The Zumba class was held in a spacious room. It was a fun class. Parking can be difficult during peak hours. I've been coming to this gym for a while, and honestly, it was never the best Gold's in the area,…read morebut it was at least decent. Since EOS took over about three weeks ago, things have gone downhill fast. The biggest issue is cleanliness. The place is just dirty floors, equipment, locker rooms it feels like nothing is being maintained. The locker rooms are especially bad: soap dispensers empty, no toilet paper, and nothing ever seems to get restocked. Feels like a 24 hour fitness. On top of that, a lot of the equipment is broken or out of order. Machines sit there with "out of service" signs for days, sometimes weeks, and it doesn't look like there's any urgency to fix them. It makes working out here feel like a hassle instead of something you look forward to. The only reason I gave this place two stars instead of one is because the staff themselves are friendly and helpful. They're clearly doing their best, but it feels like management hasn't figured out how to run this location yet. I really hope they get it together soon, because right now, this gym is not worth it.

Nice equipment and modern gym!…read more I joined EOS fitness at the end of February and I am happy with the gym so far. Located in Janss Mall, this gym is at a very convenient location with ample indoor parking and close to many shops and restaurants. The hours are very reasonable during the week, but closes early at 7pm on weekends. The gym is huge with 2 floors, swimming pool, jacuzzi, and a spa with saunas and steam room. Depending on your membership tiers, you can use the EOS at all locations, the escape room for more privacy and towel services. I love the Technogym equipment as they are very modern and well made. The turf area on the second floor allows for a full metabolic workout with jump boxes, tanks, battle ropes, assault bike, and ski machines. The only thing I dislike are the ban on the ball slams and missing tire flips, which I feel are essentials workout routines. The other area that I like is the swimming pool. While I wish the pool is deeper and has shower next to it, I like that the pool is indoor (no worries for sunburn) and seems well maintained. While the gym does get busy during peak hours, the availability of machines is very reasonable during other times. As for the membership fees, we paid $1,000 for a three year membership for my husband and I, which we felt was an excellent value for the area.

They're constantly out of hot water, and half the time the water doesn't work at all. Something is always broken, toilets, sinks, machines, you name it. The steam room basically never works. When this place was Gold's, sure, they had issues, but nothing like this disaster. And it's not just Thousand Oaks. Oxnard is the same. Northridge is the same. Beverly Center is the same. Every EOS location I've been to is falling apart. It's like they took over Gold's and somehow made everything worse. The craziest part is I actually heard a sales rep telling someone that Gold's "ran out of money" and EOS was fixing all their old problems. It's been over a year. Nothing has been fixed. So either he lied, or EOS just doesn't care. I'm paying for a gym that can't keep basic things working. Hot water, bathrooms, machines, the bare minimum. EOS feels like a company that wants to sell memberships but doesn't want to maintain anything. Total disappointment.

The membership includes one personal training session. The machines and free weight room are well-equipped. I liked the Body Balance class, which is basically a yoga class. The staff is friendly. I love that towel service is included! There are several improvements they need to make to get a 5 star rating for me. First of all, almost all of the bikes in the cycling room have broken monitors!! The other members say the management knows about this, but doesn't want to spend the money to replace them. If you've ever taken a Spin class with a broken monitor, it really takes away from the class! Also, the first time I used the women's bathroom, there was no toilet paper or paper towels in the dispensers. It wasn't a good impression! Lastly, you pretty much have to install the app on your phone because they don't want to give out paper schedules of the fitness classes. The class schedules don't seem to be available on their website either. I did manage to get a paper copy of the schedule but it had incorrect class times. It would be very helpful if there were class descriptions. The Goleta and Uptown locations are the only ones who have classes. Uptown also offers Bikram Yoga for a $35/month add-on. Downtown SB does not have any fitness classes. I hear that the Uptown location has working monitors in their Cycle classes so I will head there for these classes. I will update this review in a few months. I hope that the EOS franchise will improve this location!

Five Stars! So happy to update my review because this place has greatly improved in the last year…read more When I first joined this gym I was apalled by how dirty the pool water was. There was always so much stuff floating in the pool. It was disgusting. Over the last year it slowly improved, until one day, about a year ago, I noticed the pool was totally clean. For the first time, nothing floating in the water. These days the pool is almost always completely debris free. Even as the pool cleanliness situation improved, it seemed like nothing was ever going to be done to clean up the jacuzzi. There was a buildup of greasy grime along the waterline that looked like it had been accumulating for years. Well, on my most recent visit I noticed someone finally tried to clean up that buildup in the jacuzzi. They did a pretty respectable job, too. Still a little grimy because they waited far too long to address the issue. You can see how hard someone had to work trying to remove that buildup. That person's hard work, and a consistently clean pool, is what earned 24 Hour Fitness their 5th Star from me. Mikey C says: Well done 24 Hour Fitness! Keep it up!

Super welcoming, quick to respond to any questions, and made the whole experience top-notch from the start. You can tell he cares about the community he's building here. F45 is a cardio/resistance training blend. For an intro offer of $25 for 5 classes, I decided to see if this place would kick my butt, too. I met one of the instructors, Cara, who was very helpful and showed me around the place. There's a Pilates class in the back room and a sauna that you can use if you join for the F45 membership, plus an extra fee. Cara explained that the screens would show the movements we were to mirror, but she also told me to go at my own pace and helped me with my form during several of the stations. I went around the room 3 times (15 minutes total, 45 seconds at each station plus 15 seconds to transition to the next station) to get in a very sweaty 45-minute workout. I used to think I was in decent shape. F45 training laughed in my face as I prayed for the 45-second exercise to end, so I could transition to another 45-second exercise that I also wished were over. Somehow, I made it through the workout, humbled. This place is high energy and definitely challenges you mentally and physically. I look forward to continuing my F45 training journey!

There are two main reasons why I give F45 Training a Five Star rating…read more The first reason: these workouts aren't boring. That's super important because most exercise bores me. And if it's boring, I'm not going to want to do it. But that's never an issue at F45. I've found every session to be different enough that I never get bored. The classes are really well-designed. You know when you sign up what the focus of your class will be. There are usually 10 stations that you complete in 45 minutes, but the exercises at each station are different every class. Each station has two different exercises, typically one for the upper body, one for the lower body. You can choose to do either or both. The second, and most important, reason I give this gym a Five Star Rating is the trainers that work here. Especially the early morning staff, Josie, Lauren and Sarah. There are usually at least two trainers working every class. They continuously circulate around the room, so you never have to wait long for one to come by and check to see if your form is correct or if you need a modification. If you have difficulty doing an exercise, a trainer will instantly modify it or give you an alternative exercise. And that's another reason F45 gets 5 stars from me. See, I can actually do very few of the exercises as demonstrated. I need modifications at almost every station. But I know that in less than a minute a trainer will pass by and quickly modify the activity into something I can actually do. So, I always get a great workout here. F45 Training really is a great place to workout. The trainers that work here are incredibly supportive. There is a really positive, high energy, vibe here. Sessions often end with people high-fiving each other. I love that! Mikey C says: I highly recommend F45 Training!
