One of my kids broke a 7x5 foot window in our Eichler home on a Saturday (kid was fine, luckily). Did some research and called Burlingame Glass first thing Monday morning. Although they were booked for the day they still sent over a crew to measure the window and assess the job. They even boarded it up and taped everything to prevent more damage. They did this before even submitting a bid. Due to its unusually large size, the glass had to be custom ordered but they were able to get it in two days and promptly installed it the next day. Job took a crew of 3 about two hours. They were very meticulous and careful not to damage the trim. Some water damage and wood rot was discovered in the frame and they fixed it, even though they were under no obligation to do so. Overall, it was a very good experience working with the sales and install team. I highly recommend them! read more

The outer glass on a small double paned window cracked several years ago. At the time, Milgard referred me to a local third-party repair shop since glass breakage wasn't covered. Follow-up calls to Milgard didn't yield any more viable options, so thank goodness for duct tape. Also had an off feeling about the original vendor - never came out to see the broken window, emailed me a quote based on the window ID #, and included a clause that customer was responsible for window measurements. So, I held off on repairing the window until accidentally coming across a review for Burlingame Glass. I'm glad I waited. From beginning to end, it's been an easy process with BG - someone came out to assess the job (for free), I received a follow-up call with a quote as well as to schedule the job after the glass was ordered and had arrived. Their guys arrived 20 minutes early and were finished within 20 minutes, leaving no trace of having been here (both glass panes replaced). Great communication throughout the entire job. The owner came over to look at our two shower doors that we felt needed repairs; 1) a full length, glass, shower door on a hinge that was grating against the bottom tile of the shower and needed a new washer and 2) a swinging, 2-part shower door on specially built, round, pivoting hinges created by an engineer whose company was no longer in business. The hinge bracket connected to the wall was loose, allowing the round, pivoting hinge and glass piece to rise up too far and risk falling off of its platform. The owner of Burlingame Glass was quick to figure out the issue in each bathroom. He looked at the first shower door and told us who built the glass door so that we could contact the company to obtain new washers that my hubby could put in. For the swinging shower doors in the master bathroom, he noted correctly that, if we drilled extra holes with 1/4 inch screws through the lower half of the hinge into the shower tile/wood behind, it would strengthen the door and there would no longer be any play to allow the glass to lift up. We had incorrectly thought the problem was with the round, pivoting hinge. There was no charge for the visit. The owner was a straight shooter and the advice was free. We will use Burlingame Glass for any bathroom rebuilds in the future and recommend them to our family and friends. If you are looking for an honest, fair Company, (rare in this day and age) this is the place to go. read more

I used this place to do my 2 bathrooms and it looks great. The owner was very helpful and gave me lots of ideas on how the mirror mounts. When they came to install, it is efficient and fast. I took one star away because they are still not email or tech centric, and it makes communicating a little more complicated. Talk about handling a tough job with skill and precision! I own an L-shaped glass office desk that needed to fit into an unusual office. Specifically, my new corner measured out at a wider-than-usual angle. (111 degrees, instead of 90 degrees, if you're keeping score.) That meant I needed a custom-cut junction piece, with very tight tolerances on the angles and sizing. It was also essential to match the original glass finish, color, etc. Not only did the Burlingame Glass crew get the measurements and match exactly right ... they also were friendly and professional at all stages of the process. The original estimate was fair and well-explained; the final installation was meticulously executed, with lots of step-by-step adjustments to get everything lined up as well as possible. Great work. Burlingame Glass just made my guest bathroom more beautiful and functionable. It is a very small bath, so Mike recommended a shower screen instead of the traditional shower doors. It's really not a screen, but a moving glass door that takes up about 3/4 of the bath. Just great for a guest bathroom! I've used it and didn't get any water outside of the bathtub. I also have no room for a towel bar and the bathroom has no shelving so he put in 2 matching glass shelves. It looks wonderful. I Iwould use them again! (will try to post a picture) read more

I had the opposite experience with Burligame Glass (BG) than I'm used to with most businesses: the down-sell. I had asked them to come over to give me an estimate for a new shower door as mine was not working and I could not for the life of me figure out how to get the doors off the rail. When the BG tech came over, he quickly showed me how to get the doors off the rail, and where to buy new wheels. So, rather than a new door, I went to the hardware store, spent less than ten bucks and feel like I have a new door! Thanks BG! This company is disappointing and deceptive. I tried to schedule this job since 11/1/20, a simple installation of two store front windows, that Mike the owner/estimator said would be no problem. I was in constant communication with them for scheduling. At the last minute they opted to delay the project by their own poor scheduling to the point that I had to get Roxy Glass in Newark to do the job. My conclusion is Burlingame Glass is a small time outfit and if you need a broken window or shower door in your home repaired, they may, possibly, fit you in, but don't bet on it. Lots of promises but no completion. Anyways FYI, just get on the internet and find someone else. Two thumbs up. They guarantee their work for a year. After our shower door was installed, we realized that the angle of the shower was causing water to leak. They came back at no charge to fix it. (The other four showers that they installed were perfect. ) In addition, they custom cut a wall mirror for me to replace a broken one - installed in the frame the very same day! We recently used Burlingame Glass to do all the bathroom glass work on our remodel. They did a good job and were good about correcting mistakes that they made like mismatching the fittings with the shower/drain finishes and mismatched sizes for a mirror. So for that part of the work 4 stars. However, we also installed a set of bevelled oval shaped mirrors, the kind that I was able to find framed at Lowes for around $80-120 and on higher end internet sites for at most $150-$200. Burlingame Glass charged us over $400 for one and $350 for the others claiming that they are made in Oregon and therefore justified the prices. While we did sign off on the purchase in the rush of completing the job, I came away with the feeling that we were taken advantage of. Its not a good feeling to work with a vendor where you feel you have to watch your back. Caveat Emptor. read more

We bought a house last summer, and 5 out of 6 tilted windows in our house were not working properly. I waited for a year to call around "window" shops for fix or replacement. I called around bunch of window shops, but none of them provide "repair" job. One shop recommended "Burlingame Glass", so I called. I am sure glad I did. Mike came over this morning. He came in and took close look on all probramatic windows. He spend good 5 to 10 minutes on each window, and fixed all issues. Granted, it was easy (for him) fix, but I was amazed that he actually spend his time on fixing my window without any charge. (This was a free estimate visit.) He could have easily said "Oh, you'd need to replace windows for $500 each." Although I didn't give him any business this time, I'd be sure to keep his business card and call him if/when I need his help! I had a great experience with this place. I called them up to get an estimate because I needed 3 large, specific-sized glass shelves, and they told me they would give me a call in 2 or 3 days when it was ready. Sure enough, they called in 3 days, I went to pick it up, and the guy carried the shelves to my car and put them in my trunk. When I got home, I discovered that my measurements were slightly off (the space is lopsided), so I took them back and asked if they could file off a 1/4 inch. No problem - they were finished that afternoon, and they didn't even charge me extra for my own mistake. They were all very nice and curteous. They have a very plain, tell-it-like-it-is type demeanor on the phone, but they are all super nice and they got the job done (twice!) perfectly. read more

And I am not even a customer. ok, here's how - A delivery truck delivering orders to Burlingame Glass hit my parked car in front of their store. I was away at that time. Sue at the store saw the accident happen as the truck pulled into their driveway. She made sure the driver acknowledge what had happened, and held him accountable for the accident, despite the driver claiming otherwise. She left me a note on my car while the driver went his own way. It gets better. When the drivers' company and their insurance company tried to deny their fault despite direct eye-witness account, she went the extra mile and sent emails, made phone calls on my behalf to get the right thing done. She was even willing to go as far as stopping to do business with this sub-contractor because their behavioral standards don't match up to hers. I am not even a customer.
