issue, I have to say the meal didn't quite live up to the other restaurant, but that is why we have fave places, isn't it? It is only logical to occasionally test to see if others are ready to take over top spot! But there have a varied menu. And as a side note, the town of Dexter has implemented a remarkable renewal and improvement project of the neighboring beach and facilities, including building a new covered dining and activity area, which can be reserved or used more spur of the moment as available. There is a fair bit of parking , though very busy with locals and nearby camp visitors, and there are public restrooms just behind the restaurant.

They serve fairly basic fare mostly. I haven't found anything to be memorable, but I have no complaints about their offerings either. Usually we do breakfast with our friend, and I remember once I had a combo meal and was a little surprised to find an up-charge for the pumpkin pancakes and no refill on the iced tea. It probably said so on the menu so I look more carefully now. Once I had a 55+ breakfast, which was a lower cost and was fine. Most recently I went with the Smokehouse Combo so I could have the larger and more tasty smoked sausage links. Our friend really likes their breakfast crepes, but I haven't tried them yet because my wife makes a great crepe and why risk being disappointed? Well, our friend has gone south for the winter, so we won't be back there for quite a while, but I will be glad to return there in the spring.

My husband's club sandwich had too much mayonnaise on it, so he ended up donating some of his mayo to my dry sandwich cause. (I didn't try his sandwich, but since his was toasted, he didn't experience the same dry bread issues). The deli seating area and bathroom was clean, and the staff were friendly and the service was fast. I probably would give this another try someday if we needed to have lunch on the way up again, and I'd get something entirely different to compare.

We discovered this place because we stayed at the hotel the restaurant is located in. We ended up eating here once for dinner and once for breakfast. We had the halibut at the oyster bar next door and the halibut at the oak room... Oak Room was much better. But the biggest differentiator was the service.
