I remember when Burgerville used to put the calories on the receipts. Needless to say I stopped eating for like .... 5 hours. BUT I didn't go back for a while. Since they stopped pointing out all my flaws, I have returned and have put the past behind us. I love that it was made locally, and they still have the great flavors that they did a few years back. They changed the menu to ale cart and stopped doing exchanges (such as a turkey patty instead of beef). It ended up being $35 for 2 burgers with fries and a drink and a kids meal. The service was rude and treated my husband like an idiot because he didn't know they had changed the menu (it's been 6 months since we've been there). They forgot to add the fries to our order, didn't realize until he got home. He went back and the MANAGER, yes the MANAGER didn't even apologize, just said "The best we can do is give you the items we shorted you." The BEST they could do was finish their job. For $35 we could have gone to a restaurant and had actual customer service, without making two trips for it. Boo. read more

For the 4th Plain&Gher location: Ordered 2 cheeseburgers (one w/o ketchup) and a large fry. Went and sat outside, there was only one family inside eating and we went outside to sit. After 15+ minutes, we went in and asked if it was done and they casually said oh yah here it is, handed us our basket and told us he 'couldn't find us' (keep in mind we never moved, were outside at the table the whole time). Our fries were dead cold from waiting so long, so we asked for fresh ones and they did give us new ones. Then checked my burger and it had ketchup on it. Asked for it to be remade and they said okay, then another 10 minutes later we thought they forgot again, the manager came out FINALLY and apologized. This is unusual behavior for BV, but wanted to document it just for manager purposes and hopefully so it won't happen to others in the future. read more

This review comes 2439 miles away from the nearest BV. I had 30 years with Burgerville as an option for grub but now I find it a distant memory only possible on visits and vacations back in the Pacific NW. Let me pay tribute to the 1/2 pound Colossal and Double Beef Cheeseburger with that famous Burgerville Spread that can't be duplicated no matter how good of a copycat recipe you think you have. Tillamook Cheese or Peppered Bacon on a burger? These are unheard of on a drive thru burger North, South, or East of The Dalles. Can you imagine the millions of people that haven't lived this experience? I miss the Wild Alaskan Halibut Fish and Chips and the Walla Walla Sweet Onion Rings. The rest of the world is unaware that a Vidalia can't even be considered "sweet" or an "onion" when compared to a Walla Walla Sweet. Really, we should feel sorry for them, but as the saying goes, ignorance is bliss. These other Burger joints don't offer Real Ice Cream Milkshakes made with locally grown straw clogging chunks of fresh fruits such as Strawberry, Boysenberry, Blackberry, and Huckleberry. Hazelnuts? BV has 'em! Five Guys can offer you a greasy bag and Whataburger is good but over 80% of them are in Texas. I've been to Texas, they aren't that good. White Castle and Crystal's can hardly be considered hamburgers and you have to know a "secret menu" to get something special from In-n-Out. I may have insulted a few with those last comments but any true Pacific Northwesterner will probably agree that Burgerville is more than fast food or a burger joint...it's an Institution! read more

We are from out of state and stopped here on our travels. Restaurant was immaculately clean. Staff was super friendly and courteous. Our food was delicious, everything tasted fresh and piping hot. We do not have a Burgerville near where we live but after this experience, I sure wish we did. Well done guys! read more

Some people say, "Fast food is fast food" and while this may true as an overall statement, we all have those local favorite that we visit every time we go home. Does this mean it is the best around? Not necessarily. However, it satisfies that certain something for each of us locals returning home, that welcome back message to our taste buds, and without effort, usher us down memory lane. During my latest visit home, my husband and I stopped by Burgerville in Orchards on Fourth Plain for a quick lunch between stops on a errand run. The restaurant, was very clean, we were immediately greeted when we walked in, and the person taking our order was very pleasant and efficient. We ordered a 3-piece fish and chips basket and a double-cheeseburger basket, along with a Mocha Perk shake (one of my husband's favorites). While I was pleasantly surprised that Burgerville now offers gluten-free buns as an option, it was not the greatest by far. If you like chewing and chewing and chewing then it may be for you, otherwise, I'd recommend skipping it altogether. The burger, sauce and cheese were fine and the french fries were very crispy and nicely salted. The halibut in the fish and chips had a nice flavor, the breading was light and thin, and the cook on the dish was not at all greasy. There is no other way to describe the Mocha Perk shake except a creamy, chocolate and coffee experience. Yum. Overall, it was a fine experience and I will undoubtedly be back. However, I will not be going with the gluten-free bun option again and will opt to order any sandwich I get in a lettuce wrap or with no bun at all. It may require a fork and knife but will well be worth it. read more

Best burger joint in town. I remember coming hear as a kid and there was an train in the dinning area kids could sit in an eat. Well the inside has changed into an malt shop style dinning. The outside remains the same appearance. I'm glad the food has remained the same and not changing the quality and tast of the food to maximize profits by corporate greed. This was a few weeks ago. Had to wait a little longer in the drive thru for truffle fries and they gave us a free sundae for our wait!

Second time in a row where the sweet potato fries were not fully cooked, not crispy at all. Cheeseburgers were dry, buns seemed stale....

I was very shocked when I drove up to the drive through to order the Walla Walla sweet onion rings I was used to ordering every year. The attendent asked what size I would like, The 5 piece for $ 5.50 or the 10 piece for $ 10.50. That was double shock because I had never paid that price before. The simple math made these onion rings cost one dollar apiece. That was before tax was added on. I received my order in a container that was no bigger than my open hand and all 5 of these onion rings were smaller than 3 inches and the smallest at 2 inches. Yes a local fast food joint! I now live in Seattle but grew up in Vancouver and ate these all the time as a kid. I know every city has their own burger joint, Seattle has Dicks, Cali has In and Out, but I still gotta say Burgerville is the place! I like how they have local ingredients and have local seasonal specialties. I would recommend just the good old cheeseburger and their shakes! All of their meat is local from Yakima and is never frozen. Fish is caught locally on the Washington coast, and everything else is local and fresh. Walla Walla Onion rings, raspberry lemonade, rosemary fries, sweet potatoes fries, fried asparagus and Anasazi bean burger. These are the only items I order there, and they are fantastic. I wait all year for the onion rings, they are so worth it. The prices are pretty high, but their food comes from local farms. I still pay the high prices because it's so good. read more

I am not sure what has been going on lately with places we used to frequent. Today I thought I was on a hidden camera show or something. We entered the establishment and were second in line to get food. About 2:00 today which is a Saturday afternoon. They were not busy inside with maybe 3-4 tables having people. The cashier was a trainee which was fine. We come up and sit there for probably 2-3 minutes while she if fumbling around with something under the counter and never even looked up. Another cashier comes up and says take a 10 minute break and she leaves and he is like be with you in a couple minutes and walks off. Really?? Yes really. Two people in line behind me grumble and walk out after I asked what in the world was going on. Cashier comes back after a minute or two takes our order, we get a number, and sit down. In a reasonable time one of the managers with read shirt comes out with a partial order of food. He sets everything down and says I owe you fries and I remark and a milkshake. He says they are cooking and he will get them to us right away. My wife and daughter are half way through their burgers and I go back up and ask where my fires are and that we are half done with our meal and I have seen a couple of trays with fries go past us since we were shorted ours. I was told no problem and that they are still working on the shake. I reply no there is a problem. As my wife and daughter are taking the last bites of the burgers the fries finally show up. I am not happy at the point I ordered and now I am sure that some camera guy is going to jump out because I am about to blow up. The girls are done eating, and still no shake. My third trip to the counter to get a refund for the shake and low and behold nobody can't find the Manager that has the override key for the register. She is in the back somewhere while there is complete mayhem on the counter, as I am standing there with a mom back at the counter because she is has been waiting 20 minutes for ice cream. BTW they tell us the ice cream machine is broken and she has been sitting there with a table full of kids for no reason. I shake my head after they finally find the gal with the override card and get my $5 back and we split. Drive through is backed up 10-12 cars. That place is a mess especially for the $38 we spent to feed 3 people. When we tried to put away our trays I notice every garbage can in the place is overflowing. This place needs to get its house in order. It is a mess... Your in for treat if experiences like this are something you can tollerate. Used to love this place, now I have to leave it.... read more

1,000% done with BV. I really want to support them in theory (local, sustainable, etc) and I have many of fond memories of going to BV as a kid growing up in Vancouver. Unfortunately, the current reality is that I have come to expect both sub-par service and sub-par food from them. The drive through service typically at best is rushed with no greeting, or even half a second to ask for condiments before the window whisked shut. The food, if the order is correct, is either stale/dry/tasteless, or so over salted that it's inedible (and I am not sensitive to salt). There's at least four seasonal favorites that I can name, that I just no longer order because the quality (or recipe, or portion) isn't the same as it was 5-10 years ago. For some reason, the request of "no spread" on a burger, is a recipe for confusion. More often than not, I get extra spread. Or, no spread but extra ketchup. Ketchup soup with a dry beef patty on a bun. Anyway. I digress. They say the definition of crazy is repeating an action and expecting a different result. I'm done being the crazy one. Farewell Burgerville. I really wish it could have been different! Rating is 2 stars because it's still better food than national fast food chains and they still manage to make consistently good milkshakes. read more
