We love this animal hospital and have been taking our two large mutt dogs here for years after a coworker (in the pet industry) recommended this place (she also worked there a bit so she knew from the inside out, and she was not wrong!). Everything from scheduling, front desk staff, vet techs, vets, email communication and care for our pets has been wonderful. We have a younger dog who requires little care beyond vaccines and check ups; he thinks going here is like going to the greatest dog camp ever and that he is the main attraction/celebrity! Treats and pets in abundance. Our older guy has had some recent cancer treatment for lymphoma (the tougher kind) so we got some initial info here then they recommended us out as we needed a higher and more specialized level of care and treatment (multi-phased chemotherapy). It's also a good time to note that we use Trupanion pet insurance and do recommend that too; it helps us take finances mostly out of the equation when we need treatment for unpredictable accidents and illnesses for our fur babies. Very educated doctor's , took my little Rascal to the hospital after 2 operation at a different Veterinarian, she had what turned out to be a abscess tooth that the previous vet didn't catch after having her sedated twice. 1 look at Normandy hospital the doctor pretty much called what was the issue without even having Rascal sedated. Rascal had a open wound for over a year which finally got infected, I was thinking about putting her down as she is 13 years old but my buddy her guardian angel said he'd pay half which I declined but took her in to get treated . I really wasn't into paying for a third operation, but it was well worth it. She's so happy now and I'm so glad to see her that way. After going elsewhere, our dog is now free of giardia having finally received treatment that focused on resolving the issue rather collecting as much money as possible. I'm happy to have cut my losses at this clinic and highly recommend people go anywhere but here. My other vet in Normandy Park was booking more than a month and a half out. I called Normandy Animal Hospital and spoke with Nick. He was super helpful and was able to fit me in their schedule. He explained how everything would work for a first time visit for my cat. All of the staff was incredibly sweet. Unfortunately I can't recall the name of the gal who was our first technician but she was super sweet! My second visit I worked with Whitney to clean my cat's ears, she even taught me how to do it at home myself with the flush solution. I love this clinic! read more

I take my new Rescue dog here and both he and I love the place. The big fear I had taking my Rescue to a Vet was that I was going to be seeing $$$ signs. Not what happened. They checked him out and he had one issue, did not cost a lot of money. Dude, (my dog) is very sensitive about having his nails trimmed. They are working with me to get them down to where they need to be. I feel like they care about my dog as much as I do. Very disappointed - I have been going to this office for a long time. I have 3 pets that they've seen for annual exams, neutering, teeth cleaning, etc. I have spent a lot of money, but when I had an emergency they refused to see my pet even though I called first thing in the morning as they already had one emergency. When asked if I could come in the following the answer was no - I had to wait & call again in the morning. I don't trust emergency 24 hour vets - had a dog die in their care. We had a great first visit to Normandy Animal Hospital today. Unfortunately, it was because our dog swallowed a bully stick whole and we needed an urgent appointment. Neither our regular vet nor 8 other hospitals (including the ERs!) had availability, so we ended up here. I'm SO glad that we did! Dr. Vo was amazing and immediately understood our dog's anxieties and medical history. She clearly explained every option and its cost before proceeding and helped us weigh the pros and cons of potentially "extra" measures. Maggie is already feeling better and we're so relieved that she got such fantastic care. Dr Dolinko is the absolute best! He goes the extra 150% to care for your pet! He went far and beyond to get my dog the care he needs for surgery. Unfortunately it can't be done at this facility due to an underlying cardiac condition. He called and spoke with our cardiologist and found the best place for his dental surgery. He even offered to do preop lab work and antibiotics prior to surgery. He always goes the extra mile. :) read more

Great People. Doctor is very patient with my pug Spike. he shows he really cares about who he treats. and one of the few vets that actually explains what is going on , and why the treatment is best. Spike and Lilly get so excited about seeing Dr. John. most vets they shy away from but at Normandy animal hospital. its a social call for them. even the receptionist they love seeing her too. I used to think Dr Salvatore was a decent dr. However after them being unable to stabilize my beloved cat that had diabetes I started to lose faith. His care was passed off by Salvatore to another fill in dr while he was gone for two weeks which ultimately resulted in my beloved pet being out to sleep. That however was not the straw that broke the camels proverbial back. My Dog had what looked like a blister on her paw that wouldn't heal and after two weeks of monitoring it we took her to see Dr Salvatore. He chastised us for waiting so long and said he thought it was cancer. I love my little girl and the thought that I'd done her harm by waiting was hard to bear. I asked what needed to be done and he said an immediate blood test which I consented to (obviously). He called and said the blood test was inconclusive so naturally I asked what next? He said we needed to cut off half of her paw to save her life. I asked, you don't even know that it's cancer as you said the test was inconclusive? He responded with let's do another test then. Same one. Of course I'm doing another test before I let you cut off half of her paw with a 3 to 6 month recovery time I said! That test also inconclusive. Then he wanted to schedule her for surgery to cut off the paw and I said no way! I also informed him it seemed like a money grab and I wasn't going to pay for inconclusive tests that did zero for my pet. Needless to say we took her to another vet who immediately diagnosed it as a blister ( correctly I might add) and being the quack that he is sent us to collection for his money grab taking zero responsibility for his incorrect diagnosis. He will never see one dime as he nearly had me remove part of my little girls paw for ZERO reason. Be careful of this guy he's a money whore. read more

They sent me a post card with a picture of my dead cat! The one time I took one of my cats to this place, in an emergency situation, I find out MONTHS later they took a picture of her- when she was feeling her worst!- WITHOUT my knowledge OR permission. They used it on a postcard I just now received in the mail to remind me of feline oral health checkups. THEY diagnosed her with severe kidney failure! THEY told me the subcutaneous hydration they did probably wasn't going to be enough, and if not, to bring her back for hospitalization or euthanization that weekend. Well, she didn't make it the two days to the weekend. I had to call a vet out to put her to sleep because she was suffering. This was in June 2013. What a wonderful surprise to get a picture of her all sick and ragged looking in the mail reminding me to have her teeth cleaned. Where was the post card, the call, to follow up on her diagnosis? Never got one. The vet who saw her was nice, but only worked a few shifts at this clinic. The people who sent this card didn't check with me for either the picture, or the status of my girls existence. This is the worst thing you could expect from someone who is supposed to care for your furry friend. I will NOT be bringing my other cat to them! How dare you!! read more

My pets and I have been visiting Dr. Serratore for over fifteen years. I've always found him to be knowledgeable, friendly and very conscientious. Although my first dog could be a real handful at times, Dr. Serratore was always patient with him. Whenever we've had emergencies, he got us right in, regardless of how close it was to closing time. I needed dental done for my Elder cat and Dr. Serratore and I worked things out. She had been in the family for years, but I took the family cat when my father became ill after a period of time and she had major issues. (Needed all her teeth she had left removed, cleaning, antibiotics, gum surgery) He went though the steps necessary and consulted me through each step. Working in dentistry as a dental assistant myself (on humans of course) He wasn't what we call "scalpel happy". Good ethical practice, doing just whats needed, not whatever he could charge for. read more

I am extremely disappointed with Dr. Serratore and will NEVER take a pet there again. He was always performing way too many expensive lab tests and also gave a very bad misdiagnosis of my pet's problem. I have found a much better vet down in Normandy Park and now my pet is back to normal health and without having to spend thousands of dollars. read more

I've been bringing my kitties to Dr. Serratorre for nearly 20 years! I agree with another reviewer who commented on how kind and compassionate he is! I suspect the one-star reviewing person is perhaps a plant from a competitor because one of the things I have always appreciated about Dr. Serratorre is that he will tell you all the tests that COULD be done (because, as he points out, that's part of his responsibility as a caregiver for our pets), but he understands real world limitations and works closely with me to help figure out the best solutions for whichever cat I've taken in. The staff are all caring as well and I think almost everyone working there is helping to foster kittens or puppies with a local rescue group. Delsie has been the receptionist/assistant for several years and she is fabulous - also a very compassionate person who is skilled at handling a variety of client personalities and situations. read more

Dr Serratore is kind, compassionate and a wonderful veterinarian. Over the past ten years, he has cared for our pets and operated on two of our cats. Before both surgeries he explained our options, and was careful not to guarantee results, even recommending a specialist. But both times, our cats made a full recovery and we owe it all to Dr Serratore. The last surgery was especially difficult, but we couldn't have asked for a better outcome. Our cat, who could barely walk, now runs like a kitten, pain free. Another plus, he never tries to talk you into expensive procedures, which is very much appreciated. The staff here don't really communicate well with each other and there's never a doctor there when you need one. The drugs are RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE apparently in order to pay rent for their strip mall location. My dogs prescriptions sometimes take up to 2 days to be filled and sometimes they don't even have enough drugs on hand to fill them. I got half a prescription last time and was told I'd get a call when the rest came in. My dog went through all they gave me but I never got a call. My dog finally ran out, I had to call them and was told they didn't know what I was talking about. They said the receptionist hadn't told them anything about it. "Um, how many did we give you?" they asked. "Don't you keep a record of that somewhere?" I answered. I've gotten very tired of coming up to the counter to get medicine and being told there is nothing they can do until a veterinarian gets there. I'm no longer taking my poor old dog here. She means too much to me for this kind of slapdash attention. I get the impression they really dont care much about much unless it's a fluffy rescue kitten to play with in the back of the office. The staff always seems to have time for that. I gotta say the medicines online are FAR LESS EXPENSIVE than the stuff these trade school graduates peddle. Stay far clear of this place. read more

Dr. Serratore always recommends what is best for my pet and doesnt make me feel like crap if i cant afford it. One morning my beloved cat Isabelle couldn't walk. I rushed her over to the Normandy Park Animal Hospital and they were so compassionate. Dr. Serratore and the entire staff worked to bring a pulse back to her back legs. We discussed what treatment was needed and he was so good not to push for many and expensive procedures but discuss with me the options available to hopefully save her life. They tried for 3 days but she couldn't be saved. The last day when we decided to let her go, we scheduled it for the afternoon but the Dr. and the wonderful staff, gave me an exam room to spend quality time with my baby for the last hours of her life. They kept checking on us to see if we needed anything, they took pictures of us and emailed them to me but most important they gave us time alone to say goodbye. They were so kind, compassionate and respectful. Dr. Serratore said that they all had pets they loved and they treat us as they would like to be treated. He said they understand how painful this can be. He did all that was medically possible, they did all they could do to make the last hours as easy as possible. I am so grateful for their expertise and compassion and if I have another pet this is where I can trust it will be given the best of care. read more
