Pretty darn good burger. At first glance it looked small, but it packed a nice punch and was surprisingly filling. Simple ingredients, executed really well. I'd take this over Mister Burger. NFA has that classic ketchup, mustard, and mayo flavor with its signature sauce, while Mister Burger is tasty but leans away from that traditional burger profile. I'm not ready to call it the best burger in Atlanta just yet. Fred's Meat & Bread at Krog Street Market is still my favorite, but Holeman & Finch is next on my list, so stay tuned. My only downside is the Dunwoody location, but honestly it wasn't bad. I made the trip from Buckhead and back in under 30 minutes. This place is a gem in Dunwoody. I came here around the time when they first opened and they have really gotten the recognition they deserve since then. It's tucked under a chevron gas station but don't sleep on this little burger shop. They have THE best smash burger in town. They've expanded a seating area out back which is so nice because we ordered our food and these nice young Dunwoody kids brought it out to us. I've only had a few smash burgers in my day so why not try one that is slinging them on the inside of a gas station. Strange, but understandable ordering process--there's a small kiosk manned by two dudes and they tell you they'll bring your order to your car. Got 2 single smash burgers and enjoyed the quick process for a well priced burger! Solid 3.5 stars! The burgers were close to $6 each and I got fries for $4. The smashburger was simple with the american cheese and pickles and the bread was soft. They add a sauce that brings it together well. The fries had a great crunch and were well seasoned. This place is attached to a gas station, so you just wait in line, order, and they walk it to your car or to the picnic tables outside. Lots of parking in the surrounding back lot for free. This venue sits inside of a Chevron gas station. There is not a dining area on the inside. People either eat in their car or at the picnic area under the trees. They will bring your order to your car or the picnic area. I ordered the Double - Classic with tots. The tots came with sassy sauce. They do not sell drinks but the gas station sells plenty of them. The tots were cooked to order and tasted normal. The sassy sauce was normal as well. The burger was surprisingly good. The only thing that took it from a 5 star to 4 star was the price- everything was a bit pricey; we spent $32 for 2 burgers and 2 sides of fries from the gas station- was hoping to pay more like $25 for the food ordered. Atlanta Eats was spot on again with NFA Burger. I had Billy's Double Classic--mustard cheese, pickles, and that signature sassy sauce. If you want extra toppings, just ask--some are included, others come with a small upcharge. Service was fast and efficient, and I liked that they bring your food right out to you. The inside is simply decorated. There's outdoor seating, plenty of parking on the side, plus a large lot in the back, so no stress there. Overall, a great experience. I'm from Los Angeles and the day I decided to order a smash burger from NFA was the day I saw one grand open online back home. I read great reviews so ended up here for lunch on a Saturday. It shares space with a gas station convenient store, nestled in the corner. I ordered relatively quickly. I paid $16 for a dbl burger and fries and I left a tip prior to tasting the food. 18 minutes later it was brought out to my car. I think the portion was ok for the price, $12 would have been more suitable for the size. It 100% missed on seasoning the patty. You can find NFA Burger at 5465 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338 - the restaurant is inside the Chevron. There's a bit of parking along the side out front but more in the back. During prime hours and especially during lunch, the place is packed and it's a bit of a nightmare to get in and out. NFA has come a long way from back when it was a Buford Hwy pop-up. As then, the burger is probably the best smash burger in the Atlanta area. While more innovative at the onset, there are tons of great smash burgers available now but somehow NFA has managed to stay ahead of the pack. When you first walk up to the Chevron it doesn't appear too crowded but don't let the lack of a line outside fool you - inside the line wraps around the convenience store to an ordering station on the right. Line times typically once you get inside is around 30 minutes, add 10-15 minutes for your order to be prepared. The service is prompt and there's dedicated people who will walk your food to your car, provided you give info on what your driving and where you've parked. If they can't find you they'll yell out your name outside. There are a few benches and tables outside under a covered area and it looks like the station is expanding to the right side - presumably for NFA Burger (I didn't ask but it looks vaguely diner-ish). The burger itself (I recommend the double Billy's Classic) has a crispy griddle crust that's both slightly salty and very savory, with melted American cheese, mustard, pickle and "sassy sauce" - it's quite good and simple so hard to mess up. It's a damn fine burger, but oh, you say, why only 4 stars? Honestly, waiting in line for 30 minutes just to order a burger is just a bit too much like being at a busy food truck at an event. If I walk in and the line comes all the way around to the door, I turn around and go somewhere else. With fame comes all the side-effects but having to wait so long standing around just seems like a waste of time to me. My friend and I picked up lunch here yesterday and we enjoyed it. The burgers are great but I have a few cons to point out that make this a 4 star review instead of 5. First thing I will mention is that I have a strong aversion to spicy foods. I promise I don't have the palate of a third grader - I like lots of different foods as long as it isn't spicy. When something is hot I can only focus on it being that and not anything else. With that being said... I asked for sassy sauce on the side for the double burger I ordered. I thought that would spare me from any unexpected spicyness but it didn't. Something still had a noticeable kick to it, so they kind of bothered me. I'm not sure where it came from. Maybe it's spicy mustard? Maybe it's what they season the burgers with? I'm not sure. But other than that I did love the burger and my friend liked theirs as well The next con I will point out is that you can't get any lettuce or tomato on your burger here. You can get onions and pickles and that's about it. I find that pretty odd. Shouldn't every burger spot offer that? I think my burger would've tasted better with lettuce and tomato. Lastly, I'll mention that the price of a side of fries is a bit high ($4.50) and they really need to provide some type of indoor seating. No I don't feel like driving the food 17 mins home. My friend and I ended up bringing it over to perimeter and eating the food in their food court since it was cold and windy. Now after all that complaining, I will say that in general the burgers tasted great. The food came out quickly. I will say the flavor of the burger is great, but it is a little more expensive than I thought it would be. I'm not sure if I'd want to drop $8 on a casual burger all the time, but it was great to try. I know it's just the style of it, but I'm also just used to lettuce in my burger, and by the last few bites I was really conscious that this was basically just meat, cheese, and bread. It was also just a bit smaller than expected. I had also tried a tater tot from a friend and it was pretty average. Otherwise, it seems like they have a good system down. You order inside, they ask you where you parked, and you're encouraged to go back to your car so that there's not a bunch of people packed inside the gas station. I came on a Saturday night @7pm and waited 20 min to order. I then waited 17 min for food to actually come. They'll either bring your food to your car, to the tables outsides, or you can wait inside and they'll call your name. I got the classic double as is and added grilled onions for $0.75. I also got fries that come with sassy sauce on the side. If you want ketchup, they'll give it to you for free on the side. The burger wasn't anything too special.
