We came in to try their Korean spicy and sweet burgers. The burger tastiest good but not worth the value. Based on their website picture the burger was larger with whole onion rings and bacon slices vs. reality was a smaller beef patty with crunch onion rings and bacon. I took the aioli mayonnaise out as my burger has excess. After the burger tastes good and was not spicy. We also ordered the Korean chicken bites. I liked those more. Those were a little spicy probably because of the pepper. They taste good with the Korean spicy and sweet sauce. We also got a drink it's all you can drink. The cucumber lime aid had too much sugar for me. It tastes too sweet. However I combined it with their black iced tea and it was good tasting for me. Not too sugary. Service was okay. I believe they were training staff on register. The food took about 10 minutes to come out. The ambiance there is plenty of booth seating. I had to clean our seat as it had not been cleaned. I don't get the popularity of this chain. I guess I'm not a burger person but even the veggie burger I had a couple of months ago wasn't very good (doughy), so this time I thought I'd try the Portobello. I didn't realize that it had a hamburger patty in it - I had just glanced quickly up at the menu when I was ordering his and saw 'Portobello' and thought it would be a large meaty portobello button instead of burger. I'm not a vegetarian I just don't like hamburger. So surprise! there was a little piece of mushroom on top of a thin, gray, overcooked hamburger patty. Not a good burger at all, IMHO. The dog got a lot of it. My husband likes a burger occasionally and our favorite restaurant is closed for remodeling so I imagine we'll be back, so I'll study the menu a little more carefully. I am just done with this location! The management is always rude and dismissive. Ordered a Cobb salad, and the size is smaller now. But worse is how gross the lettuce is! Half the bowl had bad lettuce that I kept picking out. And when I asked for ranch to go with my chicken nuggets (because I didn't get it), the manager said I get one and reluctantly handed one to me. How about YOU forgot to pack it! I'm not asking for an extra one! And even if I was, are you too cheap to give one more? Habit is pricey, so at least make the food good and offer customer service. I really love the food at the habit. I always get the Ahi burger. Well done no teriyaki sauce on a wheat bun. It tastes so good. It sort of bothers me though that you can say no teriyaki but you can't say extra tartar sauce they charge me $.80 extra for it. I thought that stunk we got the 50-50 of fries and onion rings, but then they only gave me three onion rings so I don't know it seems sort of like a rip off. I'm just not sure about the service there. The ambience is just typical the habit I do wish they would clean the tables better. We order from Habit a bit more than we should, primarily because of the deals on the app, so it's one of our "cheap" options when it comes to dinner for 4. Ordering from the app is super simple, and there's something that we all like. I typically go with the char burger with cheese and a side of onion rings with their version of honey mustard and BBQ sauce. The husband likes to try their various sandwiches, and our son likes their cheese burger with bacon. The daughter isn't too into burgers, so she'd get their chicken instead. Once a while we'd get their boxes with several burgers and sides. I've tried their portobello mushroom burger and their teriyaki burger, and those were a bit disappointing due to the ratio. They'd have season items too, such as peppermint milkshake and other fun flavors! YUM! I also tried their fried avocado, and well... that was pretty interesting. The downside is that we would mostly do takeout and the bottom bun would be soggy. If I could give zero starts I would. I came here on my lunch break from nursing clinicals and there was an extremely rude, short and wide hispanic man racially profiling my friend and I. The reason I believe that The Habit Burger Grill is so successful with over forty locations in the nine counties that make up the Bay Area alone, is the overall freshness of the ingredients that make up their burgers which contributes to the total quality of all the items on their menu. Can you believe that The Habit Burger Grill was founded all the way back in 1969 as a small family owned business located in Goleta, California, which is a small town adjacent to Santa Barbara. By the 1990's they were just growing exponentially in the Southern California region, and that growth spread to Northern California by the early 2000's. With this Walnut Creek location, they introduced many Bay Area residents to their first fast casual freshly-charred hamburger concept. So with a recent shopping trip to the nearby Broadway Plaza on a weekend afternoon, and a coupon emailed to us, thanks to us signing up for a complimentary Charburger with Cheese for a week to enjoy for your birthday, we knew where we wanted to enjoy a light lunch. Parking at this location of The Habit Burger Grill is super accessible thanks to them having their own parking lot that is accessible via two entrances on South California Boulevard and Botelho Drive. Since this location is one of their older locations their dining room is both smaller and darker than the traditional Habit locations that you normally would see. Since we came to order their Charburger with Cheese which is topped with caramelized onions, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, pickles, mayo, and cheese served on a toasted bun. Since there were three in our party, we also opted to order their Santa Barbara Char, which were two freshly chargrilled beef patties topped with avocado, caramelized onions, American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo served on two slices of grilled sourdough bread. To pair with our meal, we also ordered a side of their Onion Rings. With our coupon that I had on my smartphone scanned, our total bill was $14.07 including tax, which was very reasonable considering how much food the three of us received this afternoon. Since everything is grilled and made fresh to order, it does take more than a few minutes for your buzzer to be buzzed and your order to be picked up. While we waited we sipped on some water which anyone can grab at their open soda stations. And in no time our meal was ready for pickup thanks to their friendly and hardworking staff, as we made sure that we also received a side of complimentary ranch dressing to enjoy with our burgers and onion rings. Everything was fresh and warm as expected, as this was the first time that I tried their signature Santa Barbara Char which is considered a special limited time menu item, but is on their menu more often times than not, and I found it light and refreshing thanks to the abundance of freshly sliced avocados and the buttery flavor of the grilled sourdough bread. My dining companions loved their Charburger, of which we requested to be sliced in half as it was as always a nicely grilled cheeseburger, when combined with the accompanying fresh vegetables only added to the overall juiciness of the hamburger. When everything is enjoyed with their freshly deep fried onion rings, any visitor to the Habit is in for an enjoyable meal, one that they will order again and again upon multiple visits. Habit Burger has really gone downhill since the Yum brands acquisition. What used to my go to lunch spot in Walnut Creek is now a nickel and diming dump. I would like to file a complaint against a rude, unprofessional, and hostile employee at Habit Burger at the address 1255 S California Blvd Walnut Creek, CA 94596 I ordered 5 burgers, 4 fries/onion rings, and 4 drinks, some of the burgers were char and other burgers were double char. When I picked up my order, I asked the employee which burgers are char and which are double char. He pointed to each one to count them, saying one, two, three, four, five. I asked him the same question again for a second time, saying "Which burgers are char and which are double char?" He counted them again, aggressively saying one, two, three, four, five. I asked him the same question again for a third time, saying "Which burgers are char and which are double char?" He counted them again, aggressively saying one, two, three, four, five. I told him "You haven't told me which are char and which are double char". He yelled at me saying "I DON'T WANT TO WORK WITH YOU" and turned his back and walked away. The English language is not an excuse, it seemed like he speaks English well to understand my question. My question was very clear as there were no marks to differentiate the char burgers and double char burgers. That employee's rude and hostile attitude was not acceptable. I carried on and ate my meal without raising a fuss or complaining to the manager about that employee's unprofessional, rude, and hostile attitude. Keeping in mind to report it to the upper management online. That employee seemed uneducated, and comes from an environment were people are hostile to each other. His difficult ability to understand questions along with obnoxious and hostile treatment are repulsing customers away and ruin the day of a person who is paying to eat at that Habit branch. He is distorting the image of Habit restaurant. I strongly encourage the management to fire that hostile employee and be more careful when hiring employees and wisely paying attention to their intelligence, ability to understand questions, and most importantly politeness. We do miss, though, their tri-tip steak sandwich, wishing it would return to their otherwise savory menu! If you have a good reference point for tasty fast food chicken sandwiches (aka chick fil a or that delicious Popeyes one) then this version is 10000% skippable.
