One kid ordered a BBQ chicken wrap without the BBQ sauce or tomatoes and got fries for the side, my wife and other kid split a half pepperoni and half cheese pizza, and I got a Caesar chicken wrap with sour cream cheddar cheese tater tots for my side. We also got mozzarella sticks and wings with a sweet and sassy BBQ sauce. The mozzarella sticks were Italian breaded, which I like. They tasted good, but $9.50 for seven sticks that are on the smaller side is a bit much. The wings, however, were great. Decent size and you get 10 of them for $12. The older kid that didn't want BBQ sauce in his wrap ended up enjoying two of the wings, which has a subtle kick to the sauce. We'd get these again. The pizza had a little too much sauce, but it wasn't hard for my wife to scrape off some of it. She and the younger kid both like the pizza, which is good because the younger one can be quite picky at times. Both the older kid and I enjoyed our wraps. I thought mine in particular had a good amount of really crunchy chicken. He liked his fries even though I thought the one I tried was a little bland. I appreciate that the tots seemed homemade, but I really didn't taste the cheddar or the chive, so I probably wouldn't get those again for the $5 up charge.

The coleslaw was a commercial average fine diced creamy style. The frys were the average frozen crinkle lightly seasoned. The chicken was not the greasy fried style but more of a beer battered fish style seasoned mildly. The children was not moist and juicy like some places but more dry like it was made in advance and sitting around like the food fried chicken that was made a couple hours earlier Walmart style. I ate it a couple hours after I picked it up and to be fair but it was still crunchy and not greasy at all like left over fried chicken. The chicken here is really interesting because it's marinated in pickle brine. You can definitely taste the brine, and it adds something you didn't even realize was missing. My wife used to order the same thing, but now she tries something different each time because she knows she can share my strips. Everything she has tried has been good. Also worth mentioning: they have really good ranch dressing. I was surprised when I looked up Crafty Cow on Yelp and saw that it had less than four stars. Looking at some of the older reviews, I'm guessing it may have had a bit of a rocky start. But based on our experiences, Crafty Cow has been consistently great, and we'll definitely keep coming back.

Our order consisted of two 16" pizzas, one with just cheese and the other half pepperoni, half sausage. The pizzas tasted fine. Neither remarkable or unremarkable. They use a ton of cheese, which I appreciate, though as you can see in the pictures I posted, the sausage and pepperoni may have been a tad skimped on. The crust was cracker like and the outer edges of it got nice and crispy, which is a big plus for me. As you can also see in the pictures, the pizzas were sloppy. The half pepperoni, half sausage ended up having sausage on only a 1/4 of it and the pepperoni was only on the outsides. In addition, the cheese on both pizzas stuck to the crappy paper they used below the crust, leaving paper stuck to the cheese on every piece we took out of the boxes. The meat was easy to adjust by sliding it around, but the paper was annoying and not worth the hassle again.

The bottom line is that this is not a true Chicago style hot dog and if that's what you than there is better places around town like that P place. How you fail at a copy dog when you can actually get a real one in town to see, touch and taste is beyond me when your restaurant has Chicago right in the name.

I figured I was going to have a fish fry somewhere since it was a Friday in Wisconsin, so the pie, coupled with the fact I had never been to Nite Owls, led me to choose them that evening. I ordered a four piece cod fish fry with waffle fries, the white cheddar cheese curds, and a piece of key lime pie. There were very few pictures of food from Nite Owls online, so the fish fry and cheese curds were essentially ordered blindly. The description of the curds said they were white cheddar and lightly breaded. My guess was that meant they had the cornmeal-like kind of breading that white curds usually come with, which I'm not a fan of. I took a chance and ordered them anyway. Unfortunately, my guess was proven right. The curds were greasy on the bottom and not crispy/crunchy, which is typical for that kind of breading on cheese curds. Disappointing, but sadly not the most disappointing part of my meal. The waffle fries were good. Hard to screw up taking them out of a bag and frying them. They were seasoned, not plain, which was good. It's rare when I order a fish fry and don't like the fish. The fish from Nite Owls can be added to that short list. The breading was thick, somehow a little mushy inside, and I didn't care for the flavor at all. I tried to pick it off the fish and it did come off fairly easily, but the flavor of the breading had seeped into the cod and left me not wanting to eat much of that either. Ultimately I finished two of the four pieces without the breading and ended up throwing the other two away. The picture of the pie made it look like it was whipped throughout instead of pie filling with a whipped layer on top. It certainly had the flavor of key lime, but missed out on the substance without the pie filling layer. The gentleman working behind the bar was pleasant and helpful and my bill was reasonable for the amount of food I received. I hate giving them a bad review because the service doesn't deserve one, but the food was lacking in my opinion. If the fish had been tolerable enough to eat all four pieces, this would be a different story.
