I've seen quite a few Instagram posts about Burger Nerds so when my SO suggested that for lunch on a Saturday I was excited to try it out. It's decorated in a fun and cute way with all the cartoon decorations. I ordered the single queso burger which was really good but TINY. We also got a large loaded fry to split that came with queso, nerd sauce and bacon. The fries were nice a crispy and the toppings were delicious. I am very disappointed with the way I was treated at Burger Nerds. This was only my second time visiting because my mom likes to support this business, so I decided to give them another try. The first time I came, I was told that if I bought the fries, the drink came with it. On my second visit, I simply asked about that because I remembered what I had been told before. I wasn't asking for anything free--I was only trying to understand my order. Instead of politely explaining it, the owner spoke to me in a rude, disrespectful, and degrading way. I was made to feel like I was trying to get over on them or asking for a handout, which was never the case. I paid for my food and only asked a simple question. What hurt me the most was the way I was talked to. I left feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and honestly wondering if I was treated that way because of my race. I can't say that was the reason, but that's how the interaction made me feel. Customer service is about treating people with respect, especially when they're supporting your business. Unfortunately, because of how I was treated, I won't be returning. I hope no other customer has to experience what I did. read more

Really really really great burgers! In my top 3 smash burgers of all time. Patties seasoned perfectly, cooked to order, served wrapped and ready to go. I really enjoyed the pub burger. My husband ordered the breakfast burger but ended up with a lovie burger, which was still delicious. Knew about this place for a while and heard it was good. Speaking to someone at work who went to the Metairie location finally spurred me to try it. I went to the uptown location. The inside had decent amount of space. Loved all the cartoons on the wall had some Pokémon, ninja turtles, etc which was fun. Ordered one of the weekly special burgers the Lovie BBQ burger. I did the double, which was my coworkers reco and I'm glad I did cause I was as hungry and needed a bit more. Had bbq sauce, bacon, fried onion rings, jalapeños. How could that not be good. Also, split a loaded fry with my SO. Nice and small crispy fries with queso, nerd sauce, and bacon. Food came fast and I think the owner was the one to put our order in. Stumbled upon Burger Nerds this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The vibe is great--laid-back with standard tables up front and a cozy little lounge area tucked in the back. I attended one of the soft opening days, so I can't say what this will be like in the long run, but I can tell you about my experience so far. Everyone was super friendly and fun when I walked in. There is a variety of seating - bar, hightop, lower/regular seating, and bench. I was there right as they were opening so I chose a lower (and more comfortable to me) seat with my book. Order at the counter: a can of Pepsi product, a cheeseburger, and the Brussels sprouts. I could give or take the Pepsi. The cheeseburger was flavorful, but not much difference between this any other smash-type burger with cheese. I was most looking forward to the Brussels sprouts, so that's my focus. They are "Flash-fried & tossed in house spicy vinegar, topped with okonomi BBQ sauce, Kewpie mayo, & shizo furikake, and finished with crispy shallots." Overall, the flavor was so delicious, but after eating some, the tartness just got to be too much. I didn't want to take home leftovers because they wouldn't have the crispness left after reheating, but it was hard to finish them because of the pucker power after eating about half. Overall, I'm excited to have them in the neighborhood. I can't wait until they do a full launch! read more

Rating this compared to other non-chain burger restaurants. We go there every other week. Burger Nerds has a limited menu that they prepare well. Tasty burger selections. Regular fries are okay. Wish they had large steak fries or sweat potato fries. Loaded fries and brussel sprouts are good. Inviting to gamers. Wish they had iced tea. Operating this new restaurant on a shoestring, they're doing a good job. We typically bring our order home to eat. If you live near Maple Street and just want a great burger, I recommend. read more

Don't let the cute decor and fun playlist fool you! This restaurant is so poorly managed and hired the most incompetent staff they could find! Despite not being overly busy (there were two other tables when my husband and I arrived), the service provided was sub-par at best. We had to repeat our order more than once for it to still come out wrong! After waiting over half an hour for our order, I was brought the plant-based version of what I ordered. (Did the words "plant-based patties" come out of my mouth? Not once during any of times I repeated my order.) So we had to wait even longer for them to correct my order. And with how quickly they seemed to "correct" my order, I'm not convinced they even corrected it. (I wouldn't be surprised if they took the same burger but changed the wrapping, in all honesty.) The fries were also bland and mostly cold, so who knows how long they were sitting out in the kitchen. I know what you might be thinking. "There's so many 4 and 5 star reviews! The minimal number of 1 star reviews are just one-offs, right?" Well, I'll stop you right there and burst that bubble! The table next to us had multiple issues with their orders as well that the staff couldn't seem to quite fully correct. It was my first visit so I always order my burger just as the chef prepares it. I had the single queso burger which had all sorts of stuff on it in addition to the Nerd sauce and the queso. I am not sure what it all was but it was delicious!!! We also had the Brussels sprouts and an order of fries. Both were excellent! The only criticism I would have is that they don't serve Coke products and they do need some more substantial napkins. The burger was awesome but it's juicy and skinny napkins don't do the trick. I ordered the single, dressed burger and a side of brussel sprouts. The dressing was tomato, lettuce, both cooked and raw onion, mayo and I think mustard. No ketchup. Pros: The burger was delicious. I think they probably choose and grind their own cuts of meat because it was definitely better than most hamburger places I've been to. They had a mix of caramelized and raw onion that elevated the flavor of the meat. The bun was soft, chewy and an excellent companion to the burger itself. The brussel sprouts were roasted to perfection. The vibe in the restaurant was relaxed. I felt like I could chill with friends for a couple of hours. The staff was very friendly and the pricing wasn't bad. It might seem expensive to some, but this isn't McDonald's and Five Guys is just as pricey for not as good of a burger. They had fountain Pepsi, yay! Cons: Inconsistent seasoning of the burger. Most of the burger was well seasoned, but I took a couple of bites of burger that were definitely oversalted. Over-saucing of the brussel sprouts. Way too much vinagrette and mayo on the sprouts. I couldn't finish my order. That was disappointing because the sprouts themselves were very well made. And I couldn't figure out whether I was expected to bus my own table, or leave my mess in place. Overall, I totally recommend. If you like burgers, you will definitely like this place. The young lady that took my order and subsequently brought my food was really nice and when asked for her recommendation she suggested the Queso Burger which I had seen other reviews on already, most were good. The food arrived quickly, I chose the Brussels sprouts for a side, they were piping hot with crunchy French onions on top. The flavor was great and they were cooked to a tenderness that was good, and not over done. The burger......well I didn't take a photo because once I opened it, I got cheese on my fingers and so I thought I might as well take a bite before I wipe my hands, and I didn't put it back down until it was almost gone.
