Sorry to say, the great start is beginning to run out of momentum. This is not a 1/2 lb mushroom and swiss burger.

Friendly staff. Nice crowd to hear live music. We didn't eat here- just met a large group. Bartenders were attentive and drinks flowed! Was so happy to hear a band- not often that we are able to enjoy live music.

Who doesn't love a Friday night fish fry? Schmidty's Bar and Grill serves up one heck of a good fish fry. First of all this place has tons of seating and at 5:30 pm we were seated immediately (unusual on a Friday night at that time!). There are 2 dining areas. One is more quiet, family oriented, with tables and booths and air conditioning while the other side has high tops, long tables and a patio area with a wall of garage doors separating the inside from the patio. In the summer these garage doors and almost always open (no air conditioning on this side). The patio side also has live music on the weekends, pool tables and video games. So it is a much more lively side. It seems to be the gathering place for the after work crowd and where friends hang out. For starters we ordered New England clam chowder which was creamy and chock full of chunky potato pieces and clams. The clams were tender- not rubbery and a hint of sweetness. The only thing that would have made this chowder better would be to mix in some Carrots and celery but that's just my personal opinion. Our fish fry's were both excellent. The menu stated that the perch dinner came with 2 large pieces. In fact my husband actually received 3 large pieces. The breading was proportionate and did not overwhelm the fish- which was delicate and flaky. The beer batter was light and crispy just the way it should be. I ordered the Italian breaded cod and it was delicious. The breading has a mixture of Italian herbs which was a nice change from the usual beer batter yet the breading still provided a slight crunch. The French fries were perfect- they had a snap when you bit into them yet were satisfyingly soft and tender on the inside. Our waitress was excellent. Our food was brought to us piping hot so she was definitely on top of things and picking up her orders right away- nothing sat under the warming lights :) she was also very pleasant and professional and despite handling quite a few tables at once, she was attentive and quick with our drink reorders. I highly recommend Schmidty's -whether your looking for a nice, quiet, casual place for the family or a place to hang out and let loose with friends after a long week- Schmidty's has you covered.

I've given this place multiple chances. Every time is worse than the last. Went tonight to watch the US soccer game and proceeded to watch the bartender say she was too busy to change the channel on the TV. "Do you see how busy we are?" So rude. They had a very limited menu due to lack of staff. We ordered a quesadilla, burger and wings and sat for over an hour. Cocktails were disgusting. They had two people helping with bingo instead of helping in the kitchen, which is what they really needed. I will not be back. The pic is the guac we got. Gross.

    Cougar Juice. Sounds Nefarious!!

Seemed like a chill place. Had some good 80's-90's tunes on. Bartender was handing out free Pina Coladas for samplers. They got themselves a new frosty machine to make them. We all said YES!! They proceeded to play the Pina Colada song to set the mood. I am not in to Yoga, I am in to champagne. :P Seems like they specialize in barbecue food fare. I did not eat. I had a beer and sip of Pina (on the bike). Seems like a fun place with friendly service and a band stage. Outdoor seating. Car show days. Bike days. Activities to attract customers. Check out ol' Schimdty's and have some fun!

Excellent pizza and fun atmosphere. Plenty of parking, good choice of beer, and just what I enjoy in a nostalgic Wisconsin tavern.

We ordered the giant pretzel, potato skins and Reuben rolls. All very good. The Reuben rolls were really yummy. My daughter had a sandwich, I think it was a BLT. Her boyfriend had wings and fries. My other daughter had French onion soup; it was delicious. My husband had the French dip. I took a bite and was wishing I could take a few more bites. Someone had the Gyro flatbread. I think of all the things ordered that day, the gyro flatbread was the only miss. Super fun place to catch a game or catch up with friends or family.

While we could have waited in the car, we elected to outside. Service and ambience were on par. My biggest problem and main reason for the 3 stars is the complete sham mockery of the vegetable side. Beautifully cooked rotisserie chicken, delicious fries. The mixed vegetable side is the worst attempt at vegetables I've ever seen. Think vegetables you get in an institution, only 10x worse. My recommendation would be to invest some energy in improving side. I can come up with any number of vegetables that would turn this into a knockout dish. Go and enjoy the food. Just stay away from the veg.

Don't let that throw you off--it's super easy to find and the parking lot is a huge plus (no circling like downtown). We stopped in for their Derby party and it was a blast. Fun games, great energy, and an overall lively atmosphere that made it feel like an event, not just a night out. Food-wise, we kept it classic: cheese curds and the lobster dip--both were really good. The curds hit that perfect crispy/cheesy balance, and the lobster dip felt a little elevated but still totally shareable and worth it. I'd definitely go back again, but next time I'd probably pick a less busy time so we can relax a bit more and try more of the menu. The atmosphere was great during the event, but it'd be nice to experience it on a more laid-back visit too.

When I told the waiter the food was bad he said it's late and they don't care. Upon leaving, the host asked if he could make it up to me. I declined. I wanted a good dinner not a chance to eat another bad dinner again. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

The staff was very friendly as I had a baby stroller with me and showed me the ramp to take to the dining area versus the stairs to the main dining area. The place is ADA complaint from what I saw. There is no shortage of televisions and sports! They even had a printed diagram on every table noting which tvs had what games playing. We didn't come for sports, but I could tell those gathered around the large main bar were. They have a great food selection and lots of beer on tap! I went with a burger and soup. They have several soups always ready plus a rotating daily soup. We enjoyed bloody Mary's which were good, they do charge for a chaser...which come on we're in WI! The food was good and service was great as we had a little one with us and patience was key. They didn't rush us either, as we dined and chatted for a few hours. I would return as there were a few other sandwiches on their menu that sounded delicious! It appears they have a private room available for rent as well. Note for mothers; there is a changing table for children in the women's bathroom.

The first thing that put us off was the seating. The restaurant wasn't busy, as it was around 4 pm, and there was plenty of seating. I am temporarily and obviously handicapped, yet the host took us way to the back of the restaurant, up some stairs, and to an elevated booth - why, when seating was available at the front and others were seated there? Our booth's table hadn't been cleaned and the banquette on my husband's side had crumbs all over and a glop of wet ketchup. Our sodas came very promptly, and we ordered and it took perhaps 15 minutes for our food. My husband did like his burger, and it was cooked to order. The French fries, though, were dry and not hot, just barely warm. He also got a cup of coleslaw, which he took home. I had a house side salad, which was good, accompanied by a bowl of soup. The soup was tepid at best and had a skin already formed on the surface; it was also the wrong flavor. I had ordered chicken tortilla and got clam chowder. I asked for the right soup, and for it to be hot; after waiting for 7 minutes, it was delivered, but I once again received clam chowder! I like clam chowder, and as I didn't see the server, I just ate it, and it was good - and hot. But still. What struck us as being very unprofessional was a cluster of between 5 and 7 servers, all hanging around a table playing with their phones and talking and laughing loudly amongst themselves. That just didn't leave a good impression with us. And the coleslaw my husband took home? He decided to eat it after having it in the fridge at home a couple hours, and it had a rancid, sour, spoiled taste. Not going back to BJ's, for sure!!
