Lemon Pepper Wings with Vegetable Fried Rice and Egg Roll!
    Tiffany S.

CHEAP AND FAST DELIVERY! I ordered the wing combo ($8.75) lemon pepper wings with vegetable fried rice, egg roll and a soda. YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT. The delivery minimum is $10, so I threw an extra egg roll on the order because EGG ROLLS. The wings were PERFECTION. Crispy and coated just right. The rice had tons of veggies and it was fresh!Easily some of the best wings in East Atlanta, from a chinese restaurant. Go check em out! They're open and deliver till 3am!

A true hole in the wall - no dine-in; only take-out and delivery. Not being in their delivery area (probably), I hopped over to EAV to check this place out. I've driven past it a billion times and it's been bookmarked for ages. First order of business is parking in the cramped Citgo lot. People tend to drive about - and park - haphazardly here, so it's a bit of a challenge surviving without getting bumped. The door is to the right of the gas station's door. They have a very small area inside for ordering with three cramped seats that you can use while you wait, or you can wait outside in the gas station parking lot. Perhaps delivery is their preferred method of food distribution? Anyway, it took about 15 minutes to get the food on a Friday at 4:30, which is not too bad. Three items cost ~$17, all were 'small'. For portion sizes, either see the various food photos or look at the sample food containers stapled to the wall. Or see the photo someone took of the wall. Bottom line is that large is huge; small is a more normal portion, I think. Hunan chicken quite tasty and fresh, but not spicy at all. Same with the garlic broccoli & eggplant, although that one isn't billed as spicy. Both were well worth ordering. Chicken fried rice also good, but pretty standard. Probably should have ordered Singapore noodles too. Next time. Recommended. Not open for lunch.

Some logistical challenges like no updated picture menu (people new to Indonesian food had no idea what things were), ordering at the counter(awkward/ time consuming) but overall the owners got thru it very well and pushed thru, the food was delicious and people liked the bottomless coffee/tea setup. I think their sweet spot might be smaller groups where that personal touch really really comes thru and is manageable with the current setup. I hope they continue to grow and keep the food awesome! They have a $18 buffet style sampler on weekends which I may want to try sometime.

The chicken is smokey and juicy! My kids really enjoyed the mie ayam bakso. The noodle is very thin, the chicken is chunky and so flavorful. The bakso is also homemade, not store bought. It's also come with fried wonton a.k.a pangsit goreng. We also try their empek2, batagor, and kwetiau goreng. It's so so in my opinion. I'm really disappointed with batagor. The tofu is stuff with so little fish paste and it's super dry. It's also come with pangsit goreng which have very little chewy meat on the inside. The peanut sauce is very sweet and over powered the whole dish. It's self service restaurant where you get your own drink and utensils including napkins. The spicy sauce and sweet soy sauce is also available on the side. They also provide the food containers for the leftover that we want to bring home on side. The owner is nice and friendly. We order the food in cashier/counter and they will bring the food to the table. They also have mini shop for Indonesian snacks or seasonings. For the payment, they accept any cash form and charge 3% for all credit cards.

It was busy inside, but our party of 10 was promptly seated, though we were a little squished into a circular table. I didn't remember this last time, but instead of telling a server what you want, you mark it down on a paper menu and hand it to the server. This time I got the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodles and the Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp Garlic Noodle. I was really excited to try both since they both sounded so good. Ultimately the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodle was a little underwhelming - the noodles themselves weren't very flavorful, and the BBQ pork was on the drier side. The pork did have decent flavor, and all the toppings/side items (wontons, fried egg, bok choy) were great, but all in all fell a little short of my hopes. The Salted Egg Yolk Garlic Noodles had better flavor, but I could've used even more garlic and butter. The shrimp definitely carried the salted egg yolk flavor, but the fried batter was a bit soggy/soft in my opinion. I wished it was crisper. Service was a tad slow, but perhaps they're understaffed and/or it was busy that night. I do love the menu concept of positioning it like a magazine catalog - it makes for a fun experience instead of just words on paper

The ribs struck that magical sweet-meets-savory harmony, like a perfectly composed song. The pork bao buns? Pillowy clouds of joy, cradling glossy, sweet glazed pork that practically melted on cue. The dumplings were tiny treasure chests of flavor, so good they didn't even need a dip to shine. And the bibimbap? A layered masterpiece, each bite a new surprise that had me doing a quiet little happy dance in my seat. The ambiance felt light and breezy, with charming wooden booths that invite you to linger... though the seats themselves seem to encourage just a slightly shorter stay. Service, however, was a tale of two moods. Our main server was an absolute gem--warm, attentive, and lovely. But one food runner brought a storm cloud to the table, delivering dishes with an energy that felt more "battle scene" than "dinner service." After one particularly dramatic plate drop, we kindly asked for a different runner. Thankfully, the food worked its magic and kept the overall experience glowing brighter than the brief shadow.

Restaurant area was okay with the atmosphere similar to a gas station cafe and an adjoining market of Indonesian products. I was tempted to purchase a package of frozen squid for later dinner prep and then decided maybe another time. Rice was cooked perfectly and curry sauce was rich and flavorful. Green beans with tofu were nice. Eggplant dish was swimming in oil. Pork rib pieces were inedible and unable to be thoroughly chewed due to tough texture and bone fragments. My dining companion had a dish of gelatinous beef and we remarked that we should have read more thoroughly pre-visit before doing any pointing and ordering. So, that's on us! We were unable to translate the buffet signage and ordered based off of appearance only. Would recommend researching before visiting if this is an unfamiliar cuisine as the establishment was not user-friendly beyond a specific knowledgeable dining customer. We were limited by our lack of info. We also believe we visited near the end of lunch service and this may have impacted our specific experience. Everything taste was good, but what really turned us off was the service. It was walk up order, and usually most places like that don't require tip, but I think is the owner, she pointed to our friends to tip, so they tipped, but felt awkward about it. We all sat at the table, and noticed that we were having to grab our food and our friends at the same table didn't, that was no big deal. Because I get it they tipped and paid for the service, but to be fair no one in our group was gonna tip because we assumed it was self-serve. The awkward part came when none of us knew if we could get just water or anything because it was never offered, so our friends asked for water, and the lady only brought enough for her and 2 other friends on their same bill where they tipped, mind you..we all sat at the same table. When we asked if we could get water, we were basically told to go get our own water at the water station. We were all shocked and frankly everyone was left feeling very awkward and uncomfortable. The food was not bad, but not special or good enough for us emotionally ever go back, We are always very generous with our tip, and when our friend told us they tipped, I was going to put cash when we leave, but the lady who "helped" us made the experience so awkward and unpleasant that we didnt feel it was at all worth us tipping, had she brought water to us, we would have given her the tip, but the whole time she would check on our friends asking them how was the food, we were also customers sitting at the same table...soooo no i will never go back. Just be warned if you go, either take it togo, or make sure you tip, otherwise be prepared to be treated as if you were invisible.
