TLDR: It's no gourmet burger, but it definitely gets the job done. It's made fresh, open late, and optimally located at the bottom of North Beach. This no frills shop has everything from burgers to fries to shakes, as well as indoor and outdoor seating. ------ FOOD: 1. FRIES (4.5/5) Surprisingly good fries! They give you a large portion, most have a nice crisp, and they're neither dry nor oily. 2. THE DRESSED JACK (4/5) Just your classic burger with cheese and veggies. I found myself needing to add ketchup to mine to add some flavor a bit more sauce. While I enjoyed the burger and could see them making it fresh in the back, I wish the patty were slightly more flavorful, maybe with more salt, pepper, or other seasonings? Still, for the price and convenience, this is a great option if you're craving a burger in North Beach. ------ OTHER: * Indoor table and counter seating, as well as some outdoor seats too * Order at the cashier and wait for your burger inside * If you want to eat your burger somewhere else, there's lots of seating in the nearby Transamerica park
I saw this place while on a walk in the neighborhood and made mental note to stop by for lunch the next day, which was a Sunday. I did just that. I ordered a double cheeseburger with mustard, pickle and onion, because that's the way I like it. I decided to let them add lettuce and tomato. That was a nice change. The burger here was really good! It's very tall if you get a double, so get ready. I cut mine in half to make it more manageable. My dining companion ordered some fries and let me have a few of them. They were delicious with seasoned salt included. This is a great burger stand with no frills that does one thing really well. Well, I guess two things with the fries. If you have the room, try a shake too. I did not and wish I had.
Such a delicious burger. Patty is excellent, fries are tasty, and ambience is great. Not a bad choice for lunch or dinner.
DoorDash, cheesy jack extra patty. You need to be specific with the condiments because all I received was a meat patty meat fest. Cheese meat, nothing else. Because of these there was a lack of flavor. Didn't detect salt and pepper either. The meat however was high quality and thick. Fries - meh. Milkshake - legit. Like melted buttery ice cream being squirted into your mouth legit. There are probably better DoorDash options at 12am, I'd skip this place.
Wow, The burgers at this small hole in the wall are great and the prices are unbeatable. Service was friendly and quick. The Chocolate milkshake was excellent.
Came here to try their burgers, got the Wedding Ring burger. The burger was great, the onion ring in the burger is crispy, but they don't offer onion rings as side. The service was good, the place looks clean and neat but smells to much chemicals, I even tasted in my mouth.
Tried Columbus burgers for the first time. Went around 1pm and there was some people inside, but definitely not packed. I ordered a dressed back which was like a regular burger with tomato lettuce onion and etc. I got my order to go but wish I had the chance to eat inside. The atmosphere is pretty chill. The burger didn't stand out to me. Aside from being relatively clean, the staff were nice.
Yeah, a $10 burger in SF is a hella good deal. Still, you get what you pay for -- a burger that hits the mark after a drunken night out but doesn't stand on its own against sober lips. This little joint has a straightforward menu and operates until 11pm on weekdays and 2am on weekends (a true rarity in SF!). That being said, the pictures on the menu don't match at all with what you receive after ordering, which is certainly a red flag for any burger enthusiast. The burger had a good ratio of toppings-to-sauce and tasted great. The patty was a bit small, but can't complain too much when the check was under $30 for two people. The decor is cute with US license plates adorning the walls, though most of the seating is cheap, backless metal stools (they are extremely uncomfortable to sit in for more than 5 minutes). Would I come back again? After a night of drinking in the area, for sure. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you're tightening the belt on your wallet -- but if those aren't relevant to you, I'd recommending trying another burger spot (Uncle Boy's comes to mind if you're interested!)
O M G. This was the hole in the wall burger spot I didn't know I needed. I was craving a burger and this place looked like a hit...they did not steer me wrong! Whatever the sauce is they use was an expected flavor explosion. I was expecting something like a thousand island sauce, but it ended up being like a garlic aioli. It was sooo good with the burger. And the fries...the fries were so crispy, seasoned, and delicious. The only thing I didn't love was the bathroom was not the cleanest. I'd definitely go again, I'd just used the restroom first. Lol
Local- well lite hole in the wall. It's really good ventilation so you don't smell the smoke and armors - which can be a factor when attracting pedestrians. Service was good. Got in and ordered quickly. The burger was good. I got the Piggy Jack with bacon. The size was large. It maintains its shape when consuming. Not much juice leak. The fries were decent but a little bit too much salt and seasoning
Amazing place to get burgers and they are open so late which is perfect after a night out in North Beach. I got a random burger off the menu with the most toppings and it was so bomb. The fries are ordered separately and they are so hot and crispy! We escaped Kel's because it was so stuffy in there and thankfully found Columbus Burgers. Thank you for saving us
This is like a burger from a public elementary school. This is ridiculously subpar food. There's really not much I can say besides this isn't worth paying for. You're better off just going to McDonald's or something. It's that bad. And the crinkle fries? I guess they were OK but these items tell me that these people purchased the absolute cheapest ingredients possible and take zero pride and its preparation.
After a night of drinking and smoking cigars a full Burger was in order. Columbus Burger hit the spot with warm service and Hospitality as soon as we entered the room. I thoroughly enjoyed that the menu is limited but good. All of the ground beef is made fresh. I ordered the dress Burger and I was surprised to see he brought out fresh hamburger meat to make a Smashburger. I had onion rings on my burger and it had a homemade taste without being over pretentious. I love the crinkle cut fries that were seasoned just right this place is simple and to the point burger fries and milkshakes. The Ambiance is really casual. You can eat there or take the food to go. I definitely would come back here next time I'm in the city.

The end of a glorious Friday night in San Francisco, we found this burger spot at 12:45 AM! The cheeseburgers and seasoned crinkle-cut fries were delicious AF. Loaded with fresh standard toppings and a secret sauce on soft seeded buns, they were delicious with every bite. Second only to The Bay's favorite, Giant Burgers. Truth! read more
There aren't many burger spots that I would continuously come back to, but Columbus burger is definitely on the top of my list! I have to spread out my orders from here so I can try to keep in shape but their burgers are just so damn good! And fries are also well seasoned every time read more
This is going to be a no frills review just like this place. A standard burger from a standard burger place. Sometimes this is what you need in your life. You know what to expect and you get exactly that. Is it the best burger you will ever have? No. It's also not going to be the most expensive. What it will be is tasty, basic and it will fulfill a craving and it won't disappoint you. Considering the area this place is in, you got a lot of interesting options in the vicinity. But if you don't want it to be complicated and a standard burger is what you need, don't think twice. Columbus burger will get the job done. Predictable. Delicious. Satisfied. (3.9 Stars) read more

11/23/2023 Thanksgiving Day Hubby didn't want any of our dim sum from Chinatown so we stopped here on our way back to the hotel. The one male employee was friendly and there was one other customer in the place. It was a small and cozy place with some bar stool seating and a couple of tables. Burger was cooked perfectly on a sesame bun. The french fries were cooked and seasoned well. We devoured those easily. read more

The hamburger patty is good but the buns are terrible, completely shattered when eating it. This my third time eating here and I just thought it was a one time issue with the buns being shattered or breaking apart when eating. This will be my last time eating here The buns are too big for the hamburger patty as well. I tried to give them a feedback but no manager on site. And the cook didn't understand my feedback. I don't think he understood English well. read more

Looking for a burger, just a good ol' fashioned burger? Here's the spot! This place is non-descrip, simple and will take care of your burger crave when it arises. The burger is solid, though the only negative thing is that the bun tends to disintegrate pretty quickly. Other than that, it's a really good burger! Fries are solid as well. Service isn't a thing, but the guys working there are friendly... pricing wise, this place is very reasonable for FiDi. Good spot for a quick meal! read more

A new counter service burger joint in the old Yan's Kitchen space. A very limited focused menu yielding satisfying results. Though it did feel a bit pricey to pay $24 (including tax) for a burger, fries and milkshake. The Piggy Jack: Kinda what you'd hope from a nondescript casual burger joint open all day and late into the night. Hearty beef patty, fatty gooey cheese, crispy bacon with all the richness offset by tangy pickles and a flavorful creamy sauce. Only nitpicky point would be that the tomatoes were a bit firm and not that juicy. Fries: Thick fries, fried crispy to order, with a distinctive seasoning. Kinda tasted like Old Bay Seasoning to me, at least the celery salt flavor was strong. Chocolate Shake: I was going to go with the mango shake at first, but the guy directed me to the fridge for that. I asked if it had ice cream in it and he said no, so I switched to a chocolate shake which did. The mango "shake" kinda looked like a mango lassi, which has a time and a place, but is not what I crave with the burger. The chocolate shake, however, was just perfect. The right thickness level where it was quite thick but still could be sucked through a straw without a popping a blood vessel. Reminded me a lot of the McDonald's chocolate shake in texture, but tasted better. read more

Good think juicy burger and crinkle fries. The cheesy jack is nothing fancy just a good old school type burger. Nice patty to bun ratio with melted cheese. Would be a level up if the buns would get a bit more toasted and if the place / restrooms were cleaner. read more
