I've been waiting to write a review of BVH for a while now, just wanted to see how I felt after a few visits, ya know? Dr. Le is awesome. The support staff are awesome. I love this place and have always felt good about our visits here. My pup loves coming here because everyone still dotes over her even though she is no longer the little puppy she once was. Oh my goodness, she was such a cutie when we brought her in at 12 weeks... everyone was enamored but I always figured "who doesn't love a puppy?" I thought that would wear off... but nope. The staff all love her and make her so happy to be there she never even notices she gotten a shot or had her nails trimmed. It's almost a social visit for her! Twice, we've had after hour emergencies and had to take our pup to Blue Pearl. I felt like I was cheating on Dr. Le and BVH. But, I also know the crew at Blue Pearl are good folks and they don't charge extra for after hours service. Now, get this - BP and BVH are on some system where they "talk" to each other! BVH knows when I've had to go to BP (busted! :) ) and they called me to see how our puppy was doing after our BP visit! How awesome is that?!?! Just a simple phone call but it really made me feel they care about our pup's well being. At our next follow up visit, I explained why we had to take our pup to BP and they were very supportive of the decision. And said they wholly support us going to BP during times of need. Needless to say, BVH is our place and Dr. Le is our top doc! read more

I am concerned about every pet who gets euthanized at this vet's office. I strongly believe that a pet's end-of-life journey should be as stress-free as possible. My several requests to staff for folks to try not to slam the door (which is right next to the room where euthanasias take place) when pets were being put down there was met with apathy. I was never told that the prednilasone prescribed for my cat's IBD could worsen her heart problem. Since reducing and monitoring this drug her heart status has improved. It's gone from a heart gallop to a heart murmer. read more

This is an impressive, high quality veterinary service. Our 3 canines have seen several doctors and they are all extremely knowledgeable and competent. Recently we saw Dr. Whitty for the first time. She is excellent, empathetic to her 4 legged patient and has the bonus of a good sense of humor. There is also a strong support staff. read more

This place is so shady. First off. Their prices are so insanely crazy. You could make an appointment. At a VRBO at the beach. Get your dog spayed there. And still have money leftover to party. I had my 8 month old Chihuahua quoted out at 678$ To get spayed and one tooth pulled. I got her spayed for 175 and Eastern Washington. 175.! Another thing that's shady is. They don't. Check out your dog in front of you. Which my vet in Eastern Washington and Camino Island did. They take her in the back. And do the exam back there, which is totally shady.. My dog. Went in on my deceased. Wives account. And I wanted to get her records I sent in a copy. Of her death certificate that they made me send them and they told me it was too blurry everywhere else accepted it. I finally get the. Records from a sister. Don't know how I got him from her sister. When? That's not her dog. And there's notes all over this account that say how. Much * **** I am and. I'm not a nice person for taking my dog elsewhere. I was told that this clinic does a certain surgery ...and then when I get into the office for my appointment the doctor confirmed that they do offer the surgery my dog needed.. but then kept trying to talk me out of doing the surgery with them. She also suggested that I see a surgeon or a specialist instead. The way that the doctor implied that her colleague wasn't suitable for the surgery despite having experience .. made me feel as though she didn't really believe in her skill or ability. As I waited over a month for this appointment I was very disappointed and I felt as though I wasted my time. i'm advocating to anyone who lives in burien and surrounding areas to NOT go to BURIEN VETERINARY HOSPITAL FOR ANYTHING AT ALL. i called them and asked them a question regarding an injury my puppy had they insisted i bring her in even though i TOLD them i CANT afford it, they told me they'd give me a free evaluation, although i knew they wouldn't be able to tell me anything at all without an xray which i TOLD them and they STILL insisted that i came in and they proceeded to do an evaluation and then threatened me if i didn't pay for something at all which was pain medicine and called animal control told them i refused care for my animal when all it was, is we couldn't afford an xray at the time. (i told them we would be able to afford an xray and any further care she may need by her next appointment date as well as i told them i'd call them with any updates on her health at all) BVH cancelled our account with them after we mentioned a lawsuit in a phone call after i spoke to animal control. BVH told me i had three options to pay for pain medicine ($35) surrender her or euthanatize her, my 12 week old puppy who simply had a hurt leg. the manager there told me she "allegedly" said to me face to face multiple times that she was going to call animal control and that's UNTRUE. she told me she never mentioned euthanasia at all which SHE DID, and the kicker is, they didn't even put into my file that she was in the room speaking with me at all, i had animal control call me and ask me if the information they gave was true, and i told them it was false (they called and only wanted to know if the information BVH gave was true or not so it's possible theyve done this before) and she (rebecca) told me over the phone that i never told said that i couldn't afford care, but that's what i told them over the phone before i went in so that's completely untrue. the manager Rebecca/Becca is one of the worst people i've ever dealt with, she kept interrupting me and then proceeded to tell me i was the one talking over her and all i was doing was continuing what i was saying but even louder than before because she decided to cut me off as i was speaking and she hung up on me as i was speaking (i have that phone call on recording) as well as didn't return my call as they stated they would, and also cancelled my puppies shots without notifying me as well. DO NOT GO HERE tell everyone you know. do not give these people anymore business they do not deserve it. the emotional distress i've had to go through from simply dealing with this place is unbelievable, disgusting and shameful. i'm mentally unwell as it is and the added distress has been TRAUMATIC. there's no record of this woman (rebecca) even speaking to me, nobody will ever know what she truly said other than what they hear because she went off record to threaten me over $35 and also one of the receptionist there told me and my mother (who i had on the call with me) that the manager (rebecca) was rude and makes everything more difficult in their work environment and for customers :)) do what you will with this information. they don't care all they want is $$ even when you tell them you don't have any then they won't give you your animal back, they'll threaten you until you pay them and THEN they'll give you your animal back. what a disgusting way to treat a young woman trying to find her way in the world, BVH should be ashamed for how they've treated me. just like the final word i seen in another review, pathetic. read more

Lol first of all it is not my pet. That was my daughter's best friend. The people you are talking about giving a bunch of service ideas to were 2 teenagers who told your doctor repeatedly let me text my mom to ask. The girls said your doctor used a lot of medical language they did not understand. Then when i looked at the services the vet also gave the dog the covenia shot $79 and a fecal cup. Still totaling $422. When i called up the only part that could get refunded was the fecal cup. I am happy to take my business somewhere else. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE A FAT WALLET. I'm so disappointed. For over 20 years now, BVH has been my vet clinic. They were always extremely friendly and helpful. They've handled the new additions to our family, as well as those that have left us, always with kindness and compassion. Any time there was an emergency, they made time for us on the schedule and guided us through the situation with excellent communication and skill. Their pricing was always on the higher end, but it was comforting to see many of the same faces each time I went in. I never thought that I would ever have anything bu praise for them. But times have obviously changed, and now I find myself without an established vet hospital. Over the last 2 years, I have contacted them 5-6 times for various reasons, mostly minor injuries and standard vaccinations. On every single occasion, they have barely heard my question before telling me that they are booked out a month or so in advance, and that I should try another local vet hospital. It almost felt like there was a negative remark on my account, but I've always paid in full at each visit. I'm happy for BVH that business is so good, but it feels like they have no time for people like me, who were there for them when business was slow. It makes me sad to write this, but I know at least 4-5 other former clients who feel the same way. read more

I'm really glad I came here! I wouldn't want to go anywhere else! Great service and doesn't hurt that it's not far from where I live haha I love that the front desk folks are actually "animal lovers" too. When I came in for my appointment, everyone was just smitten with my kitten. It was my first visit ever and I was worried it was just gonna be a hospital "out to get the most money" every visit kind of place. I feel like they do a great job explaining why and what they're gonna do and they don't make it feel weird when you bring up the costs for those things. I especially like that there are two waiting areas for dogs and cats, I wasn't expecting that at all. My kitten wasn't scared or seemed to be in distress at all the whole time and I think that shows how comfortable their hospital can be especially for newcomers like myself. After being a customer here for years, I will never be back after my last experience. It's a really long story but I will give you the short version. My cat got diagnosed with diabetes. This diagnoses was really scary for me because I travel for work, so treatment was going to be a challenge. I was speaking to Dr. Kamdar and trying to find a way to treat my cat. I have never felt so disrespected in an already scary moment in my life. Dr. Kamdar told me to get a new job and immediately started lecturing me about my commitment to my cat. I take my commitment very seriously and was desperately trying to find a way. I had several calls to pet sitters to make arrangements when I was gone. A new job would be a career change for me and that's not in the cards. She also made a flippant remark about me leaving my cat when I travel right now. She doesn't know the details of my schedule and was totally out of line making that remark. I wasn't going to leave a negative review. I wrote the clinic an email describing what happened in detail and why I would be finding a new vet. I wanted them to have the opportunity to acknowledge the way I was treated was unacceptable, which they didn't. There are so many fabulous vets in the area. My new one rocks!! I have a cat who likely has a strange fungal infection in his forehead, and the veterinarians have worked so creatively to help *hopefully* help his health improve, but also to make him more comfortable. My dogs and cats have been going here for 25 years. I highly recommend them. The doctors and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. My dogs are my life. Three of my dogs are working dogs, and my livelihood depends on them. We couldn't do our work if we didn't have a reliable vet. Not only do they heal your pets, but they give great advice on keeping them healthy, so you don't have to go to the vet so often. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VETERINARY CLINIC!!!!!!! ============ My 13 year old dog (pitbull) was turning into a skeleton. Chronic diarrhea, thirsty all the time drinking 2 gallons of water a day. This went on for three weeks while I took her to five corners. They were expensive and unresponsive. So I searched yelp finding "Burien Veterinary Hospital". Things are very tight for us right now. I am struggling to get hired at a job that will offset daycare and travel. I explained this to the doctor. So we did the minimal tests which after visit came to $200. $300 more after 2nd visit with x-rays and prescriptions/food. Caveat is it was worth it. My dog either has been given a 2nd chance (as she seems totally healed, gained all of her weight back) from the prescription of prednisone, imodium ad and a new diet starting with rice, chicken and slowly introducing the prescription food we bought at the vet. My dog hated the old kibble but loves this new prescription kibble. The canned food although a dollar more than science diet is much more dense and easy to push a pill into. All in all my baby Shasta is better and back to her old self again. Playing ball, smiling and happy. Even if it's short lived because it might be intestine cancer or a disease of the intestine, I am extremely thankful. How much time do any of us have anyway? We just cheated death and gained more time thanks to this doctor and their honest practice. They weren't cheaper per say than others, but they got the job done right. Well worth every penny, even as broke as we are. =========== update 1/22/15 My dog is still doing very well. She's eating the prescription food and is very healthy and happy. ============== update 6/5/17 ============== I still go here for our two cats (16yrs old and a 17yr old). We also have a new dog almost a year old. They are still wonderful and experts in what they do. When I go they ask "which doctor preference", I always say "none" because they are all equally awesome. My first and only impression is based on the short notice house-call they made to our home: they have heart, and sometimes heart is enough. We've been taking our cats to Burien Vet around a year now. I had to bring my eldest in on short notice when she became ill. It was a stressful, difficult situation for me. Everyone there was compassionate. They were very busy, but they worked me into the schedule. Unforunately, our girl was diagnosed with liver failure. Dr. Le was helpful and talked to us about our options. They gave us a recommendation for a weekend emergency clinic in the event that our girl did not get better. Unfortunately, that was the case and we had to let her go on Easter Sunday. This Tuesday, when I came home from work, there was a card at our door. It was HAND DELIVERED by Burien Vet Clinic and hand written by Dr. Le offering their condolences over the death of our beloved pet. I was so touched. Sometimes it's the littlest things that make all the difference. They've taken good care of our cats. I've been to a number of vets over the years and I have seen good and bad. These guys are great. I would highly recommend them for competency and compassionate care of their clients and their owners. read more

I am SUPER UPSET that they didn't have me scheduled for my 2 pups that I made an appointment for 2 weeks ago when I first got them! I literally waited for this day to come because I knew my pups needed their first wellness exam and next set of shots. When I called 2 weeks ago, the receptionist gal was super nice and professional. She answered all of my questions since it's been so long since I got a new pup (2 in this case). Even accomodating to my days off (fridays) I went ahead and agreed to today, friday 6/29/18 @ 11:00am for my pup. I called a couple of days later letting them know I got a 2nd pup and wanted to see if I can bring them in together or if they had another time where it was a back to back appt. They got down the 2nd pups info, everything was set to go. I didn't receive any "reminder calls" but I didn't know if it was a standard thing that they don't do so I didn't let it bother me too much. When I showed up with my dad, my kids and my 2 pups.. they were a bit confused saying they don't have me on the schedule or see anything at all. My initial thought was YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! I literally was freaking out about not being able to have my pups get their shots because I know most places are appointments only and are booked out at least another week. Anyway, the gals did a little digging and said it was Jeannie & Ariel who scheduled, which then did ring a bell afterwards to me that it was them I spoke to, but they said it was rescheduled to thursday 7/5. Seriously, why would I schedule it on a day I'm working and I even showed them my call log to prove I spent 9 minutes on the phone the day I scheduled for my pups. The 2 gals at the front (I am sorry I didn't catch their names) were super nice and apologetic. I know it's not their fault but I'm sure they could understand my frustration, especially when they offered to squeeze me in even though the wait could be long. Thank you to 1 of the gals who called and sent me to the walk in at Normandy Park because I could not reschedule another week or wait all day after being this upset. I do everything in Burien so that is why I scheduled my pups' appointment here. I had to wait 1.5 hrs at Normandy Park which irritated me because this could have been avoided if schedulers did not make an error on their part. I can't consider transferring the files back now because it seems to be a hassle and I don't need future errors like this happening again. Hopefully your clinic has a system that can track why, when and who it was that rescheduled and made it difficult for clients like myself. I work in the medical field, also a clinic, and know that there is always a way to figure out what had happened. read more

I take both my boys here and will not take them anywhere else as long as I live in seattle. These are the best vets around, very kind and compassionate. They are completely aware of my animals history and are very gentle to both my pets. Of all the vets my very antisocial dog has been too this is the one he minds the least. My cat could care less and is just happy to get out of the car, but they helped me diagnose and treat a problem another vet told me was "uncurable" with him so he has them to thank for that. I will say I wish they had a voicemail system so i could leave them a message for scrip refills... and i wish the girls at the front desk weren't so pissed off at life but other then that I will not complain about these guys and I won't go anywhere else. read more

Dr. Le has been my vet for 18 years and I she is incredible. She has always taken the time to explain her diagnoses and treatment , answer questions, and listen to concerns. She is compassionate and attentive. The staff is also great - all of them have taken the time to get to know our dogs and have been patient and helpful with scheduling, providing treatment, and making our dogs feel comfortable. We've been bringing our dogs to BVH for over 30 years. Our senior dog is currently under care for diabetes, and finding the right insulin dosage has proven to be challenging. The doctors and staff communicate very closely with each other and are familiar with his condition, discuss treatment options, are aware of his present status, and future options of treatment. No matter which staff member I speak with, they seem to be extremely knowledgeable of our dog's situation. They make an awesome team. They inspire much hope in us that we can provide our dog with a good quality of life in his remaining years. The positive reviews are 100% on point. I brought my sick cat - vomiting, lethargic, and walking slowly - in for a check up and it turned out to be an abscessed gland. Dr. Whitty explained what the surgery would entail and the risks with careful consideration that my little guy is part of our family. Several of the nurses stopped by to check in as we waited for the rooms to open. It wasn't terribly long, but in the face of bad news the wait stretched out interminably and I appreciated the brief contact. It may not be polite to discuss it around medical care, but the price that was initially outlined was the cost that I paid in the end; that is an almost unreal level of customer service given the current climate. read more

For the most part we have had good experiences here but giving them a sub-par rating due to their pricing. We found them at least 30%-50% more expensive than our previous vet in the University District and charge you at least $55 minimum for every exam - even for a recheck they requested you schedule. They are convenient to where we live now but with an aging dog, we must look for a new vet with more reasonable prices. read more

I spent year developing a relationship with these guys. They were happy to take my money when my kitties were healthy. As soon as one of my kitties had a problem at age 11, I got passed around from staff person to staff person and had to re-explain the situation every time. Dr. Kamdar and Courtney have been wonderful to see and interact with! I have a bulldog with medical problems that has caused me to be a frequent visitor. Courtney ALWAYS greets me with genuine kindness and looks out for me and my pet. Dr. Kamdar spent well over an hour and a half (past business hours) going over the treatment options for my dog, and how we will tackle the issue. She explained everything in terms that was understandable, she was humorous, outgoing, and obviously excels in her field. I highly recommend this vet to anyone who is looking to be welcomed with open arms and to receive expert treatment!
