I went to watch the second half of the USA World Cup game against Turkey, and after they lost a close game at the end, a heavy set, Hispanic waitresses with streaks in her hair said USA is trash. I responded that they weren't too bad, and that they had qualified and on my way out I heard her chanting to me "f*** USA. F*** team USA." Shameful behavior from an employee of Burger Schmurger. My bunk buddy showed me this place from social media, and since I love burgers, I did what any reasonable person would do--I checked Yelp. After all, you eat with your eyes first, and the burger photos looked great. We made our way through the rain and arrived at the restaurant. I was greeted and seated right away, and my bunk buddy joined me shortly after. Unfortunately, that's where the prompt service ended. We sat for about 10-15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. I wish I had gotten the name of the server who eventually came over because she deserves recognition. She wasn't even assigned to our section, but when she noticed no one had helped us, she apologized and took our order. She was friendly and professional, and honestly, she saved the experience. I could understand a delay if the restaurant had been busy, but it wasn't. Leaving customers sitting without any acknowledgment is disappointing. The food came out quickly, which initially made me a little skeptical, but I had already taken my insulin and needed to eat. I ordered the Pasadena burger, and it was actually very good. I did get a laugh out of the tiny "butt end" of a tomato they put on my burger. Come on--can I get a full slice? Thankfully, the lemon up was surprisingly delicious and helped make up for the tomato situation, though not for the lack of service at the beginning. I drive by this place all the time when visiting White Rock Lake and decided today would be the day to try it. I went around lunch time on a Saturday and it was fairly busy. I had to wait a bit before my order was taken and for the food to come out but it wasn't anything terribly long. I ordered the schmurger, side of fries, and "all the sauces" which is a sauce flight. The burger was small for the price ($10) and nothing special in my honest opinion. I was hoping for it to have more flavor but it felt kind of bland. Same for the fries, they didn't have much of a noticeable flavor to them despite the menu mentioning that they were tossed in a house fry spice. The sauce flight was a cool idea but I wish the fries were good with them. Overall I thought their burger was okay, kind of pricey for what you end up getting. Awesome smash burgers. I have been wanting to try this place for a while. It is large inside with plenty of seating. They have a full bar, and I sat there for lunch. The bartender was super friendly and took my order quickly. I ordered a cold draft IPA, a schmurger burger with an extra patty and jalapeños, and an order of the beef tallow fries. The beer was frosty and cold. The burger and fries arrived quickly. The burger was exactly what you would expect for a great smash burger and tasted great. Food was pretty good overall! The Shmurger burger I got was amazing super juicy meat and a soft bun. I'd give it a solid 10/10. As for the East Dallas burger, the blue cheese definitely overpowered the rest of the flavors. It was still good, but I wouldn't recommend it for your first visit. The spicy pickle margarita wasn't my favorite combination, and that's coming from a pickle lover! I take this hamburger business seriously. There's a lot of trauma involved! This place came recommended by my best friend's husband and I gotta say it landed. I saw this place on social media, where it was being touted as one of the best burger spots in DFW, so I decided to make the trip. The atmosphere was fine, and the music was mostly Gen X-era, which I enjoyed. However, the service experience was not good. It took 10-15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged our table after I sat down, despite my wife having arrived a few minutes earlier. The person assigned to our table apparently decided she wasn't going to serve us that day. That's her prerogative, but I didn't appreciate being ignored for such a long period of time. I only write reviews when my experience is either a 10 or a 0. While this may have been an isolated incident, and I could come back 99 more times and have a great experience, it will always be 99-1 in my mind--and that one loss was the championship. I don't live nearby, but I'm not so far away that I wouldn't consider returning. Unless I'm specifically craving a burger and happen to be on this side of town (I live in southern Dallas, not South Dallas), it's highly unlikely I'll make a repeat visit or recommend this place to others. Oh My, Love at First Bite, This place was a home run for me! I loved the vibe when I walked in. It was energetic and unpretentious. It had a retro feel to the place, even down to the window curtains. There is some confusion on Yelp about this place. There is a random location marked "closed" that never actually existed, so ignore that nonsense and come here. We rolled in around noon on a Tuesday and the place was only about one third full. Our waiter Joe deserves a medal. He was enthusiastic, knew the menu inside and out, and talked up the specials like a pro. Bonus points for energy, Joe. I had high hopes for the mozzarella sticks. They came out as melty cheese triangles, which I fully support. Sadly, the breading was too thick for my liking. The flavor was good, and I appreciated the dill ranch and warm marinara. For our shared entrée, we went with the blue cheese and bacon burger. Rookie mistake. The blue cheese was delicious but completely dominated the whole burger. This was on us. Next time I am sticking to a no-frills cheeseburger so I can judge the actual beef. Oh, and a heads up, burgers here are doubles by default. Wow this place is so overrated. I can prove that the cooks and servers could care less about the food and drink quality. First we ordered a Coke and a root beer. They don't serve Coke products but something else. They were both flat. The employees never have a soda during the day and say "hey let's fix this, the sodas have no carbonation?" While I give them props for making from scratch instead of out of the Sysco bag, these things are so poorly prepared and greasy - see my photo with puddles of grease. Again the cooks and servers have eyes and think puddles of grease are good to go. We ordered 2 burgers. One with Swiss, mushrooms and bacon and one with blue cheese. American cheese, bacon and onion strings. There are two 2 oz patties per burger so the toppings overwhelm any burger meat. I truly believe that people who are responding that it's the best burger are just experiencing the flavor of the toppings because you cannot taste the burger meat at all. My burger had blue cheese and American cheese which were both melted entirely off the burger leaving a faint white haze. I could not taste either. So the cook thought "yeah I'm proud of that." All I could taste was the bacon which was good and the fistful of onion strings. Also the burgers are thoughtlessly prepared. There is no care putting them together. Just slap that stuff on the bun - I guess it's charming and looks homemade? I also ordered 6 buffalo wings. OMG the worst wings I've ever had! I think the meat was freezer burned but hey in they go into the fryer and served with carrots and celery. The celery was very stringy. Now you might think I'm being overly picky but hear me out. Somebody in the kitchen had to use a vegetable peeler on the carrots and guess what - it's super easy to use the peeler on the celery but I guess that would take a little pride and care in preparation. Bottom line $50 wasted on poorly and carelessly prepared food is never a repeat for us. I would go so far to say "Burger Schmuger, shame on you for pulling one over on the rubes." The bacon was crips but not burnt. The burger came out quickly and was hot. I also got a side of fries. On the positive side, they were very crispy. On the negative side, they were incredibly salty. Too much salt! I ate them but it was not very pleasant. My server Aubrea was attentive and friendly. No complaints or problems. Other reviews have complained about small burger size. I thought the size of the East Dallas was fine. It was fairly priced at $12. You go to a burger restaurant these days and a burger is $14-15 or more. Sometimes a lot more. Even fast food places like BK or Five Guys have $10-11 burgers. That said, the overall price was a bit high for a lunch. With fries, a drink, tax and tip it was almost $26. I could have gotten the lunch special for $15 which is a specific burger, fries and drink, but I did not want the burger that was offered. Overall, it was a good experience. I was so disappointed with the ambiance of this restaurant!! It's a sit down restaurant version of McDonald's or In and Out complete with fast food and lots of families with small kids. The good news is you get your food faster than most fast food places - literally minutes later!! The burger is served just like it is at a fast food place in a wrapper. Stopped by this morning right as they opened and there was a manageable line -- everyone that was there at 11AM got seated quickly and comfortably. I was hoping to pick up takeout for myself and my husband (who wasn't with me) and was happy to simply order in and transfer everything to boxes on my own, but the staff behind the bar graciously put together a to-go order for me since it was right at opening and they weren't too slammed with service yet. I really appreciated the accommodation and everyone involved was super nice about it. The gentleman behind the bar also happily filled up my reusable water bottle with ice cold water. Maybe since I came on a slightly slower Saturday (I think this is their first weekend with the new lunch hours) right at open, the takeout order was completed super fast! I think I ordered around 11:05 and food was ready within 10 minutes easily. I had to drive almost 40 minutes to get home, but when I unloaded everything most of the food was still warm and even the mozzarella sticks held up well! The only food on the lukewarm side was the order of Schmurger fries but that was definitely because I was snacking a bit from the box at red lights. Everything we tried was very tasty! The burgers are a tad on the smaller side; I'd liken them to Shake Shack in terms of volume, but honestly splitting 3 burgers between my husband and I was more than enough. My favorite was definitely the Maverick but the O'Brien was excellent (wish there was even more of a horseradish kick!) as was the OG schmurger. Schmurger fries were also great, and the fries held up well to all the toppings loaded onto them. Also really loved the mozzarella sticks; the breading wasn't too thick and stayed relatively crunchy despite the travel time. Enjoyed the marinara and ranch dipping sauces a lot too. I came here for my birthday and got to experience the amazing cheese, pool, mozzarella sticks, and a really delicious Masch burger. Lots of nostalgic children's toys for decoration all around. The owner came and talked to us and shared his story and even gave me a dessert that his grandma would make him every year on his birthday. It's on the menu & a delicious treat! This place was pretty good. A little pricy for what you get. I'm comparing this directly to Jakes when I say that. This was half the size of a normal Jakes burger at a more expensive price. We opted for the managers special. Basically a burger fry combo with a free coke. The service was great and the food was quick to arrive. The burgers themselves were fine I guess. A little mushy with no real chew you expect to get from a smash burger. I think the fat ratio may have been way to high for either of our liking. I just wanted to eat salad after that. Maybe the Pasadena burger which looks like their version of an in/ out burger would be more to my liking. We will give it another try. The salad looks pretty interesting. read more
