    The world's best cinnamon roll!

We had a sandwich that was nothing special. The roast beef on the sandwich was DRY. But I imagine if it was home smoked that's the way it comes out. I gave the four stars because the cinnamon rolls are THE best cinnamon rolls I've ever had!! Service was good and the place was neat.

I got a pulled pork sandwich and it was on a cold bun! Not much meat and sauce! Meat counter looks disgusting, I should have taken it has a sign!

So good I had to go back before leaving town

Purchased some awful beef jerky from Burl's today. It tasted like beef boiled in salt water with liquid smoke. It was also extremely tough.

Best jerky in the nation. A very cool place to stop in at. Has a lot of character and old time feel.

Honestly, that smell alone had us excited to eat. The setup here is casual and easy. You order at the counter, grab a table, and they give you a number, though a lot of the food was ready so quickly that several items were handed to us almost immediately after ordering. Our group shared all kinds of things so we got to try a little bit of everything. My daughter and I split a loaded baked potato topped with pulled pork and added several sides to the table because honestly...we wanted to try it all. The fried okra was especially delicious, but truly everything we had was good. Around the table: * My dad ordered the nachos * My mom got a sweet potato along with brisket-stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon (which she absolutely loved) * We sampled sides galore and nobody left hungry The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and service was FAST without making the experience feel rushed. This felt like exactly what good Southern BBQ should be -- flavorful, generous portions, no unnecessary fuss, and the kind of meal that makes everyone at the table happy after a long day out exploring.

There is ample…read moreparking outside, the building looks new and attractive with a wall of cut logs to the left of the entrance. The smoke aroma hits you before you open the door which is nearly always a good sign. Both of us decided on their Special Op's sandwich, which comes with a Brisket, Pulled Pork, a choice of sausage (jalapeño pineapple or four cheese), a rib and a side of beans. We each ordered a side of potato salad and we split an order of Brisket Twisters which are jalapeños stuffed with brisket and cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. Neither of us finished and both of us had to get a to-go box. Overall everything was really good. Everything was fresh, the hot foods were hot, not warm or dried out, from sitting around in a warming cabinet, for hours, and the potato salad was well chilled, not room temperature. It is things like this that I notice, and make a difference. The only thing I was not keen on was the rib. It was extremely soft almost mushy and literally falling of the bone. I know thats how many people like their ribs. I just prefer my ribs to be a little less well done and have a bit of a pull to the meat to get it off the bone, so I am not going to ding them for that. The counter where you order and get your meal is clean, bright and cheerful, the staff are all really pleasant, friendly and helpful. The dining room is fairly large and roomy, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy your food. Overall, a really good dining experience and we both agreed we would dine there again.

So, it is NOT WISE to alienate customers that have frequented your restaurant for the last 5 years! Literally, from the day you opened! :( Welp ... here we are again ordering (to go) from what was my favorite BBQ place in my hometown and I'm sad to say ...I'm so disappointed I won't be going back absent of an apology!! :( I ordered 1/2 lb. of moist brisket & a baked potato. I ate the brisket and enjoyed it ... and then I cut into the potato to find a sweet potato. (I don't eat them because I just don't like 'em). So, I called the restaurant to let them know that I ordered a baked potato and was given a sweet potato. She looked up the order and said, "You ordered a baked sweet potato" ... to which I responded, "I don't know why I would order a sweet potato because I don't eat them". That was the point she said, "If you will bring back the sweet potato back to us... we will exchange it for a baked potato". LOL! So, I giggled and asked ... you want your potato back? To which she replied, "Yes!" So, while I was asking my husband if he felt like taking the sweet potato back to the restaurant ... this lady hung up the phone on me! FOR WHAT?? She didn't even wait to find out if we were going to make the exchange. Now, I can concede that I may have made a mistake ordering ... I don't think I did... but, it certainly is possible. However, I've been going to this restaurant for 5 YEARS ... literally since the day they opened!! So, I didn't think asking to have a baked potato because I don't eat sweet potatoes was THAT BIG of an ask! (The price of which is about $4.00: $3.39+tx). Even if I ordered it by mistake, I DON'T EAT THEM ... I just wanted a whole meal for the $25.00 I paid. So, I sent my husband back to the restaurant to make the exchange. When he returned, he described the most egregious interaction I've ever heard which included the cashier telling him: This was His Wife's fault and this would only be a 1 time exchange. They aren't happy about making this exchange because they're losing money. So, we should'n't ever expect that again in the future! Now, I don't know what EXACTLY was said because I wasn't there, but I don't have to be there to understand that if anything remotely close to this happened, then I would classify that is the POOREST SERVICE EVER!! Especially considering they are a high-end smokehouse. THIS was certainly NOT HIGH END SERVICE. AGAIN! I would suggest this place consider that when you're the high price leader in your category, not everyone can afford your food. So, it is NOT WISE to alienate customers that have frequented your restaurant for the last 5 years! Especially those that live in a country club community because I will tell all my friends and neighbors about this experience and how we were treated after being a long-term customer. While I haven't had complaints about their service in the past ... the, last time I ordered, the food was disappointing. This time, the food was okay, but the service really was lacking. I didn't appreciate them hanging up the phone and I feel that if you are going to sell High Priced food ($25.00, inc. tx {for single plate of 2 items} is pricey) then you should also have a HIGHER STANDARD OF SERVICE! It was overall ... THE WORST!!

Secondly we had to wait a few to be seated on a Friday evening. That's a good sign. We were sat within 5-10 mins. Our server (Brie) I believe was amazing. We asked her for suggestions. She was not shy and suggested the pork chops and Fish. Boy was she right! I got the catfish. I am not a huge catfish fan unless it is done right and CLEAN. Theirs is exactly that! Well seasoned and amazing! The hush puppies were hand made not frozen and were the best from a restaurant that I have had. I also. Had the baked potato, potato salad. Again easily the best I have ever had. Back to the battered and fried pork chops, unless you are able to eat enough for a family of 4 or the 1/2 portion. They were simply seasoned in a way that any chef should be proud of!! We took 3/4 home and airfares them the next day. He had the green beans with the chops and Lordy they could potentially make you slap your momma. Here's the thing. We eat out a lot and I do write a lot of reviews but this hands down was one the top 5 experiences in the last 3-4 years. This meal with drinks was only $38 before a nice cash tip on the table. I will be back again and again! I hope more people find this special place so close to Lake DeGray
