I originally left a review about Burns Pest Control and unfortunately my opinion has only gotten worse. I have since moved into an apartment that uses Orkin. The unit was treated before I moved in and even though I still saw roaches at first, an Orkin technician came back two weeks later and applied a gel treatment in the kitchen and bathroom. He explained that it disrupts the roaches' ability to reproduce and even left me nearly half a tube for follow up. The difference in service was night and day. Orkin was professional, thorough, and actually effective. Easily 10 out of 10 compared to Burns. What's frustrating is that Burns used to be a good company. When I was a kid in the early 2000s, a neighbor worked for them and my mom used their services regularly. Back then they had a solid reputation. Now it feels like poor management has completely run the company into the ground. I recently ran into someone who had done a few treatments at my old apartment I assume a now former Burns technician, at the airport where he now works as a janitor. We talked for a bit and he told me he was making barely over minimum wage while working for Burns. This is a job that involves applying pesticides and toxic chemicals that require state licensing in Arizona through the Department of Agriculture. These licenses require testing and ongoing compliance, yet technicians are paid like disposable labor. Yes while writing this I checked. Honestly I assumed pest control techs were making at least $25 an hour, especially considering customers pay monthly fees for service. Meanwhile this same person is now making around $22 an hour as an airport janitor, with better stability and less risk from chemicals I assume. Large companies like Orkin openly advertise higher starting pay (up to $24 ) for licensed technicians, which makes it very clear why people leave Burns. To the owner of Burns Pest Control, pay your employees a decent wage. If you want competent technicians who care about their work and your customers, you need to treat them like skilled professionals that they are, not minimum wage bodies. Until that changes, I cannot recommend this company to anyone. 0/10 read more

This company came to remove bees from my neighbors property in the front yard and they just smoked them out. They moved a few feet to the ground then immediately into the tree above where my tree is (our properties are very close together). I asked the company to come finish removing the bees and they want me to pay when they haven't finished the previous job. Now these bees are more angry and becoming more dangerous. They have already stung individuals working on my property. It is completely irresponsible behavior and putting individuals at risk. read more

Friday morning we called and talked to Walter and he totally understood and got us scheduled for Saturday. Today Justin came out and sprayed. They have average rates but they have a "wait and see" mentality. If you hire them to eliminate a rodent or pest problem expect that they will give some advice and probabilities without actual solutions. The efforts they provided caused more damages without the extermination of the rodents, which turned out to be months worth of destruction from a single rat. i would give you a zero the last 2 communities ive lived at are contracted with burns. when it comes to these communites, they are roach infested. when i first moved in would see one or two. both places became roach motels. i never found dead roaches either. they were alive in my utensil drawers, my cabinets with my dishes. my recliner became a breeding zone which was a horrifying discovery, burns, you should be be embarrased. and the front office saw my place. i owned a recliner, a tv, and a blow up mattress. i had to throw them, away when i moved so i dinromg amu tiohj k,e i am so angry im going to find a group of us whos lives have been so negatively effected by your inadequate, neglagent business practices and find away to hold you accountable. i dont care about the contracts, the nonsense politics! i live in a community in phoenix arizona and as long as your wrapped vehicles drive though, you are responsible fop controlling the pests. eliminating the pests! its 2026. ai exists. burns pest eliminators, get it together and find a way to do your job. when you do the things you say you do, poeple sleep. they make better decisions. we work better together too.. shame on you. read more

I have had three issues that I have had to contact Burns to take care of problems that their regular scheduled services should have identified. I spoke with the owner on the first issue, and they were willing to take care of the problem. Since than I have had to contact them on two additional issues, even though their people there at my property on a scheduled bases, to try to resolve other pest control issues. They were nice enough to send me a quote for additional funds to correct the problem that they should have seen on their regular visits. I'm giving up and will find another service. We now have a few new tubes and Paul and Sully from Burns came out and found termite tubes that were missed by another company and were very helpful and knowledgeable. to make the appointment for bed bug inspection was difficult because I am a renter. this must be a problem even though I paid out of pocket. 3 phone calls later and I had it scheduled. I called for their services due to the dog they use for search. Do not trust this company for any bee issues!!!! This company service the apartment complex that I just moved to.. Upon moving in we noticed dead bees appearing every day. My husband and I finally located where the hive was and immediately told our apartment management. It was located in a small corner outside into the stucco walls. I also spoke that they DO have a way inside and that they're hive is inside the walls. The burns technician's first step was to spray the bees from the outside. He claimed there was no hive and left for the day after spraying them... Not only did they not knock on the door to see if anyone was there, they did not communicate what he would be doing. (Our car was outside in the driveway-we were home) By him spraying the hive, it immediately caused HUNDREDS of bees to swarm into our apartment and trap myself, my husband, and our dog. The exit was blocked by hundreds of bees flying. We were stranded on our second floor patio in the summer heat and had to be rescued by the fire department. I am no bee expert but after speaking to different companies this was NOT the correct course of action to take. Bees are to be handled delicately and at the very least with safety of the residents in mind. I wish I knew the name of the technician because you should be ashamed! Our lives were put in danger and they DO NOT know how to properly or safely handle bees. If you have a bee issue, you need to call someone else. I will state that I have lived in an apartment complex far too long, because it's been a convenience to co-parenting children about to graduate. The techs, supervisors, etc that have been sent to my place the past 2 years have been kind and communicative. Alas, I still have roaches crawling across my counters, floors, etc even after being repeatedly told my place is so tidy and I'm not the culprit. I've been told by my apartment office that techs/supervisors aren't allowed to talk, but I'm glad they've tried to help. So my bad review is for the customer service/Sales side of Burns that keeps suggesting after 2 years that just my unit be treated and not the entire building. I'm just hosting a nice place for them to hang out and ruin our stuff. Customer service won't talk to you as a 3rd party. A sales person named Kristen is apparently my landlord. We've been using burns pest for almost the last 5 years. Communication has never been their strong suit, but we reached a breaking point this last month and ultimately canceled our account with them. Whatever platform they are using to store their customer data / communicate with drivers is not working. We've been surprised 3 months in a row with different technicians. They always show up on the wrong day and time to spray and it seems to always happen at a bad time. We've had a technician show up before while we weren't home, so when we didn't answer the door, he just let himself on the property via our back gate. We discovered this via ring footage. No phone call from them and it was a tech we had never had before. His response to us later was "well no one answered, so I just let myself in." The final straw was the last guy showing up to spray, 2 weeks after our last surprise visit on August 14. We are on a monthly schedule and somehow had someone show up 2 weeks later on August 28 saying we were on the schedule that day. I reluctantly allowed him to spray and asked him when our next spray was scheduled. He said Sept 9. How are we on a monthly frequency and have technicians show up unannounced to spray 3 different times? We are new parents and ultimately had to cancel because I am not willing to risk being at home with a newborn that's trying to sleep and getting surprise visits from burns pest. We have dogs that react to the doorbell and strangers in the house, it's a lot to coordinate with no notice and ultimately not something I was willing to put up with any longer, especially considering the cost. We can get the same service somewhere else for the same or better price and a reliable team that shows up when they are scheduled. Sure enough, when my husband called to cancel the account, he was told they had no record of our house being sprayed since July. It's pretty clear that the issue here is whatever system they are using to communicate and store customer data. This company has been servicing the luxury apartment complex I live in for nearly a year and the bug problem has ONLY GOTTEN WORSE!!! This company has done an absolute terrible job of managing the crickets, roaches and beatles! We are also now experiencing scorpions because the crickets are absolutely out of control! I would NOT recommend this company if you actually want to see results which of course is less or no more bugs!!!! I'm assuming at this point they just show up at our complex and walk around as a formality but aren't actually spraying anything! I have complained to the techs who show up to spray, I have complained to our office and I have called Burns directly to complain and after nearly a year the bugs have just gotten worse. I'm so frustrated waiting for this company to actually do their job. It would be great to be able to hangout by the pool and not be attacked by crickets, or grill without them crawling up the walls or just walk on the sidewalk at night without having to jump of bugs every two feet! Had mouse issues in my apartment complex for the past three ish months now... first three occurrences was that the mouse got on our table and tore into and ate our bananas. Told our apartment complex they did nothing and blamed our lizards when in fact it wasn't our lizards....We bought our own traps and set them up. After maybe the their occurrence they finally had Burns come out and check it out (they've used burns for long time apparently and I pay $15 a month in my rent for pest control and after looking at some the other reviews about 3 weeks out of scheduling perhaps that's what took so long for the apartment to take action to this -- so I guess Burns is just shitty at scheduling) One guy came in and set up traps all over my kitchen and deactivated my wooden traps... then told me how shitty the traps are and how a little girl like me doesn't know any better and mice don't eat bananas. Like WTF it clearly does! It climbed my table three fucking times and ripped it open and ate a good chunk of it. Then told me it's a rat issue and not a mouse when the hole size is small, the bite and claw marks on the banana was small, the poop and foot prints are small like a mouse.... tried to explain how I'm aware and know these things but he continued to degrade me... The next three weeks I've had each a different person than the first initial guy. Then the fourth the first guy came and said nothing is caught, I'll be back next week to deactivate all traps because nothing is being caught and made me feel I was hallucinating! Then the following week no one came to check or deactivate. We saw of no activity for the past month then this Saturday night, the mouse made appearance in one of the two bedrooms... it chewed up all our nice soft cloths, cloths that was in boxes and pooped all over in my underwear container on the shelf and amongst other items...my boyfriend and I were and still Furious about this...... SO MUCH FOR PAYING $15 a month to prevent pests.... and so much for the traps the Burns finally set up... OUR THINGS ARE BEING DAMAGED BY A DAM MOUSE YOU CAN MANAGE TO RID OF. I told my apartment complex via email with pictures.... I received of no response! We took matters into our own hands and bought poison and dryer sheets even though they told us no from the beginning because they don't want it dead in the walls... ‍ mouse chewed up two things of poison Sunday night! ‍ overall, wouldn't recommend Burns because you can do better job yourself by simply setting up Dcon and shoving dryer sheets into all holes etc. why dryer sheets? Because mouse eats it and it gets tagged in their intestines and dies. I know part of my review is for the fact that my apartment refused to patch up holes in their process of renovation of the space prior to us moving in. But god daaaaammmmm why the hell am I paying extra for service that isn't being utilized?! And refuse to refund money to those whom are having issues. read more

They don't show up for the scheduled appointments and they don't answer emails, this is very frustrating

Waited 5 weeks once I signed up for the weed service only to be told the morning of the service that it needs to be rescheduled, so finally after 7 weeks the tech shows up, but late. The tech applied Barricade 4FL which is a pre-emergent (no post-emergent) and was here for 2 hours and sprayed all the areas that we agreed upon at the original meeting. Time will tell if this service is good for a year. In the past I had companies spray every 6 months and the previous service was quarterly but they kept cancelling and I couldn't get them out even though they raised their prices. I hope all goes well as I'd like to use them for termite/pest control in the future. read more

As with the last visit, David from the east valley office who has been with Burns some eight years did an incredible job. After 27 years as a public servant in a federal program, I know what good customer service is and David is a superstar. David is the type of employee who companies hope for and performance, professionalism and vast knowledge of the work he does. I suggest you recognize him as employee of the month or quarter as we do in our government offices. My sister and I used this company for years on our respective homes and had great service. Now, it has changed. Didn't need service at my new home for a few years and, of course, when I developed a problem with black widows, I called Burns. For some reason they are loading their techs down with an impossible number of customers to service, so they tell you they are coming out at a particular time and don't make it and don't call you to let you know they can't make it within the alotted time. I have cancelled my service over this issue before and the supervisor convinced me to give them another try. Just waited three hours on a no show and cancelled this time for good. Also, previously noted on late show ups that not all of the yard was treated. They need to hire enough technicians to cover the workload. Sad that this formerly good company has declined to this point. read more

I've been a customer for 8 years. This once very good family owned business has taken a nose dive! In the past year, 3 different technicians have not shown up for scheduled appointments! All were no call no shows! Each time it's the same, lame excuses from Customer Service they are really sorry and they will correct the situation by involving their supervisors who could care less and do absolutely nothing! Gone are the days you could speak with a Burns family member on the rare occasion you are having a service concern. Currently, I've been waiting a month and a half for service. They have scheduled twice and were no call no shows in February and March! Do yourself a favor and do your research before hiring this company.
