Recently went with some friends for music bingo on a Thursday night. Nice spot to meet up-lots of tables and huge menu. Service was great! Buffalo chicken wrap was ok. The chicken wasn't cut which was odd and hard to eat. Cheese on mushroom Swiss burger should have been melted, but was still good. Would go back and try other items and see some live music! Who doesn't love a Friday night fish fry? Schmidty's Bar and Grill serves up one heck of a good fish fry. First of all this place has tons of seating and at 5:30 pm we were seated immediately (unusual on a Friday night at that time!). There are 2 dining areas. One is more quiet, family oriented, with tables and booths and air conditioning while the other side has high tops, long tables and a patio area with a wall of garage doors separating the inside from the patio. In the summer these garage doors and almost always open (no air conditioning on this side). The patio side also has live music on the weekends, pool tables and video games. So it is a much more lively side. It seems to be the gathering place for the after work crowd and where friends hang out. For starters we ordered New England clam chowder which was creamy and chock full of chunky potato pieces and clams. The clams were tender- not rubbery and a hint of sweetness. The only thing that would have made this chowder better would be to mix in some Carrots and celery but that's just my personal opinion. Our fish fry's were both excellent. The menu stated that the perch dinner came with 2 large pieces. In fact my husband actually received 3 large pieces. The breading was proportionate and did not overwhelm the fish- which was delicate and flaky. The beer batter was light and crispy just the way it should be. I ordered the Italian breaded cod and it was delicious. The breading has a mixture of Italian herbs which was a nice change from the usual beer batter yet the breading still provided a slight crunch. The French fries were perfect- they had a snap when you bit into them yet were satisfyingly soft and tender on the inside. Our waitress was excellent. Our food was brought to us piping hot so she was definitely on top of things and picking up her orders right away- nothing sat under the warming lights :) she was also very pleasant and professional and despite handling quite a few tables at once, she was attentive and quick with our drink reorders. I highly recommend Schmidty's -whether your looking for a nice,quiet, casual place for the family or a place to hang out and let loose with friends after a long week- Schmidty's has you covered. read more

Seemed like a chill place. Had some good 80's-90's tunes on. Bartender was handing out free Pina Coladas for samplers. They got themselves a new frosty machine to make them. We all said YES!! They proceeded to play the Pina Colada song to set the mood. I am not in to Yoga, I am in to champagne. :P Seems like they specialize in barbecue food fare. I did not eat. I had a beer and sip of Pina (on the bike). Seems like a fun place with friendly service and a band stage. Outdoor seating. Car show days. Bike days. Activities to attract customers. Decent food, but make sure you schedule plenty of time because we've tried them twice and both times they've been understaffed and it took a LONG time to get food and once the server does come you won't see them for a long time so hope nothings wrong with your order or you have to walk around looking for someone. read more

Extremely Disappointing Experience Let me set the scene: two adults, two small children (ages 4 and 6), and an elderly woman who had just finished her last round of chemo and closed on the sale of her home. We were out to celebrate -- 5:30 on a Friday evening. When we arrived, it was understandably busy, and there were no low-top tables available, so we were happy to wait. Less than 10 minutes later, we were seated -- great! Until we saw our table. It was wedged incredibly close to two others. We literally had to shimmy sideways to get in, practically bumping into other guests. The elderly woman in our group, who uses a walker, could barely access her seat. It was uncomfortable for everyone, including the guests beside us. We sat for about 10 minutes before our server appeared to take drink orders (3 waters, a lemonade, and one Old Fashioned). Another 10 minutes later, drinks arrived -- minus one water. Our menus were neatly folded, ready to go, but the server didn't check if we were ready to order. Around 6:15 -- nearly 30 minutes after being seated -- our food order was finally taken (3 fish fries, a grilled cheese, and 2 appetizers). Appetizer plates arrived about 10 minutes later, but the food didn't come until much later -- and when it did, the mushrooms and onion rings were cold. We ate them anyway because we were starving. The empty baskets and plates just sat there, untouched, as our main dishes were still nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, we watched other tables come and go -- including one that was rearranged for a large party that received prompt service, multiple rounds of drinks, and attention from a much more attentive server. By 7:00, still no food and no communication from our server. Another staff member finally checked in and seemed surprised that we were still waiting. Our original server later admitted that he had delayed putting in our order (with kids at the table... really?). He apologized and said they'd been slammed with takeout orders but promised our food would be next. He offered to comp one drink for our patience and said it would be 15 more minutes. At this point, it had been two hours since we sat down. The kids were exhausted, and we'd resorted to Bluey on a phone just to keep them settled. We asked to close out and pay for our appetizers only. As we were doing so, another server assured us our food was "almost ready." Then we watched as food was delivered -- to the large table that had ordered an hour after us. That was the final straw. We got up and left. Neither server stopped us or said a word -- which told us everything we needed to know. We ended our night at Culver's instead -- friendly, fast, and exactly what we needed. My husband and I came here after work for Mexican Monday. My husband is a definite "Chimichanga Food Snob" since his mother, who is a 1st generation Mexican-American, would make him homemade chimichangas when he was a kid. He really liked the chimichanga and was very impressed with the added melted cheese. I had the street tacos with chicken and they were fabulous. Whatever spices were used were sooo sooo good. Jeff, the owner, was very attentive and a super nice guy. I also love that they have trivia on Wednesdays and we will definitely be back. I think we found our new favorite place! read more

Honestly the worst service I have ever had. After getting seated we had to wait 10 minutes before getting to order drinks. (No big deal). Then another 10-15 minutes for the drinks to come. (Only half came). Then about 30 minutes after being seated we finally get to order. 20 minutes go by. (no drink refills in the mean time) The waitress comes back and says they are out of fish. (not necessarily anybodies fault except for the time gap between ordering and being told they are out of fish was odd.) The people who ordered fish had to reorder. Finally, 90 minutes after getting seated our food finally arrives. Only problem is, one of our people didn't get their food. At this time we were informed that the kitchen can't make ribs. Terrible timing on the delivery of this information. The whole meal took 2 hours. Instead of apologizing they decided that gaslighting the table was the move. The manager could've felt bad but instead he said to us "I'd like to see you guys run a restaurant". 1 star doesn't do this experience justice. I am not a yelp reviewer. I specifically made an account just to let people know how terrible this experience was. Completely understandable to be busy and understaffed but an apology goes a lot farther than gaslighting. read more

Really like what they did with the place in terms of small upgrades. Its a good neighborhood bar to have a drink at. Pistol Petes was going downhill FAST (especially food) so i was excited to see someone take over and hopefully introduce massive changes that make me want to make it a weekly stop. While im exited to try new menu items, i will say Im super disappointed in their pizza. Pistol Petes used to be a good solid pizza until it got terrible overtime and it doesnt seem to be fixed. The pizza comes out pretty much uncooked. If you have toppings on it, its not even edible. Im not sure what happened to this pizza but if you do give it a try, order it very well done. The sauce is good, the toppings are good (minus canned mushrooms, yuck). Just bake your pizzas longer. No one wants a floppy thin crust pizza. Thats gross. Ill update this in a few months. I live within walking distance and ill be back to see if they have improved. read more

Met retiree friends here for the 75 cent wings and a time together. This was the first visit since the business had changed hands (originally Pistol Pete's). They did a great job with the remodel to a sports bar. High and low tables plus seating at the bar. Big screen televisions and a wall of video games. We were there the first evening of the NCAA tournament so there was a crowd and quite noisy. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. There were several wing flavors offered with varied degrees of "hotness" including a Thai and Mango Habanero option which I ordered. Wings had to be ordered at least 5 a time. They were meaty and cooked perfectly and slathered with a sticky coating of sauce that was flavorful, but not as spicy as I had hoped. Napkins were available, but we taps would have been a nice touch given the stickiness of the wings. Other orders at the table were loaded nachos, a burger with tater tots and a Reuben wrap. I didn't try any of these, but all were happy with their meals. The guys did think the drinks were a bit overpriced. read more

Everything needs to improve! My 9th or 10th visit and every visit seems to get worse. Our bartender tonight seemed to be in another world one of our party ordered the ribeye, special, medium rare. It came well done mentioned it to the bartender she shrugged her shoulders like no big deal. I Asked the bar manager to take a look and she then did put an order in for a new steak. The rest of our party was done eating by the time that that steak arrived we were asked several times to move down because the bartender needed room for her friends at the bar. Past experiences with really poor service and poor food only to have it happen again in both service and food. I don't see me going back ever. read more

I wanted someplace to take my wife for her birthday. Schmidty's proved to be a great choice, the menu selection was great, the food was presented well and promptly, and the wait staff was extremely friendly....made our whole evening a great experience. The last couple of times we have been to Schmidty's we have had the same waiter...an A. American male. The fact that he seemed gay meant nothing to us. Both times we were there early before any crowds and both times this waiter had no more than one other table to watch over. To get service we had to go out of our way to get his attention. Again we had to leave our table and track him down just to pay our bill. Identical poor service both times. It almost seemed as he was being rude on purpose. While the food was good we were disappointed in his inability to do his job professionally. From now on, if we go to Schmidty's we will be sure not to sit in his area. read more

Food is SO good! I had the Baked Cod tonight. It was a HUGE piece of Cod, baked potato and grilled veggies! Just DELISCIOUS! Live music on Saturday nights is some of the BEST dance music in the area and covers a gamit of genres. Service is always great. read more

Schmidty's has the friendliest wait staff I've encountered in a very long time. Simba, Amy & Jim stopped by our table & made sure we were satisfied. The food was good, but the service was HORRIBLE! The bartenders clearly don't understand that they are working for tips, based on the friendliness toward their customers, and overall attentiveness! Stopped for lunch on 3-20 at 11:45. Room was cold. Waited 20 minutes for the waitress to take our order. Took another 28 minutes for our pizza to come out. It was already room temp at best. Terrible service. My husband and I got our food at the same time and mine was wrong so they took it back and after 25 minutes I still had not gotten the correct meal so we paid for his meal and left. He had the chimichanga and it was very bland. Came here once before and had the pizza and also was very bland. Then ordered some thin crust pizza topped with Italian Sausage - also delicious! Crispy crust, flavorful sauce, ample toppings...the perfect balance. Also enjoyed the selection of beers on tap. Our group had awesome service by Simba. Enjoyed our delicious Reuben Rolls, pizzas, salad and Schmidty Sticks. Seating was in the dining room area with minimal background noise so we could visit and catchup. Restaurant and restrooms were clean and well stocked. Definitely will return. read more

We had wings and pizza. Our waitress, Madeline was excellent. she was attentive, friendly and efficient. The pizza could have been cooked a bit longer. It was a bit soggy in the middle. I know they just opened, so we are giving them some credit. We went for their pizza special. We were very disappointed, pizza was warm (not hot) and crust was soggy, Triangle cut was a bummer too. Definitely not PP pizza recipe as we were told. The bartender poured our pitcher and there was so much foam, should have settled and topped off. Pistol Pete's was a good establishment. The new owner of Schmidty's raised the prices while reducing the quantity and quality of what people would expect. Nothing wrong with the wait staff, but the owner and management have no idea how to be successful. I've been there several times and am reporting on my observations. Once we ordered a specialty pizza called The Schmidty with extra ingredients added. The pizza was brought to our table without all the ingredients on it. It was a pizza with only the extra ingredients on it and not those specified for that specialty pizza. We complained and the female manger comes out to verify it and tells the waitress to take $6 off our bill. Why could we not get the pizza we ordered???? The sauce was bitter and the cheese smelled strange. We again asked for the manager who only said that nobody else complained. I said this was terrible and she said she was already taking $6 off. I said you should have taken the pizza back and given us the right pizza. She said she already hollered at the cook. How does that help the customer??? She then said she could have sent it back but we had already touched the pizza. (We were looking to see if the missing ingredients were under the cheese with our forks) Anyway, I said if that's the best she could do that we would not leave a tip. She asked why since we were served. I said take it out of the cooks salary and we gave no tip since the waitress did not serve what we ordered and was too busy to refill our sodas. We have also gone several times for their Friday fish fry. Each time it gets worse. If you are use to Pistol Pete's fish fry don't bother coming now. The cost is up for a 3 piece cod dinner, and the perch is only two piece and at much higher cost. The choice of 3 or 5 pieces at great prices was something that brought people to Pistol Pete's. The tasty coleslaw has been replaced by a tiny thimble size serving of vinegar and cabbage which is barely enough to put on a fork. You want more? $1.45 more for another thimble. Tatar sauce comes in the same small portion. More costs $0.25 each. What you get is barely enough for one piece of fish so be prepared to pay more. The fish were good however, and you only get a half slice of marble rye bread. We ordered baked potatoes with sour cream and butter, but you will have to decide if the single portion of butter will go on your bread or the potato because you only get one piece of butter. The sour cream comes in the same small container as the coleslaw and tartar sauce. Lots of little plastic containers. The male owner or manager was present on one day instead of the female manager. He was constantly visiting with a group of 4 women next to use. His flirting and hitting in these women was amusing but inappropriate. The women would listen and giggle to his lame attempts at humor (he was drinking) and when he would leave for a few minutes they would talk about what an idiot he was. He was making a fool out of himself for sure but it provided a little entertainment. I was hoping he would ask us about your meal so I could complain about the lack of coleslaw and tartar sauce, but for the hour we were there he was solely focused only on these 4 women. The waitress kept giving him looks and apologized for the small coleslaws and tartar sauces but said it was management's decision to enforce the portions. So we are no longer planning to go back again. I use to organize a larger group of retirees that would always go to Pistol Pete's on Fridays each month, but we will take our business elsewhere. If this business does not change they will not survive long since the Social Hause down the road will take even more of their business. read more

As frequent patrons of Pistol Pete's, we first went to Schmidty's when they opened in October, 2024 as part of their grand opening. It was a debacle. We waited for 2 hours for our food, it was served cold (pizza), we couldn't find our waitress, and the owner was unapologetic other than they were "overwhelmed" that night. A year later (tonight, October 3, 2025) we decided to give this place another chance with our son and daughter-in-law, and their 3 young children. We basically ordered a hamburger, a salad, and fish fries. After waiting more than an hour from the time our order was taken - and watching others who arrived and completed their meals before we were served - our food finally arrived. Flashback to a year - the food was again cold, the order was wrong, and it was incomplete. While waiting patiently for our bill, Schimdty himself determined it was a good idea to open the garage door between the back part of the restaurant and the outside patio. However, the door had a "recoil" when he attempted to lift it with the remote control and the garage door fell down square on my wife's shoulder. At that point, it still took numerous minutes to get an ice bag. Schmidty offered what should have been a more genuine apology but did provide the comforting words "that's why we have insurance" and "I thought you were clear of the door" when he set it in motion from across the room. As we speak, my wife's shoulder is still ailing and my grandchildren left very upset and concerned. As Steve Carrell would say, "Fool me once, strike one. Fool me twice, strike three..." We will NEVER frequent this establishment again... read more
