Large location with lots of floors. I do prefer this location more than Union Square's in terms of crowds and lighting, but did knock off stars for the fitting room and cashier situation. The situation to enter is also quite strange. Security stands there and ropes off this area that we have to stand in. I'm not sure what they're monitoring but the guard checks something and then opens the ropes to let you in. The only fitting room available is on the ground floor and the women's clothes/dresses I was looking at was all the way on the top most floor. This made getting between floors time consuming and when you're carrying a lot of clothes in your arms, it's tiring to navigate and to go up and down. The store feels empty at first glance but then when you make your way to check out, there's a line of like 20 people and 2 cashiers working, even though they area has about 8-10 registers. The wait can get quite long. I was in a hurry once and after finding what I needed, I just couldn't wait the long line to purchase my items and just had to abandon them to make my next appointment. read more

I'm not sure about negative reviews...... this location is much better than Union Sq :) Store is big enough, 4-5 cashiers open till 10:30pm. Good news is line moves pretty quickly than expected. (It was about 10-15min!) Shopping carts are always available and holiday seasons in Dec is open till 10:30pm! Right Infront of the subway and bus sta at 23rd st. Incredibly long checkout lines pretty much sums up the shopping experience at Burlington Coat Factory on 6th Ave. The selection and pricing have always been good throughout the years, and that certainly remains true today. What is bothersome is the lack of employees, broken escalators, and long checkout times. Without exaggeration you should anticipate a minimum of 30 minutes waiting on line, with it likely being more. It's a good place to get basic things, but it's just not worth the time it takes to pay and finally get out. read more

I stopped in while visiting NYC to pick up a couple articles of clothing due to some weather I didn't anticipate while packing. The store is pretty run down and dirty in some places -- including stains on some of the clothes and urine in the elevator. The plus size selection was super limited despite the store being three stories. Checkout was what everyone else has described it as: the store felt empty, but the line was about 20 people long. I have a love hate relationship with Burlington. They're great for unique and inexpensive gifts. Nice packaged lotions, perfumes, makeup, knickknacks. I haven't ever spent enough time scoping out the female clothing section. I have come in numerous times for odds and ends: tights, socks, quick shoe replacement. They are great for having some decent items for super cheap. But then they also have some super tacky items that you have to steer away from. Occasionally I'm disappointed. Like they don't sell any men's boxers here. That's kind of weird to me. Just some tight ass skivvies. Whatever floats your boat I guess. And for myself personally it's very hit and miss especially recently with trying to find tights or nylons. I feel like they will have them in stock again at the most inopportune time like end of winter. But as of now there is nothing. Nothing but way too many juicy purses. I also tried to find some new winter boots because I didn't want to spend $200. But unfortunately the selection was really bad the past few weeks. The line at the register can get intense. Be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes on line. They sometimes also have so many registers but will only have about a handful of them open which again, makes the line barely move. read more

Clearly, Burlington Coat Factory has little regard for and nothing but contempt for their customers. This explains the poor 2.5 rating. Today, I waited over 45 minutes to pay for my purchases in mid-morning; there were about 60 people on line and 5 cashiers. Most of the cashiers were delayed and on the phone or waiting for price checks. I used to shop here years ago but have not set foot in the store for a long time - I remembered why today, it's the long wait to pay, it has been like this for years as you can see from the comments from many reviewers. They have more security people than they have cashiers. Probably people wouldn't shoplift as much if they could pay in a reasonable amount of time - I myself was considering stealing my goods. The area around and behind the registers is a disgusting mess, piles and piles of items to be returned to their respective departments That said, they did have a decent selection of merchandise at good prices. BUT - It is not worth the wait. I recommend that you shop elsewhere... Whoever owns this chain should be very, very ashamed of themselves! And clearly their sales would be way higher if people could pay in a reasonable amount of time! And Jack Frost doing disrespectful things to my newly unprotected areas. So I call the nearest BCF and speak to a manager; Samantha. Explaining my rather unique situation, she assures me that I can be helped and tells me to come to the store. So I make my way downtown [don't worry, I won't break into another 'Thousand Miles reference] and speak to Melissa, another manager. After unsuccessfully trying to find my transaction via credit card, the manager still tried to help me, trying to run any numbers they could find in the tags of the jacket. Fortunately, I gave the cashier my phone number during the original transaction and they were able tto pull up my receipt to refund me so I could apply the funds towards a new jacket.  I really like this particular jacket so I run upstairs frantically searching the racks for it.  You know when you buy something a certain color and you suddenly see that color EVERYWHERE?!?  Well...That happened to me!  EVERY COAT WAS GRAY!!! EVERY... DANG... COAT... for racks and racks and racks..... GRAY! But lucky me.... I FOUND THE JACKET! So now I can  Make my way uptown With my coat  And it keeps me toasty [Okay I'm sorry. I couldn't resist] All in all I was so happy and relieved I wouldn't be turned out into the New York Winter without a coat I bought a second one. I am so happy BCF was able to help me. The supervisor who said she resembles Judi Dench was so personable & talked me into a Burlington credit card. There was a problem with the register so she could not give me my 10% off. She said, 'Next time come find me!' I spent $8.99 This was the end of April. I receive a letter saying to activate a card. But there is no card. I called. They set another one. A week later I received another card. TWO credit cards! Bad vibes. I called & canceled both of them & paid the $8.99 with my debit card on 5/3. TODAY 5/22, I receive a bill for $8.99 saying I HAVE to pay by 5/18. OMG!! read more

I've been in line for 30mins already and I'm still not at the front. Thankfully a staff member brought me a cart for my items otherwise my arms would've fallen off by now. This is ridiculous and they need to aggressively hire more staff or only have all staff on one floor with all registers open. On the positive side I have purchased several excellent priced designer name coats and other items here within the last few weeks. This store is horrendous. Management should be embarrassed at the state of this location. The only reason I come in here is because they carry a wonderful rose shampoo that I love, but today decided to check out pants because I'm in need of a white pair of summer jeans. Wound up browsing through makeup, women's, lingerie, and Activewear. First of all, makeup is always a mess. Things just thrown on shelves, opened, eyeshadow and blush broken in their pans. Nothing on the racks were organized correctly. Everytime I thought I found something based on the size on the hanger, I would look at the it and it was always wrong. I managed to find a few things to try on, walked to the ladies changing room and an employee just pointed to the ceiling. It was closed off and the ceiling was leaking. Great. Women's changing room is currently on the second floor and must share with the men. This made the line pretty long. Finally made it in and this is when I started taking pictures. I wish I had taken pictures of the other stuff I mentioned but this is where I started getting pretty horrified. PINS. Dozens and dozens of metal pins all over the floor of the dressing room. When you need to try on pants, what happens? You take your shoes off and wind up barefoot or in stockings with your feet on the floor. I'm sorry, but I don't think anyone is in the mood for sepsis or tetanus, so maybe clean that up! Is this even for real!? Not only that but there was only one tiny seat, and NO hooks to hang articles of clothing, so everything I was trying on wound up on the floor mixed in with all the metal pins. They obviously never clean the dressing rooms either as evidenced by the inch thick layer of dust. Ugh. This was a nightmare and I'd never subject myself to these conditions ever again. This is what I get for cheating on TJMaxx and Marshalls. Go there, and stay away from this hovel! Rose shampoo. In and out. Yuck. read more

This store is a mess. Much of this is due to the clientele who just throw things wherever they feel, but a lot has to do with the fact that there is no one on the floor to help you. Finding something is difficult as clothing is hung on the wrong racks. The Big & Tall Men's area is a disgusting mess. Also, they don't have much for Big & Tall. And, they have no dressing rooms available!! Let me repeat that - NO DRESSING ROOMS! Lots of odd brand clothes and no place to try them on. People were oin the back corner of the store just stripping down to their underp[ants in order to see if something fits. I used to shop here often but now they just don't care. I understand this is a discount store, but they should still take some pride in the presentation of the store and overall cleanliness. Last week, I came here to see what toys they had available. I know it's the Christmas season and everything is haywire with late shoppers, like myself. However, I have been here in the past on a few occasions and it was not neat then either. I spent about 45 minutes looking through the few aisles they had designated for toys and many of the boxes were smashed, had open boxes, damaged, or returned merchandise, that had tape on it. C'mon, I do not believe that is acceptable. The lines were incredibly long and I spent over 30 minutes waiting for a cashier, but on a positive note: They had a cashier on every line, they have an automated system that illuminates when it's your turn and the cashier was very friendly and helpful once I got up there. Overall, I will return to the store potentially in the future, but not for toys, just socks, items for the house and sports equipment like I've done in the past. read more

I went into a store on grainbills payne avenue. Wanted to go to the bathroom, the toilet is locked, asked for the code to the door, with a sullen face said that the toilet is for employees only. I wonder if that's true or not. If the employees do not open the toilets because they do not want to clean them, then your store chain a big disadvantage. Long before the Covid-19 pandemic, and the recent Economic downfall, Burlington was the best place to buy a winter jacket because this company provided multiple options, and a line of same designs in different sizes. It's now winter of 2022 and I have searched in all Burlington stores from each borough to discover they have only 40% items for men, 60% for women. I asked a sales clerk about the lack of winter coats for men and she agreed because she wanted to find coats for her brothers with no avail. Another manager from Brooklyn had informed me that supplies are limited due to the trading embargo issues from the beginning of January, and lack of merchandise from companies since the Covid-19 situation. I can't even deal with how clothing are mismatched, and tossed about.... This department store looks like one of those grab bag shops. Please Make Burlington Great Again! read more

When I asked a cashier, she told me curtly the person who could help was downstairs acting as a cashier. Giving up, I looked around on my own, & couldn't find any mirrors. I love the selection here! You'll always find something (for you, the home, or baby). I think they could up their selection for a few sections, but for the most part, the big staples are covered with lots of options and things are really well categorized for a discount store with a lot of square footage. The line can get SUPER long at peak hours (lunch breaks, etc), so plan accordingly and go early, late, or in off-hours. read more

The selections have sunk to an all time LOW. Burlington use to have STYLISH clothes, shoes, and coats. When I go in there now, I begin to wonder if I drifted into a thrift store. Their stores are kept very dirty and sloppy. The staff acts like you asked them to pull your tooth, when you're merely just asking them to do their job and to assist you. Going into the housewares department, a majority of the things are broken or dirty. The prices have also gone up disgustingly, on items that you know as a shopper is way over the top. I hope they get their act together, because there are so many people, especially in these very hard economic times, that don't want to see this store closed. read more

After reading some unfavorable reviews some time ago, I walked into this location and was quite pleased. They were very well stocked (almost every display plentiful) and the merchandise was well organized overall. Some products, such as women's coats are frustratingly kept hanging in long rows and you can't see the coats unless you rummage through them at length. Most of the products were displayed in a more feasible manner. I will definitely be back for Christmas shopping! read more

This Burlington Store has improved. The isles are not as cramped. I felt I was able to move around with more ease. Sales staff did not know where to find the stockings and tights section. When someone pointed us in the direction we were disappointed to find they really didn't have any tights. Very few stockings either. We decided the Burlington Upper East Side near COSTCO is much better. This location gets three Stars for having lots of sales help and for cleaning up the racks so shopping is pleasant! You can get some good name brands for crazy cheap! Like a nice designer pair of pants that was 80 bucks is now 15 bucks! Cant go wrong but you have to hunt for it. Expect to be waiting in line at least 20 minutes as well! Other than that, you can score some good stuff here! read more
