I recently visited this Gap location and unfortunately had a pretty disappointing experience. I was actively shopping and needed some assistance with sizing, so I approached an associate for help. After asking my question, I was met with a lack of engagement and didn't receive the support I was hoping for. It felt like I was more of an inconvenience than a customer, which was surprising given the brand's usual reputation. I understand stores can get busy, but basic customer service and acknowledgment go a long way. A simple effort to assist or even point me in the right direction would have made a big difference. Hubby always forgets some toiletry item when we travel so imagine my surprise when he disclosed he had forgotten his boxer shorts this time. On the hunt we went. We found a Gap in Midtown that had them and they were actually on sale and affordable. I want to shout out the employees here who remained poised and professional when a tourist came in with a little purse pooch. The little dog proceeded to run around the store while the woman requested a restroom then began yelling "emergency" in broken English. The pooch running, the tourist yelling, bags and items abandoned on the floor by the woman having a bathroom emergency....chaos ensued. The employee at the register responded quickly and with grace. Gap - Women's Clothing Near Me - New York, New York

They should rename this store "Gap Women" because three quarters or more of their stock is geared to young women. Their menswear is pretty limited to a small corner of the main floor and I believe the lower floor carries some items for guys, too. The staff itself is nice, not pushy but available if you need help, and when I lost a tote bag there years ago I called that evening, someone had found and turned it in, and I retrieved it the next day. Bottom line is, if you're a female, this is a nice place to shop. If you're a guy, you could check it out but don't expect much in the choice of clothing. read more

A rather large Gap store in probably one of the most busiest area on earth-Time Square. The staff was very helpful in trying to find different sizes. The store has two floors with sections for women, men and children. They have some pretty good deals if you are willing to look for them. read more

Their clothes are universal and work on all occasions. I love that they've embraced STRETCH! Everything should have stretch in it because it doesn't feel like a harsh, strict fabric. It is very comfortable and easy to move around in. My only complaint about this location are the 5 registers, but there are never 5 people ringing those registers. It is always 1 or 2 cashiers with a long line going. Where is the manager on duty that should be managing? My time is precious and that long line isn't talking to me. read more

Gap at 42nd Street and Third Avenue has it all. You have Men's, Women's, Baby, Teens, GapKids and GapBody. I love this store. It's spacious, clean and well stocked. It's convenient when I'm hanging around Grand Central shopping. I can take the subway to get there on bad weather days. I'm not going to go on and on about my love for their jeans. I don't wear any other brands. I love the cotton t-shirts both short and long sleeve. The clothes last a long time. I've been wearing some of my jeans for years. The same for the t-shirts. They keep their shape wash after wash. As usual I don't have a problem with customer service. I know what I want so I go in and get it. Please shop the Gap Stores. I don't want them to close! They're convenient and never busy after work -- so I've stopped in multiple times. No one ever asks if I need help, but it's not poorly organized even though they don't always have what I am looking for from their online site. The real annoyance is check out -- 3 separate times their Apple Pay reader declined me (not an issue elsewhere), and twice the salesperson has indicated they've had regular problems. Today, the salesperson acted like I was the one with insufficient funds or who knows what despite my saying this is a regular issue. I had to use another payment method and I walked out quite annoyed. The reader should be fixed and the salesperson should be trained. read more

The worst GAP in NYC! Tried to return an item I purchased online, and they tried to give me a lower price for it even though my receipt showed what I paid for the item. What crooks! Absolutely nasty staff and told me to reach out to customer service. It was definitely a racist experience on my part. I sent a complaint to the Gap corporate office about this store. Gap has been suffering from a serious "away with corporate greed" backlash for the past, I don't know, 15 or so years. I don't like the idea of corporate greed either, but that's not going to stop me from going to Starbuck's, McDonald's, or the Gap, or anything, for that matter. Chains will keep on growing and sprouting up everywhere no matter what, and if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. And I just have to give thanks. This particular Gap store has saved my ass many a time. It's proximity to my place of business means that if I need to buy a cute new dress for an impromptu cocktail thing, I'm most probably going to find it at the Gap for less than the $100 or so Banana Republic would charge me. If I want to make an equally impromptu wardrobe switch, forget to wear a camisole underneath something that turns out to be too revealing for the office, or rip a hole in my tights, I just go to the Gap. Yeah, I said it. I LIKE the Gap. I think, if you play your cards right and make some solid choices, you can look quite stylin in Gap clothes. And I bet that a lot of skinny jeans that people want to pass off as J Brand or something are from the Gap. Come on, admit it. 3.5 stars read more

Great location, friendly staff, not very tidy though. I've been to this Gap twice, simply due to the awesome sauce deals they currently are having. I mean-- you seriously can't beat 2 pairs of jeans for $27! I totally freaked out with excitement, was already running late to my train so I busted out after that beautiful exchange the sales clerk and I had. It was the best feeling to swipe my credit card knowing I got 2 pairs of jeans for not even the price of one full price pair. Cleanliness, wasn't on point, but totally understand why- it's the holidays and the sales are freaking amazing and it would take too much time to make sure everything is neat every time someone picks up a short and not want it any longer. the gap on 3rd ave and the corner of busy 42nd st is worth a visit when threads are on sale and there always seems to have sales going . i always considered the clothing at the gap as boring and bland designed for the yuppies , nerds and homely types but sometimes a shirt or jacket catches my fancy and its a done deal .store is fairly spacious but looks semi empty at times during my occasion visits especially during store wide discount sales . the staff are helpful most of the time but you do have the ones who really dont care at all. i did find a jacket on sale for 60 bucks that i liked but as always its not my size but what the heck i will wait on the long line as only one cashier is open and seal the deal. overall i am giving 3 stars on my yelp meter . read more

I like the Gap because they always have the essentials (undershirts, khakis, dress shirts, and nice jackets). It's important to keep in mind that not all stores are the same size, so the selection will vary from location to location. It's no surprise that this particular location is light on their selection. I have such a difficult time finding the things I need. I usually end up going online to get what i need because there is more variety. The store is only so big, so they can't exactly throw every design and style from each season in the store. However, I also have a sinking feeling there's tons of stuff in the stock room that their staff isn't putting out on the floor out of sheer laziness. The bad part is, the cashiers here are majorly slow. It's always root canal without anesthesia whenever I find something to buy and then see the ridiculously long line. Almost all of their cashiers just don't have a sense of urgency at all. I'd recommend other Gap stores or just Gap.com to get what you need. read more

This is one of the cleaner Gap location I have shopped in. I come in here at least once a week and I have never seen a mess or a pile of clothes that were not folded neatly. They also maintain their inventory pretty well. The employees have never pestered me with offers to help and I appreciate that. The store is very spacious, I can actually shop without feeling cramped. Also, it does not get too crowded in this location. Same apparels as in other Gap stores but a much better experience than most other locations. read more

I went to this Gap on August 25th 2021 around 730pm. There were two employees behind the register and I was next online. When one of the cashiers was free, instead of calling me over he decided to help a customer who clearly wasn't on the line. In fact he went out of his way to explain to the white customer that she wasn't on the line and that I was next, but that he would still help her first because I could wait for the next cashier to open up. And of course she was making returns and didn't have her receipt...so I was already bracing myself to wait a few minutes. The other cashier was ringing up a customer with a large purchase AND she was applying for a Gap card. So after waiting around for 10 minutes I decided to place the merchandise on a table and left the store. I'm usually not the type of person to see racism in every interaction, but the other customer was white, the cashier was white...and I am not white. read more

tzinnius hoes ain't gotz to worry about showin off 'dem elbows..... i think this store is the mecca for religious girls who want to dress modestly without looking too FRUMpy. GAP had so many knee length skirt options that i had to take advantage of and lots of great basic tees. AND... downstairs is kid gap which one should not ignore because i got some leggings from downstairs that are SUPER cute and way cheaper than the ones for the big kids upstairs. AND they have a public bathroom. zing! read more

They never have the stuff they show on the window and if you ask about it, it's a 20 minute wait to tell you that they don't have it in stock in this store. Sounds like deceiving advertising practices since this is the 3rd time that it has happened to me. Plus, they put such a show to tell you they don't have it, you have to talk to 3 employees to get an answer, all of them acting surprised that they don't have it. read more

Debbie was amazing! I don't like shopping and I walked in there hesitant about having to buy jeans. She helped me from the moment I walked in and all throughout the trying-on process.
