It's only natural I'd interact with any and all rental car agencies in the Bay Area. Over the years I've worked with Enterprise on both the corporate and branch levels. It's a family owned business and it's a people business long before the subject of the cars comes up. They do business ethically. They treat people courteously. Both clients AND business partners. They do a phenomenal job of communication and they excel at setting expectations and then exceeding them! It's a very hard job. The branches are used to promote staff from within which can lead to a challenge in turnover as Enterprise tends to hire young , intelligent "go getters". This can mean building a relationship only to see it change when a new eager young face comes in. That has been a 20 plus year observation of mine. I build and grow a relationship with an office full of happy young folks that help me operate and function only to watch them move on in their lives. This leads me to the reason for this specific review. That reason is Miss Helen at the San Bruno Branch. I remember the standard Enterprise changing of the guard ceremony where I met Miss Helen. Enterprise has a standard procedure. Departing manager comes and brings the fresh new manager for a meet n greet. This sounds simple. Sounds like common sense. Sounds "like a good idea .." and it is. But I'll tell you. No other company consistently does anything like this. So anyway. Miss Helen was full of enthusiasm and had a genuine demeanor about her as she committed to a fruitful and pleasant working relationship with me and my clients. I've had probably 20 of these meet ups over the years and knew to expect a learning curve. But I got the feeling it'd go well. And it has. Miss Helen will always take my calls and always address my clients concerns or needs as if she was helping her own family. As do all of her staff. It's clear to me that her management style is both effective and infectious. She proves an age old business adage I live by. "You can light a fire under someone and you may get results; light that fire IN THEM and you will get results !" I see it in the tone and feel of the current San Bruno Branch and it's something that's really rad to see in the current state of the world. A mixed bag of young people all working hard to better themselves and their branch while delivering their company promise of "We'll pick you up!" With a smile and some genuine effort and sincerity. In my humble (albeit wordy ) opinion. Miss Helen is an asset that built a team capable of handling anything. Give em a crack at global warming ! Let em see if they can fix the hole in the ozone layer. I personally think they're unstoppable !

AVOID THIS PLACE. The owner is shady and uses some scammy business practices…read more We were in a bit of a bind as we didn't realize the major car rental companies don't rent out cars without a major credit card. The employee at Fox said he could find us a deal at Airport Rent A Car, a company I had never heard of before (now I understand it is because it is not a reputable car rental company), and said the price of the reservation would be $250 for 3 days. It was a bit more than they were asking for at Fox, but we needed a car so we agreed and waited for the "shuttle" to their office. Ten minutes later the "shuttle" arrives, which is just a man in an unmarked white sedan who is going to drive us across the freeway through San Bruno to this office, which is not near the airport. As we are driving, our driver asks us some questions about our trip and where we are going, beginning by saying they will not rent us the car if we are going to Burning Man. Okay... given that we were already in the car and moving, maybe that would have been something to ask about sooner. But we were in fact NOT going to Burning Man, we were planning to visit family in LA. The driver continues to text the business owner, Fred, (while driving) and lets us know that the price of our reservation has actually just changed! The driver hands me his cell phone and tells me to speak with his boss, Fred. Uh... okay. Fred lets me know that now the price is $490 for 3 days, not the $250 we previously agreed to. I tell him that we are not paying that amount because it's not what we agreed to, and that we are going to find another company to work with. Fred has the nerve to be rude, telling us that we better do that, as if WE are the scammers. Luckily the driver drops us back off at Fox so we can assess the other options. Overall, this was a complete waste of (everyone's) time and just not the way to conduct business. I'm not sure what the need is to rip someone off when they are already on their way to give you their business. Oh, and Turo.com will rent to people paying with debit, so just save yourself the hassle of dealing with this weird guy.

Rented a car in Las Vegas. Had a dog on floor of front seat, so that one area had dog hair, otherwise car was clean. I dropped it off at a hotel location, the cleaning guy had nothing but a bucket of water and some rags, very unprofessional. Avis charged me $300 to clean the car, it could have been done in 10 minutes with a vacuum, which they should have, but didn't. IMO, the Avis business model is to rent to you once for a low price, over-charge and under-deliver on service, and not expect you to rent again. Don't fall for it the first time!

Their customer service (via phone) couldn't justify some of the fees (eg $16 of "airport transport") and said they were from Booking.com. 2) The rental location is OFF the airport. You'll have to wait for up to 15 minutes for the shuttle to get there. This means you'll queue up with a bunch of other people (To be honest, they moved pretty fast). They charge $25 if you want to be taken back to the terminal directly when you drop the car. 3) I bought a tank of gas in advance, and I was told that they would "refund up to half tank of unused gas". But I was told (when I returned) they meant they refund half a tank if you return more than half. 4) People are reporting high late fees. I actually returned early, and I still don't know why the extra $170. 5) They will try to sell you a $200 weekly plan for tolls, but when I checked online, it looks like you can just pay the tolls on the web with the plate. I didn't try it, so I can't confirm, but now you know. On the bright side, the car was OK, even if a little scuffed and stained, and the return was very quick.

Wife and I were traveling and rather than both of us doing the bag-drag through the airport and on the train, we decided to have her stay with the bags in baggage claim and I would do the long terminal walk and train routine. Arriving at the mob scene at the multi-floored car rental center, I followed the signs to Hertz for people like me that had reservations. Down a few floors and into the massive parking lot. A Hertz fellow made eye contact with me, asked if I had a reservation and motioned me to join him in is tiny office area. We were done in less than five minutes and he had someone walk me over to where my car was located. I could not believe it, driving out and picking my wife up in baggage claim as if she had just arrived. What a wonderful experience and we thank Hertz for being so attentive and willing to get out there to help anyone. Recommend that you travelers coming into airports and needing a rental car to follow our lead: make a reservation, leave someone with the bags at baggage claim, get your rental car and return to rejoin your luggage and flying party. And you would be wise to go with Hertz, which I have had the great experience I just shared. Thanks, Hertz.

Once through the line we got our assigned parking space, headed for the garage to pick up our car. With the map at the entrance it was easy to find the spot our Camry was in. It was a quick load in, the keys were already in the car and away we went. Returning the car was as easy as driving back into the garage, into the return lane, we parked, gave the keys to the attendant, took our things and were on our way. The experience was good, though pricing was bit high from past rental experiences. I'm sure they jack the rates up for holiday travel though.
