I always try to grab a cheeseburger the week before Good Friday. There are so many choices to find a cheeseburger in San Francisco. There is the char-grilled cheeseburger, Grass Fed burgers,Wagyu burgers, Cali Burger, and the Smash burger (Brings a different meaning to I wanna smash). I try not to have a fast food cheeseburger the week before Good Friday because I will end up at McDonald's on Good Friday for something other than a cheeseburger, fried chicken burger, or Mc Rib sandwich. The Filet-O-Fish at McDonald's was invented in 1962 because of Good Friday. Since I won't have meat next Friday I decided to go across the street from the Ferry Building next to the pickleball courts to Burger Littles and give it a whirl the week before Good Friday. On a March Madness stroll past the Tulip Sculpture at 4 Embarcadero Center I landed at Burger Littles in SF. I ordered the double cheese smash burger. Although I like a good fresh bun this is the few burgers I had where the beef was twice as big as the bun. The cheeseburger was cheesy like some in SF. The beef patties were tasty along with the fresh onions and pickles. I paired it with well seasoned fries which were crispy and had good texture and flavor. I only wish they had onion rings. I won't start crowning this place the new burger king( who says there are no kings ?) in the city but it's one of my new favorite cheese smash burgers in SF. Hats off to Burger Little . Overall it was a happy meal ( not the McDonald's version). No meat for Good Friday so for the first Friday in April meat I will" ditch"and find an alternative "dish" and make a temporary "switch" like going to Mc Donald's to get tartar sauce and cheese on a "Filet -O- Fish" I took a big bite of the cheeseburger and not a little bite like when the CEO Mc Donald's bit the "Big Arch" this place is called Burger Little but the smash cheeseburgers are large and pair it with tasty seasoned fries potatoes in "high-starch" and to stop eating chicken, pork , and beef can be "harsh" the meat madness stops at the end of the month of "March " read more

Dropped by for lunch ~11:50 am on a Wednesday. With only one person waiting for their order, took ~5 minutes to get my order in. What I got: - Garlic Fries ~ fried fresh and tossed into a large mixing bowl with salt, pepper and fresh garlic, this was impressive to watch being made. However, the fries were pretty pale and greasy. Ended up with a large pool of oil under, that I had to transfer the fries to the lid of the container to remove excess oil. Unfortunately, because they were under fried, all the fries lacked crisp. - Fancy Burger w/ Double patty ~ Potato bun was nice and soft. Pickles were large and thinly sliced! Patties were dry and not as smashed to give it the signature smashed burger crisp as I thought. Somewhat bland. Caramelized onions carried the burger as they tasted like onion rings -- sweet yet savory. All in all, this place was disappointing. Didn't really satisfy my burger cravings. Because of the greasy floppy fries, I was wondering if the burger was also greasy, playing "is this grease or tomato juice" for my burger. Perhaps I went on an off day. Starving and frustrated after an unexpectedly tense work interaction, I took myself outside for a stroll and lunch and ended up at Burger Littles's doorstep. The restaurant and surrounding tables were empty as it was close to 2 p.m. on a Tuesday. After eyeing the menu, I decided to try the fancy grilled cheese and garlic fries. Service was pleasant, fast and efficient. Before long, I had my generously portioned serving of fries and grilled sammie in hand. I tucked into the very garlicky fries and was immediately disappointed by their greasiness and lack of crispness, despite requesting them "extra crispy." Next, I bit into the sandwich, which included at least four slices of cheese, grilled onions and raw tomatoes on a toasted burger bun. The bread was the best part of the sandwich. I would have preferred the tomatoes cooked and, though grilled on the top, bottom and sides, the inside of the sandwich was barely hot. The ingredients had potential and, with a bit more care, the sandwich could have been so much better. All in all, I considered this lunch a waste of my appetite and money. read more

I got so tired of burgers getting bigger vertically and harder to bite. Then came the smash burger trend where burgers got bigger horizontally, so you just nibble at the sides like a meat frisbee. Very simple menu, but good quality food. Double Cheeseburger: Pretty much everything that a smash burger should be. Thin, crispy, hanging off the edges. I saw them put it on the grill, pre-smashed in raw patty form. They must be very careful, since any thinner and it might fall apart. Cheese adds a great amount of indulgence. Double Fancy Burger: Apparently what makes it fancy is grilled onions and tomatoes. The grilled onions seemed only partially grilled, since they were mushy and moist. The tomato slices also felt kinda mushy and cold. Overall, the fancy felt like a downgrade. Meat & Potato: This was hot mess, a hot delicious mess! It's pieces of a burger, pieces of cheese, lots of onions, sauce and fries all tossed together. The toss is crucial, so it's evenly distributed instead of everything on top and fries on the bottom. With a name like Burger Littles, I was imaging slider-size portions. I ordered a Fancy Single Burger and Classic Fries, totaling $16.29. It was a straight-forward burger only having a thin patty with crispy edges, a slice of melted American cheese, raw onion, a few pickles and mustard...far from what one would describe as "fancy" as that's a basic cheeseburger IMO. I think they didn't have my order right. Fries were underwhelming, barely seasoned and not crispy. Despite this so-so first experience, I may return to give them another try. Came here because we were exploring burger places and we walked past this one before. There was only one chef working on a Sunday but it wasn't busy, only 1 party ahead of us waiting. The chef was very meticulous about cleaning the grill which is nice. I guess it was my first time have s smash burger like this. The meat was very flat with crispy edges. I think I personally prefer the regular type of burger so that I get a better mouthful with a meatier taste. I got the regular hamburger which came with mustard, raw onions, and pickles. I also got the garlic fries which were very fresh. It did end up being very oily though so I couldn't finish it all. I think I kinda got there at the wrong time because the staff seemed to be leaving for the day and left the cook all alone. But one of the guys took my order before he split. I love the concept of smash burgers because when done right the burgers are very flavorful and has a nice crisp texture to it. What I got here was a paper thin patty that could have given me a paper cut. Not even sure I even got an 1/8 pounder so $9 might have been a steep price to pay. The shoe string fries were cooked nice and crunchy which is all I can say about the place. I finally got the chance to have lunch yesterday at this Burger Littles located at 4 Embarcadero Center. I ordered the Fancy Burger Double Patty and a Diet Pepsi. I was so surprised that my burger was not "little" but actually of a decent size. My burger was so juicy and delicious! If you're looking for juicy seasoned paddies, perfectly melted cheese, warm buns with toasted edges, and a balanced combination of toppings and condiments, Burger Littles is the food truck you want to go to. The food truck is located at Sparked Social, in Mission Bay in San Francisco. It's a nice closed off area primarily used for a variety of social gatherings. Street parking can be a little tough at lunch and dinner time, but there are large lots for UCSF and Kaiser nearby that are easily walkable especially during off peak hours. Inside Sparked, there is plenty of tables and seating in common areas and in front of some specific food trucks. It's never hard to find somewhere to sit and enjoy your food with company. In terms of service, the people working the truck have always been fast and friendly. They don't rush people looking at the menu, and are always happy to answer questions. I talked about the burger already, but I also found their fries to be really good. I do not like a soft french fry, so I was super happy when I got a whole plate of fries that were toasty and slightly crunchy on the edges. The seasoning was good too. Decent assortment of drinks to go along with everything. My recommendation for burger lovers is to spring for the "fancy" burger, which includes tomatoes, pickles, and grilled onions in addition to some less basic condiments. I am a documented hater of onions on burgers, but that just goes to show how good this burger is - Burger Littles is the only place I'll get onions on my burger. It's that good. read more
