    Fixings Bar
    Kurt V.

I came here several years ago long before I was on Yelp. Are used to work in this area so this place was very convenient. It has not changed much except I'm pretty sure it's different ownership now. The burgers are still pretty delicious and the hand cut fries accent them very well. What makes this place kind of unique is that they have a fixings bar where are you? Add your own dressings and veggies to your burger. You can pretty much fix it exactly how you like it. Another unique thing about this place into me probably one of the neatest thing is it's old country charm. It's like stepping back in time.

Wish this place was closer to me. Stopped in since I was in the area and I'm hooked. 1/2lb Wagyu burger for only $11 is insane. Cheese tots came with ranch. And the condiment bar is a nice touch so you can customize your burger as you like. Friendly staff and cool vibes/decorations.

This turkey club sandwich has become one of my most frequently ordered items on doordash. So good, just such a classic simple club sandwich and done so well. And so filling!

You can tell JG's has a lot of history! They make hamburgers the old fashioned way and they are tasty! They even still have a salad bar to put your own toppings on your burger. I am glad that I live close by and can stop in more often! I would recommend if you are looking for a quick cheap place for a burger!

Loved the ambiance of this place! It felt like its name, old fashioned. Counter service was convenient and the big menu above the counter was clear and easy to read. I think about these things now because my vision is starting to fail me and sometimes I literally cannot see the print on the menu board. I ordered a cheeseburger basket with fries and also onion rings on and a cherry fried pie. The burger was a solid classic no frills burger cooked to order and it was perfect. The fries are skin on and hand cut, with perfect crunch and soft interior. Your toppings are self service and lets you customize your burger however you want. I would have liked some jalapenos but they aren't available in the toppings bar. Great place and fun experience!

Veggie Burger (10/10 delicious!) and tater tots :)

The girl with the curly hair at the counter was so kind and professional. Pulled out the ingredient list for the veggie burger for me. Explained the process for us! The ambience was nice, no blaring music or loud TVs. Good came out hot and very quick! The order was right. The tater tots were perfectly crispy and the veggie burger was the BEST one I've EVER had anywhere. It had a crisp outer edge and SO much flavor with an excellent flavor! The cheddar cheese on top was the icing on top and the Mayo at the bar was perfect on top of the crisp burger bun. This was an overall perfect experience with an amazing meal!! I can't wait to come back. I found my new burger place!

I was very excited to try this place. My husband considers himself a hamburger expert. We often try new burger places and JG's was on our list. Today we tried it and sadly it wasn't as good as expected. The burger patties were very small compared to the buns. They also had a taste that I can't pinpoint. Almost like plastic? It was very expensive. $11 for a double cheeseburger. $16 for a meal. The worker taking our order wasn't friendly either. This place had a great atmosphere and I wanted it to be good so badly. Overall, It's up to you if you'd like to try this place but we won't be returning.

****** OMG - DON'T GO ****** I'm a huge foodie and cook - my only mission it to guide you to awesome food - and keep you away from the worst! This place has horrible food on any level. The meat is obviously preformed and frozen when it arrives. The shape, texture, inability to cook anything but well done... and absolutely NO FLAVOR in the meat tells me McDonald's has better flavored meat. (Not a compliment!) I've been 3 times over the years, each time... "ugh, why did I come back!" Well, this time I learned my lesson. I had sweats and horrible diarrhea from 3:30am until 7am... and yes I took meds at 3:30!!! No sleep during those hours - pissed me off to be exhausted at work!!! I felt like I was eating 'air'. The only flavor I could perceive was lettuce, ketchup, bacon, cheese and bread! Absolutely no beef flavor anywhere!!!! No grease because it was frozen and cooked well done. No salt/pepper or anything to say "I'm tasty" - REALLY?!?!!!!!! As though this wasn't enough, I cut my burger in 1/2 as usual to get a photo. Although the bun was cut in 1/2... the meat was a different story. (See photos) One half had almost NO MEAT... it was literally 2 bites and what remained was bread and toppings. The meat is 30% smaller than the bun!! What a joke for $15! I don't judge, but the clientele I saw has no concept of dining etiquette. People stood 4 inches from my table!!!! I felt like asking them if they were trying to sit with me! Disgusting and ruining my meal. Where do people learn such unacceptable behavior!! On the streets?!?!?!!! So, now on to the fries. Yes, they seem to be hand cut (through a slicer) with skins remaining, but they are generally soft and limply. If that's what you like - great. Personally, I expected very crispy fries that crunch when you eat them. (No way of getting that here.) And the worst part was the Coke fountain. The syrup was obvdialed back to increase profits. (It was not low syrup with high carbonation, it was less syrup!!!) It was horrible and I poured it out and went with' 'city water' from the tap. Ugh! So about 1/2 way through my burger I started to feel odd. A sour stomach of sorts. By the time I got to the end of the burger... I knew I was in for a bad GI episode and did not finish my meal. I left as fast as I could! You should do the same... or better yet - trust me and eat at McDonald's instead!!!! At least you will sleep through the night and avoid major GI issues!! Eat there are your own risk!!!

This is the milkshakes on their website. Mine was the worst strawberry milkshakes ever, I didn't even finish it :(

Worst $6 "Strawberry" Milkshake Ever It was pulled from a below-counter cooler, and tasted more like freezer burn than vanilla, much less Strawberry.

Passing thru Dallas Texas and stopped to eat at this place and this was the best homemade hamburger I have tasted in a long time. The buns were put on the grill also and fries were very crispy

And what…read morefollowed was a core memory in three courses and a complimentary Bloody Mary shot accompanied by the cutest green olive. The moment we walked in, it felt like home, but not in the "kick off your shoes" way. No, this was the "you're safe here, baby" kind of home. The vibe? Cozy. Elevated. Like Restoration Hardware met someone emotionally stable. Elliott was our server and an absolute delight. Joseph was the manager, casually spreading joy like Oprah with a tray of Bloody Mary shots. Amber... now let me pause here, because this woman deserves a paragraph of her own. Amber isn't just a GM. She's the kind of soul you meet once and never forget. When I asked for her to come to our table just to pay her a compliment, we both practically teared up. She received it with open arms, no ego, no deflection, just pure, gracious presence. I was mid-sentence and suddenly I had that Creed song stuck in my head. You know the one. "With arms wide open..." That's the kind of energy she brought to the entire restaurant. Amber made every person in that room feel like they mattered. Not because it's her job, but because it's who she is. She's fresh off earning her master's in hospitality, and if that degree came with a crown, she's wearing it. The Porch doesn't just run smoothly. It runs on Amber energy. But let's talk about the moment I saw God. Cornbread Eggs Benedict: Not crab. Not salmon. Corn. Bread. And not just any cornbread. The softest, fluffiest, most cuttable cloud of golden glory I've ever had the pleasure of annihilating with a fork. A fork, not a steak knife. Do you understand how rare that is? Normally I'm out here sawing through an English muffin like I'm in a lumberjack competition. This? Melted like butter. Tasted like a hug. 12/10. Incredible. And then, as if the eggs benny enlightenment wasn't enough, Joseph reappears with a tray of free Bloody Mary shots for the entire restaurant. With olives. For everyone. The joy? Immediate. The energy? Electric. The crowd? Unified. I watched a grandmother at the next table raise her glass like the queen she is. I nearly cried. This wasn't service. This was a masterclass in human connection. Restaurants can be transactional. Robotic. This was the opposite. This was care, intention, soul. My high school principal once said: "The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little bit of extra." The Porch brought extra, bagged it, garnished it, and served it on a tray. Final thought: If you're not brunching here, I'm concerned. If you are? I'll raise my Bloody Mary shot to you. And Amber, if you ever run for mayor, you've already got my vote. I'll run your campaign and show up in a custom t-shirt.

At first, I was a little hesitant because the menu is fairly small, but after my meal, I can see why. Every dish we ordered was absolutely a 10/10. I had the chicken with greens and shrimp fried rice, along with the fried green tomatoes and cornbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I had high hopes for this location because I absolutely love Radici, and everyone has been…read morerecommending Roots to me. Unfortunately, it just didn't live up to the expectations I had. I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.

Often times after it's all said & done, you wonder - was that worth it? Thankfully, that is NOT the experience I had at Haywire! I ate here on August 9th, 2025 and enjoyed everything about it. I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

WILL NEVER BE BACK!…read more HATED. EVERY. MOMENT. OF. THIS. PISS. POOR. EXPERIENCE. EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT. VALET. NOT. FREE. I called before deciding where to eat on a Sunday afternoon to confirm parking situations. Parking is not easy downtown so this played a huge factor in figuring where, out of the dozens of brunch places, to eat. Definitely a bit of a walk to get accommodated at the actual restaurant so valet seemed the most reasonably enticing for parking solutions. Well, I called and spoke with the lady at the front desk. I confirmed with this little girl FOUR TIMES IF 1. They had valet available today 2. If it was complimentary. Come to find out it was not complimentary. And $7 for parking just doesn't sit well with me when there are ample free options else where with satisfying beverage, meal, ambiance, and service. All of which, I DID NOT GET AT HAYWIRE. I come in and although I had a reservation that I was 10 minutes early for while noticing tables available, I was told by that same girl who lied to me about parking I needed to take a seat. Reassuring me that it would only take two minutes to be seated. 10 minutes later I see coupled and groups walking in and guess what? They were immediately sat. While I am waiting to be sat at one of the three clean tables I'm staring at. I finally tell my boyfriend I am about to eat at the bar and he goes to the hostess stand to inform them our frustration and guess what? We were sat immediately. I get seated and there are two standing fans placed next to my table that's blowing my hair all over the f*****g place. I had to tell them to turn them off. What? No AC in this place either?? We immediately ordered and got the elk tacos for an appetizer. The tacos are WAY too spicy and way too salty. Too spicy AND too salty?? They're a no for me. You literally can't taste anything because of both! I HATED these little tacos. Probably the worst I've ever had. Ever seen someone attempt to pinch a bit of salt to season and the entire top comes off?? These tacos. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. He loved it (loves spicy and seasonings because he's Cajun) but I tried it and it was over seasoned. Again? Couldn't taste what I was eating. The mashed potatoes were divine. Enjoyed those! And then the green beans were tasteless. Hahaha what a joke. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles and it was literally too spicy to eat. Inedible. My eyes teared up, my nose started running, and I couldn't taste anything after a couple bites of the spice. I was so f*****g over this place I just ate my boyfriend's mashed potatoes and we left. If I had it my way, I wouldn't have paid for a thing here. They don't deserve our money and I HATE they got a cent from me. I'm livid. I hate this place W I L L N E V E R B E B A C K
