The good: I came on mother's day with a Costco gift card and had an amazing and relaxing time! I only had a 35 minute massage but it was so thorough I felt more relaxed than I have at other massages that were 60-90 minutes. It helped a lot to have had warm tea and gone in a warm jacuzzi before the massage because I felt extra loose/relaxed. I liked the giant "MOM" lettering they had in the waiting area with roses for mother's day and the bonus butterfly gummies they gave as a special treat (similar to Sugarfina's). When you enter the spa on the 2nd floor you feel transported to a totally different zen Southeast Asia boutique. They have fake orchids/bamboo and fans that give it a SE Asia feel. They had lemonade and lemongrass tea that was self-serve. The tea was delicious! The jacuzzi was nice and I had it to myself for half of the time. I didn't use the sauna or steam room but they weren't full either. The robes were heavy and big so it covered you up a lot which made it easier to change in and out of clothes. You can wear your swimwear into the jacuzzi unlike at some of the Korean day spas. You can come 1 hour before your massage or facial service to use the communal jacuzzi/sauna area. My massage therapist was professional, thoughtful, thorough, strong and gave a great hand massage! The bad: Someone's phone alarm was going off for a really long time in the women's locker room. The interesting: The upstairs is normally for men but on mother's day they turned it into the "zen" floor and allowed women (no men that day). read more

I am extremely disappointed with my experience. I scheduled and paid for a facial. I set aside over an hour of my day, arrived for my appointment, and trusted your staff to provide the service that was advertised and purchased. Instead, I spent over an hour having someone touch my face without actually receiving the facial service I paid for. I later learned that the employee either would not or could not perform the service being offered. That is completely unacceptable. While I appreciate the offer of a complimentary facial, that does not change the fact that my time was wasted. A free replacement only provides the service I should have received in the first place. It does not address the inconvenience, frustration, and loss of time caused by this experience. If your business offers a service, your employees should be properly trained, willing, and capable of performing it. Customers should not discover during their appointment that the advertised service is effectively unavailable. I would like a clear explanation of how this happened and what steps are being taken to ensure other customers do not experience the same issue. What occurred was not a minor inconvenience. It was a complete failure to deliver the service that was purchased. I expected far better. I want my facial, that I PAID for. I also want my time back that they wasted. read more

Burke Williams Spa - A Truly Restorative Experience I visited Burke Williams Spa today for my 10 a.m. appointment, and the entire experience was exceptional from start to finish. When I arrived, I was greeted by Alexis, the receptionist. She was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Even though the lobby wasn't busy, she kindly offered to give me a tour. I declined so she could stay at the front, but her willingness to go the extra mile made a strong first impression. Next, I met Guillermo and the young man working alongside him that Father's Day morning. Both were outstanding -- friendly, attentive, and committed to making sure I felt completely comfortable. Then came the highlight of my visit: my massage with Aracely. I've had massages across the country for nearly 20 years, and she is easily in my top two of all time. This has been one of my favorite places for close to ten years. Whenever I'm in LA long enough to spend a couple of hours here, I never hesitate. The first time I came here, when I was gifted a 90 minute deep tissue massage, I was blown away. The massage helped to heal some years-long pain and the rest of the experience was magical. They have: A restful Tahitian themed lobby with a fireplace and teas. A large, hot spa pool ringed with places to get ice-y towelettes with refreshing peppermint oil for your face or neck. A great steam room where you can entirely relax in the thick steam. A dry sauna. Also very nice. And very uniquely, a cool mist room. This is especially refreshing and amazing after sitting in the hot pool. I've never seen a cool mist room before and I love it. I like to picture being in a cloud forest. The locker area is well stocked with all kinds of things, including more of the lovely chilled essential oil towels. read more

Couldn't really take a picture of everything but 10/10 I been to the orange location numerous of times and this is my first time at the Torrance location. First off the entrance is on the second floor and you have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the second floor. Upon checking it the place was amazingly beautiful. They were quick and showed us around the place since it was our first time at this location. I came here with a very close friend of mines as a Mother's Day gift and we both enjoyed it. The women's spa was very very spacious compared to the orange location and I love how warm and welcoming this place is. They have an outdoor patio where you can enjoy a nice breeze every thing was perfect . My massage therapist Melissa did a fantastic job on taking care of me . The only thing I can say that there should be a nice cool breeze from the ac in the massage rooms instead of her having to use a fan in the room. They provide clean robes, rubber sandals in your requested size, plastic bags for wet clothes, and a full set of toiletries, plus hair tools for styling afterward. The spa itself is stunning--spacious showers, a generously sized jacuzzi, a eucalyptus-infused steam room, a peaceful dry sauna, and a quiet lounge area with comfy loungers and privacy dividers. There's also a patio for those who want to step out and use their phone without disrupting others. I really appreciated how the environment encourages minimal talking or speaking in hushed tones. It allowed for deep relaxation, which is exactly what I needed. Iced towels were always stocked (such a treat for the face), and the body towels were fresh and plentiful. They spent all the real estate in the retail area waiting room. All the experiences and amenities are decent. Clothing optional. I'm sure the other locations are better! Do yourself a favor and go get a nice scrub and spend the day at the Korean spa (Riviera). $200 for a 50 min wet room experience. read more

This is my personal experience and everyone has different experiences! When we walked into the place, I looked at the cashier and said, "Hi, how are you?" and mid way through that she said, "Do you have a reservation?" Kind of a bad start. I got the Burke Williams massage for 50 mins. The woman who took me upstairs spoke so softly I was bending down towards her while she was leading me to my room. I could barely hear her. The room was a little cold, and every time she touched me I felt a little shock because her hands were freezing. I told her to go easy on my calves but she went easy almost everywhere on my body except my shoulders and upper back (because by then I told her twice to go harder). I guess I felt a little better after walking out of the room, but I didn't feel like I wanted to fall asleep. My husband who got the same treatment said he wanted them to go harder too and they said it would be a deep tissue massage and he would be charged extra. They also massaged his hands - Mine didn't :(. There is a dry room, cold room, a jacuzzi and a humid/mist room. I really loved the humid/mist room and spent a lot of time in there enjoying the detox. The jacuzzi smelled like chlorine. Not very strong, but there. They provide you with a robe and you can go completely naked, which I did because after being in public bath houses in Japan, it's no big deal. They also give you slippers, but next time I'd bring my own. They have showers, lots of water dispensers every where, some fruit, a hair drying/vanity station and bathrooms. The manager of the Torrance location Rosalyn confirmed that the camera footage showed him defrauding me. They are not answering the phone. This is no way to treat any client, especially not a paying member. I will never ever do business with them again and can't recommend them. Of course the "fine print" gave them the "right" to do this. How a business can take your money and then KEEP IT without delivering any service nor benefit is "criminal". Went here yesterday had a facial, which was outstanding! They have nice facilities to use before and or after your appointment, which I utilized. However, I was a little disappointed with the workers who were maintaining the mens area at the time. They have a bathtub/Jacuzzi area, which I utilized & one of the workers asked me if I had an appointment to use it. I replied I didn't know I needed an appointment. He told me I needed to get out and make an appointment. I was the only patron using this area at the time. Nobody else was there and the workers that were there maintaining the area didn't seem to do much. It wasn't until they left, and Roberto took over and started right away organizing and managing the work load the others left for him, He was very pleasant and personal. This is an amazing place. What a wonderful treat! This is a luxury day spa with several locations in LA and OC, and this location is super easy to access in the shopping center with Panera Bread. You get a beautiful relaxing space inside with multiple hot tub situations, a vast locker room and vanity areas, fresh fruit and tea/water stations, and you book a massage or beauty service to get access to the space, where you can and should hang out for a few hours. It's pricier than going to a Korean spa but more affordable than those $300/hour massage places. It's $160 for most 50-min massages here and even less if you become a monthly member ($115). I did a massage and a spa bath on my recent visit. The massage was professional and excellent (no issues with pressure or pain afterwards) but the spa bath really was the best thing for me...like heaven! As I sank into the prepared tub I felt muscles relax that haven't been released in 20 years. It was unreal. I love how they put a tray of cut fruit, lemonade, cucumbers and their signature tea on the tub so you can enjoy it while you're in the tub for the 20 min session. I wish I could book the tub alone but it's only an add-on to another service (massage). Areas are separated by male/female, so it's good for solo time or with a friend, not ideal for couples who want to hang out together. Absolutely no photos inside (so sadly no pics of this epic bath experience to share) and you're not allowed to use your phone in the spa, which makes it so relaxing bc you can truly unplug! Visited Burke Williams on Jan 4, 2025 with my mom and aunt for my mom's birthday. We booked three 65-minute deep tissue massages and paid about $300 per person including tip as non-members. Check-in was pleasant, but the spa was extremely crowded and overstimulating. Even the staff apologized for how packed it was. Accessing lockers was difficult, and it didn't feel relaxing at all. When I raised the concern to a manager, I was told it wasn't overbooked and advised to come during the week not very helpful given peoples work schedule. My massage room was warm, and a loud portable fan overpowered the music. That said, my therapist Lee was excellent, professional, confident, and the highlight of my visit. Unfortunately, my mom's experience was disappointing. Her therapist seemed inexperienced and lacked confidence, skipped a scalp massage, didn't warm her robe, and failed to focus on the areas requested. At this price point, especially for a birthday, the quality should be consistent. Overall, some positives, but the crowding and uneven service didn't meet expectations for a luxury spa. read more

Staff made timely notification of this and offered to reschedule. However treatments were not affected so I did not reschedule. The tranquil relaxing spa atmosphere which we have always wonderful has transitioned to a space for the girls chats and laughter. Management team has stepped in only to have the behavior return in their absence. THE KICKER is the feeling of the front desk is being inconvenienced if the closing transaction requires a bit of extra effort. Years ago, gift cards were consistently offered in dollar denominations, not for specific services. Gift cards were returned with unused balances. For over a year, I have made several attempts/requests to learn the balance of such gift cards. Initially I was told "we will get back to you"... Months later, another inquiry returned the same results. My third inquiry was met with two voice messages, which I was able to return with voice messages. My final attempt was recently with the same results of "we will get back to you". Recently Burke Williams has offered gift certificate purchases of specific services rather than dollar amounts. Great (I thought). Each of us purchased & enjoyed a discounted package. Upon check out, there was a lot of discussion about the fact that the prices for the services had risen since purchase, so we were responsible for the diffferences. WHAT!!!!!!!!!! After too much discussion, we agreed to greatly reduced additional fee. REALLY. Still loving our treatments, we ventured to again we two gift certificates for services. Again upon closing we met negative and put out feeling as discussion and telephone calls that had to be made to honor one gift card (without gratuity) as purchased. The expected gratuity was based on the purchase price of the services. The gratuity initially added was at the current price which was significantly more. The attitude and experience were unwelcome. During my closing transaction, the person at the desk sighed and also seemed put out. After observing the other transaction I just wanted to get out of there. During my session I enjoyed treatment upgrades and expected those charges to be added. I prepaid my gratuity at the time of the purchase of my gift certificate. After sighs and seemingly endless computer taps, I was charged an oddly low amount. I just wanted to leave this negative energy and figured I would more clearly understand the transaction when I received my emailed receipt. I received the receipt. To my horror, I learned the services, and enhancement were billed. HOWEVER, the gratuities to the clinicians was greatly reduced to $10 for my facial and $15 or my masseur. NOT ACCEPTABLE. So she cheated these talented and gifted clinicians out of their gratuities as a way to make it easier on herself. NOT ACCEPTABLE. I left voice messages with my invoice/reciept number requesting a return call. I have neither seen nor heard. I still hold gift cards for specific dollar amounts as well as services specific services. I love the clinicians and will redeem them for the services I so enjoy. However I am so on the fence about purchasing more. I visited the Torrance Burke Williams location for my birthday splurge. I had been to the Santa Monica and Hollywood locations before. This one exceeded my expectations! My massuse, Olga, was SO kind. I had a rib out and even though the massage didn't get rid of the pain, she did a great job working the sore muscles and she was respectful of my pain tolerance. As for the spa and the other staff, no complaints. Everyone was cleaning constantly, which made me feel like they take a lot of pride in their spa. UPDATED 4-7-2025 I was contacted via phone/email promptly on Monday morning by Rose Hanson, General Manager, at the Torrance location. She expressed her concern regarding my complaints above and said that she was there on the day I had the problem. I find this even worse since I specifically asked for the Manager and what I got was the "Manager in Charge" so clearly the two staff, Layla and Denise, were not forthright. Nonetheless, Rose and I spoke in depth regarding the above situation and were able to come to a mutually beneficial compromise which I am satisfied with. I think that most people do not complain as it is awkward so I hope that this review is a teachable moment for the Managers in Charge at the Torrance location. I have upgraded by review from 1 star to 3 stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW: 4-5-2025 This was my second time going to the Torrance location of Burke Williams. The spa facility is very nice and has a lot to offer. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the "Managers in Charge". If you are unsatisfied with your massage/service and you "STOP" the massage/service mid-way, and you discuss it with the Manager in Charge (LAYLA), and she says she will "take care of it/you" and then asks if you would like to try someone else (no one available so none done)... YOU WILL BE DUPED AND EXPECTED TO PAY THE FULL PRICE OF THE MASSAGE THAT YOU STOPPED. Yes, you can have a sub-par massage that is basically rubbing your body and walking away every 30 seconds to get hot stones, but hot stones are too hot, so she comes back, and then rubs up and down a few times and then goes away again, then comes back, and this goes on and on the first half of the massage where I couldn't take it anymore! I had this EXACT same massage last month and it was fabulous, consistent, smooth, and normal. The masseuse today didn't know what she was doing or the hot stone machine was too hot, I don't know and I stopped it as soon as I realized she didn't know what she was doing. I don't expect to pay for SUBPAR services especially when I STOPPED AND CANCELLED it mid-way because it was SO TERRIBLE. The Manager in Charge, Layla, did not make any notes in my file so when I went to check out, the FULL COST OF $160 for the massage was requested. I asked to speak to Layla but she had gone home (how convenient). The New Manager in Charge, Denise, said they don't comp massages! Denise also said that Layla told her about the terrible experience and they were basically waiting for me to complain and then they would address my concern when I check out. They were hoping that I would just pay the full $160 and not complain. That's completely unprofessional and unethical! Layla/Denise fully expected me to PAY FOR A TERRIBLE MASSAGE THAT I STOPPED AND CANCELLED MID WAY. I had to stand there at checkout and negotiate and finally gave up. She first offered me $25 off (what a joke) then ended up with pay $85 of the $160 which was $85 too much! I was and still am absolutely shocked by their DECEIT! I've been to a few other locations and had exceptional customer service, but my experience here at the Torrance location was unacceptable. I watched an interview with the husband and wife , Burke Williams owners. How they provide exceptional Customer service. The ladies servicing the locker room - great at keeping things stocked, but watching you, to the point of an uncomfortable feeling.. I picked up my phone to text my son "on my way home." The attendant ran up to me shouting, "you are not allowed to use your phone in the spa, etc. I was shocked how loud she was, I apologized and put my phone away. I walked back to my locker, a few feet away to find it locked. I asked the attendant where my things were? She replied, "I threw them away." I asked her why she threw my stuff away? She said nothing. I exited to the lobby, and waited to be helped. There was no one else in the lobby, and I asked if I needed to pay for services (they had my credit card) I sked to confirm that my DIL paid the gratuity, as she adamantly insisted upon. For Customer Service I would give them a zero. Four treatment I would give them a six out of 10. This experience was nothing like what the owners presented the Burke Williams experience to be. Customer Service I've ever experienced! My advice. Spend your money and go elsewhere. read more

Don't advertise services that you don't provide!!!!! Don't cancel appointments a few hours before the appointment!!!!! My daughters and I wanted to have a massage as part of a farewell girls day before I move out of state. My daughters live elsewhere in California so they were to come to the South Bay. There was only one day in February we all would be available. I had to call to make reservations because the website wouldn't let me make online reservations for the type of massages that the website said the Torrance location offers. Unfortunately, the Torrance location had no technicians that could perform the specialty modal massages that are advertised on their website. My daughters and I settled for "relaxation" massages. I had to cancel one massage the day before our appointments because one daughter was getting sick and didn't want to possibly get the technician sick. Bummer that she was going to sit in her car and read while the rest of us got our massages but oh well! The day of our appointments, I got a call about 3 hours before our appointments and am told that my technician is no longer available at that time. I'm welcomed to call and reschedule for a different time several hours later that day or for another day. When I called back, they were unable to accommodate all our massages being rescheduled to a new time. Really?! Not only have we settled for regular "relaxation" massages because you DON'T REALLY offer the massages you advertise AND now, you cannot accommodate concurrent massages at a reasonable time on the same day??!!! We cancelled all remaining massages. By the way, our special day was incredible despite BW's faux pas. 2/22 - BW Torrance manager responded to my review indicating she emailed me to discuss my experience. I received NO email. Crazy thing is that she has access to my email address and phone number so she could connect if she really wants to do so. I'm happy to discuss this in hopes that improvements are made so others don't have such a disappointing experience. read more

I loved this location! We were greeted very warmly, from EVERYONE! I started off with the 35 min Pure Relaxation massage and Sari was Amazing. I just asked her to concentrate on my upper body and she did just that. Next visit I'll try the 55 min massage, as long as I don't feel like I was beat up in the morning. Who doesn't love a spa day!? I know I do! It's always nice to spoil and pamper yourself once in a while. Our bodies deserve it! Hubby and I decided to go to BW together. Unfortunately, we couldn't be together because they do not have unisex areas. I guess the only area where both men and women could be together is in the lounge area. It would be nice if they offered a unisex spa area. However, I still enjoyed some me time. I got a spa facial and my hubby got a massage. I always schedule my appointments in the mornings so I have all day to use the amenities they have to offer. My facial was great and I love the "glow" look my face gave off afterward. When I see that glow, I know the aesthetician did a good job. After my facial, I made my rounds to the nap room, spa room, steam room, lounge area, outside area, etc.. I absolutely get my money's worth when I go. If you need some you time, I recommend Burke Williams. read more

About a month ago, I went to Burke Williams in Torrance. I had such a great experience. London at check in was great!!! She was friendly, attentive, and went out of her way to make sure I received the appropriate service as I had booked for the wrong one. Daysi, my assigned esthetician, was also great! Dasyi is very knowledge, friendly, and made sure I was satisfied with the facial I received. Both London and Daysi wonderful. I had an awesome experience. Yes! I left my watch behind when I visited the Torrance Burke Williams spa on August 28, 2025 So, when I realized that I had left it behind two hours had passed since I was there, but I checked my app and it indicated that it was still at the spa .. I immediately drove back to the spa and someone had found it, and it was in the manager's office! I thank God, for an honest group of people ---not only do they do wonderful massage treatments, especially Arielle, but In addition, the staff is very accommodating and I just want to thank whoever turned it in and acknowledge them for their honesty --and getting my watch back to me, today. read more
