Didn't get to eat. We tried going for an unplanned dinner out and called to make sure they were open and were told yes. We got there at around 7:30 and they told us we weren't allowed to eat in after getting plenty of dirty looks from the staff. My mom placed an order with them that came up to about $60. When I got there it was confirmed that the wrong chicken was cooked so I asked them to change the chicken. Now as a business owner. Chicken doesn't amount to $60 , so in my opinion I would've just changed the kind of chicken that was cooked. She said she would only change one so I said I wouldn't pay for neither then. We've been going to Nunzio's for many years. In that time we have enjoyed dozens of delicious take out orders and friendly, fast service. Only one visit irritated me and thankfully, we have not seen that gentleman again. Our son, home from college, advised he had a craving. Happily, we know what that means. Ribs, chicken, skirt steak. Well prepared large portions of proteins accompanied by good fries, rice and veggies. Tried something new the other day. Whole chicken wings, see the picture, which take 45 minutes to prepare. They were delicious but I couldn't help thinking, as I was eating them, that they looked like frogs legs which skeeved me out. That's my problem, not yours. They were delicious but I'll stick with the whole chicken next time. For me, food needs to be visually appealing as well as delicious. My son's ribs were beautiful. None of these tiny hacked up bit and pieces you get in most places. And my wife's skirt steak was cooked rare as requested and if you know anything about skirt, you'll know it is a thinner cut which requires a watchful eye if cooking rare to medium rare. The cooks have their eye on the ball here. So, to our family, Nunzio's sits atop the heap of the countless Portuguese bbq joints out these. See you next time. read more

Been here a few times when I am in Jersey. Excellent Portuguese style cuisine with all the classics. I love their salty ribs with fries and rice and have had many other dishes. The staff is on point and everything is made to order and fresh. They have a huge open pit barbecue going all the time to cook up all of the delicious meats. Definitely not a vegan vegetarian spot. Been here a few times the chicken and ribs are good , the shrimp in garlic sauce taste like per vinegar with garlic TROUBLE! The fries are so soggy and not crisp ! Would advise to get the rice which was excellent . Their Spanish cooks and owner is a older Asian women . The place appears clean and lacks parking there are a few spots on the side of a he building. If you're looking for a good steak and don't feel like getting dressed up, this is the place to come. The skirt steak here is huge and you have the option to order it with rice and fries. They cook it perfectly - medium rare was beautifully pink inside. My husband had the picadiño, which has a nice amount of pork and shrimp, and is served over a mound of rice. My mom had the steak burrito and it was huge. She was able to order the steak to be cooked to her liking, before it was rolled into a spinach tortilla with rice, beans, tomato, cheese, fresh salsa and lettuce. It also came with two fried plantains. Again, this rating is 100% for the food. The restaurant is super casual, but it definitely worth coming to for the food. read more

Nunzios is a cant miss.. in the mood for portuguese cuisine? You cannot go wrong w nunzios. A bit pricey, but well worth every penny. Skirt steak and whole chicken combo?! Supposed to feed at least 3/4 people but its so good it might not make it past 2!!! Empanadas are latin american style, think pr or dr, fried and built with protein to perfection.. my go to is the beef empanadas.. i need at least 3 every time. The food is great, but as I said, it's not the best in town (minus 1 star). The next subtracted star involves their service. I'm not sure if I catch them on bad days or what's going on, but they always seem very short and cold in their responses. On top of that you have to pay for EVERYTHING. Want some hot sauce or bbq sauce, or garlic sauce? It allll has a price! Now, don't misunderstand me...I never mind paying, but at least ask for your extra 25¢ for hot sauce with a smile. This place is inconsistent. Sometimes the food is really good, then sometimes it's dry and bland. I usually get garlic chicken with rice and vegetables. It's better to call in your order before going to the restaurant. Otherwise you will sit there and wait 30-45 minutes for them to prepare your food. read more

I had high hopes after reading the reviews and was pretty excited to try out this spot, as I really miss the tiny hole-in-the-wall spots I used to visit in the Lower East Side for some baked chicken and rice. Pretty much everything I tasted was awesome. It's clear that somebody really cares about the good food at non-pretentious prices. I love the little touches like the pepper grinder and steamed vegetables, not frozen, and home made fries. I loved every bite of the chicken empanada and beef empanada with hot sauce. The mister preferred the beef, kinda reminded me of picadillo. I preferred the chicken, reminded me of shredded chicken in a sazon sauce. I ordered garlic chicken with fries and vegetables but also ate a nice portion of my husband's pork rib/beef rib, rice and vegies platter. Can't go wrong! Those beef ribs were made with so much love and the taste of the grill just makes it succulent. I will definitely be back for more and I will bring friends! I was driving around in the area and needed to get food to bring to a friends house and I decided to give this place a try. They are a fairly large location with a pretty decent size dine in section . Now I placed the order over the phone because I was at the Home Depot down the road. I guess they were concerned about me paying for the order because it was pretty costly but I told them I was only a few minutes away and would come in to pay for it. Now usually when I order Portuguese BBQ regardless of what it is I usually get a choice of rice and fries, rice and salad or rice and beans . Well I guess my $65 half tray of picadhino isn't sold with anything which really was a bummer considering it was $65. I had to order a tray of rice and fries separately. It ended up costing me $94 . Then I see on the menu after I paid that they had trays that were served with rice and fries . When I called that was never suggested to me over the phone . I had never ordered from there before so I would have known. Well needless to say I wasn't all that impressed with taste nor look of my dish I was told by everyone it was as if everything was tossed in Texas Pete hot sauce . This isn't your normal Portuguese bbq. Where they give u a huge amount of food. They do give u a good amount of rice but only one piece of meat. If you order the combo. You can pick two choices. I got the beef ribs and garlic chicken. It came with one piece of chicken and one piece of rib and stacked with rice. I learned to not order a combo! Apparently, as i am now looking at the other reviews, i see i'm not the only who has had this problem with the owner. I ordered food and thr owner who took my order got the order wrong and refused to correct it. It was an $11 item that I was willing to return and pay more the for the correct item and she refused saying no she repeated it to me (a lie) and so that proves she wasn't wrong- but instead I was the one who was wrong. I patronize this business on a regular basis and have even referred many friends and colleagues to them. But because her pride and i guess greed got in the way, she would risk losing a loyal customer plus the countless others i have brought with me over $11. Wow!
