I have stopped by here many times, both eat in and takeout, for breakfast and lunch, and have never had the negative experience other reviewers seem to insist they had. (I wonder how many "worst meals ever" they have reported in reviews. Can every one really be the worst?) A lot of negative reviews seem to be for drive through, which I have never done yet, so I can't relate. Perhaps they need a remedial class in communications when ordering, or maybe every place they go to is the new worst one ever. Anyway, my first job as a teen was fast food so I know what it is like from the other side of the counter. I wish more people reviewed for okay or great experiences, but usually a bad visit or revenge review is what motivates people to write them, not the okay or great visit. On September 20th 2025 I stopped in at the Irving truck stop across the road from the Macdonald's (I'm a trucker) I went over to the outside door it said "open at 05:00" I looked at my watch it was 05:15 both outside doors were locked and they were serving drive thru, an employee came out of the kitchen seen me and gave me the 1 minute sign, 15 minutes later he or anyone else never came to unlock the door, I'm a type 2 diabetic and need morning protein with my meds, if the sign on your doors is wrong well fix it, and if it's correct tell your staff to unlock the doors, so I lost close to 45 minutes of my work day for this inconvenience. Disappointing. Fries were all half empty and not to the standard that I have come to expect from McDonald's. Burgers were alright. It feels really bad to pay for a large fries (already too much money IMHO), and receive an amount that would equate to less than a medium. :( read more

Like most McDonald's, this one doesn't disappoint for being lackluster. The food isn't very good. Sometimes it's hot, most times it's just warm on the cooler side of warm. Ask for no salt on fries and they do come very hot as they are made fresh and not put into the bin to be salted BUT they use the same tool to dispense those fries as they do the salted and you ALWAYS get salt. The tool always has salt on it. I stopped eating here (and every other location) because I ate food from a location and got very sick, lets just say I couldn't leave my bathroom). I tried eating from a completely different location (even in a different state) and the results were the same. I have had Burger King's food from across the road from this location and NOT had those issues. If you order from this place, make sure you check your bags BEFORE leaving as they have most likely messed up the order or even given you another person's order entirely. Save your gut, enjoy better food and just go across the road to BK. At least their drive-thru lines move quicker and they can seem to get your order done more accurately. read more

We stopped at the Newport location. Went to the window to purchase a gift card. Then placed our order. No tape in register, so no receipt. Teller went to find roll of paper. After 6 to 8 minutes, came back with wrong paper. Manager replace with correct paper, but still no receipt. Meanwhile the line grew to 10 or 12. We asked her to open the other register, but she said she didn't have anyone that knew how to run one. 8 to 10 people filling drive thru orders, but no one knew how to help people that were waiting inside? We asked after 15 minutes where our order was. Still no response from manager until I said loudly "can we just get our order of 2 big Mac's, small fry and small soda"?. Finally they shoved a bag at us. We asked for a cup and it was dumped on the counter. We went to find an empty and clean table. There was none. So we went into play area and sat to eat our lunch. This is 40 minutes since we came in. The gentleman, and I am using that term loosely, came into play area and told us to level because play area was closed. We got up, left our food and walked out. "I dont know, I'll have someone fix it" "I made my order based on the special advertised" direct quote "Look sir, I put on my shirt and I come to work and I collect a pay check, I cant do anything about it". Not trained staff when it comes to their own App protocols. Manager did resolve the issue but took forever to end up doing what he needed to. Otherwise yes very solid food, however the biggest draw back is the lack of cleanliness amongst staff. Floors not swept, seats and tables not whiped down. I stopped in here at this Newport, Maine location before heading on to a 3+ hour drive home to Southern Maine. I had my typical expectations for a McDonald's. This isn't my first time to Newport, however it was my first time visiting this McDonald's. I was pleasantly surprised to see how clean and neat the establishment was. Literally spotless. There was plenty of employees working, and orders seemed to be fulfilled quickly. They have the touch screen ordering systems, or you can wait inline at the register to order. I decided to try the touch screen system, this being my first time trying it out. The touch screen ordering system was super easy to use and navigate. There were 3 people standing in line, and I ended up completing my order ahead of all of them. I was able to pay right at the system, got my number, and waited perhaps 3 minutes for my order. The staff was friendly, and quick to serve. Well done! I was very surprised when I got my meal. This was hands down the most freshest, best tasting meal I have ever had from a McDonald's. I know, I know, that sounds so cliche, but I'm for real. I order a Double Quarter Pound Cheeseburger meal. The burger was delicious. A tad bit greasy, but full of flavor. Fresh toppings. French fries were fresh and crispy. Drink was refreshing. I really wish that the McDonald's franchises down here where I live were half as good as the Newport location. If you have ever been to a McDonald's, then you know exactly what you are in for coming to this one. They do not have the updated soda machines that some MickeyD's are now featuring, but they do offer clean bathrooms, a large and comfortable seating area and a friendly staff. The wait took a little longer than normal on a slower visit, but it was nothing compared to the horribleness of the McDonald's on 1st Avenue in the UES of Manhattan. There are two lanes for drive thru ordering, which is always nice to help reduce wait times and keep patience levels from dipping into road rage. They also have a large parking lot which is perfect for parking larger vehicles or enjoying a meal before getting back on the road. read more

Well we just sent our son to pickup an order. He went thru the drive thru and placed an order for 5 people. He paid up all of the food ordered and went to the pickup window, there he picked up multiple bags and headed home with the food. And what to my wondering eyes should appear was none of food I ordered for myself. So back to town he went. My opinion of this McDonald's is not good. I personally don't think they could find their butts with both hands and 3 seeing eye guide dogs. And my turtle ice coffee missing the chocolate. I expect to get what I pay for so 've when I got home from my 20 min. Drive I had the wrong food. Atleast burger king would get my order correct. And if they mess it up you get a whole meal replacement. If you want inside customer service at the Newport McDonalds, don't stop. This facility would prefer to make their money on drive thru customers rather than walk in. I was waiting with about 8 other customers for at least 8 minutes, all the while they are pumping the food out to drive thru. I finally approached the counter and asked ... when will I get my order? the Manager turned and stated...it is in the order it is taken. I replied...my food is paid for and I want my order. One man had been waiting nearly 10 minutes for just his burger, he ordered before me and was still standing their when I left. Sucked. Cash register worker was nice and fast. Food came out quick but the people sucked. They charge for an extra sauce over 1 but another employee overheard someone telling me that and brought me over another one after I finished eating so that didn't help much. Everyone working seemed to be discontent and didn't give off a good vibe won't be going there again for sure. I believe it was the manager that told me it cost more for sauce and she said it with a snappy tone I was in disbelief and have been thinking about it since I said please and always I am kind to everyone so I was taken back by her derogatory tone of voice. Went to this McDonald's for the first and last time last night. It could possibly be the worst McDonald's I've ever been to. It was the supper hour, which I expect to be busy, especially on a Friday night BUT I also expect to see the staff working at a pace that reflects that even if I have to wait. I have never seen fast food workers working at such a leisurely pace, any time of day. And while the cashier was pretty good, 2 of the women putting together orders were like robots. Slow, careful pace and no expression or inflection in their speech. My husband even said a cheerful "thank you" to the one that gave him our food and she didn't say a word or smile. It was busy and with the slow pace we had a very long wait. We were joking in line that they needed chairs in the waiting area. The guy behind me agreed. And there was some difficulty over sauces for a customer in front of us. That was awkward. It was just an overall bad, weird experience. read more

Was so upset at this mcd's.. It was at night and they were about 30 mins to closing, the inside was closed but the drive through was still open.. We went up to the drive through we had a full car of people coming back from a wedding. I was DD.. We ordered, paid.. Upon getting food some were missing fries or the wrong size of fries.. Already paid for.. Couldn't go into building because it was locked so we went back through drive through, if they were out of fries we just wanted the money back for them or the fries we ordered.. However we were confronted with the most rudest manager ever!! When I told the intercom what had happened the young man had us drive up where the manager was waiting in the window.. The manager proceeded to tell us that she was not giving out free food, I tried to tell her that was NOT what we were looking for just to complete the order or refund the money already paid, she yelled at us again she was not giving out free food, slammed the window shut and locked it.. Not sure when asking to receive what we had paid for became asking for free food or why she thought that was what we were looking for.
