I've dined here semi-regularly since they opened and, sadly, this last visit has made me question when I'll return. I can overlook certain service things like water and cutlery not arriving right away because it was one person taking care of all the tables and it was surprisingly full at 1:30 pm on a Thursday. With the space so packed, it's abundantly clear how inaccessible it is. Even as a fairly thin person, I had to squeeze between tables and chairs to get to my seat or use the bathroom. If you have a stroller or wheelchair, dining here is virtually a lost cause. The food has really been the draw for me in the past. But this time, the eggs on my eggs benedict were more medium (i.e. less runny yolk) and the dish felt too rich overall. The pastas were good, but I question the side of cranberry toast with a bolognese or creamy mushroom sauce. I want to continue loving this place, I really do. But honestly there's better brunch spots around.

    Croque Madame

I went to Burnt Orange with a friend for brunch this past weekend. It was our first time trying this place but we had both heard good things about it. They don't take reservations on the weekends so we just showed up hoping it wouldn't be too busy. My friend arrived first around 10:30am and was able to get a table after a few minutes. I arrived not too long after and joined her inside. A short lined had already started out front. The place was full and the noise level was quite high, making it very difficult to have a normal conversation. If you struggle with noisy environments, you might want to skip this spot during peak times. I had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict with pan fried potatoes and my friend had the Croque Madame with a side salad. Both dishes were plated nicely but the eggs benny had just one thin slice of smoked salmon on each half of the English muffin and the ham inside the Croque Madame was also pretty thin, especially in comparison to the thick slices of bread. The fried potatoes were really good, though. Seasoned really well and cooked perfectly, with a nice crispy exterior while still being soft on the inside. Probably the best potatoes I've had in a while. Service was pretty good but I was hoping to get a refill on my coffee and flagging someone down was challenging due to the noise level and how busy the servers were. They don't really want people lingering after they're done eating, as there were people waiting in line so we felt a bit rushed to leave as soon as we were done eating. Would I go back? Probably not, especially since it's about a 20-25 min drive for me. I hate being rushed and I really disliked the noise level. The food was good but not spectacular. For two people (with one mimosa and one coffee), the bill was just under $75 after tax and tip. There are much better spots out there (in my opinion) where I can sit and enjoy a leisurely meal and good conversation, especially at that price point. I would rate this place 3.5 stars but rounded up because the potatoes were so good.

Have you been to Burnt Orange Café + Bistro in Burnaby before? If not -- you need to go ASAP! We absolutely adore this place. The first time I went was on my birthday, January 22, 2025, with my son. I ordered the Blueberry Pancakes with House-Made Blueberry Compote, maple butter syrup, and fresh seasonal berries. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious -- I was in total blueberry heaven! My son had the Chicken & Waffles and couldn't stop eating. He even asked if we could come back the next day -- that says it all! I also had their Lavender Latte, and it was exactly what I was hoping for. Not many places make a good lavender latte, but Burnt Orange absolutely nailed it! We went back again on May 10, 2025, to celebrate both our mom's birthday and Mother's Day. It was the perfect place for a family brunch. I had the Savory Spinach & Feta Omelette with breakfast sausage, bell peppers, sautéed mushrooms, spinach, feta cheese, balsamic cherry tomatoes, green salad, and sourdough toast -- SOOOO GOOD!!! My sisters ordered the Eggs Benedict with Champagne Hollandaise (Classic Ham & Avocado with wilted spinach and crispy herb butter potatoes), and they cleaned their plates. The moms had the Smoked Salmon Benedict with cold-smoked salmon, avocado, spinach, capers, and dill, also served with crispy herb butter potatoes and perfectly poached eggs. We also enjoyed tea, coffee, and a few specialty drinks -- everything was wonderful. What are you waiting for? Make a reservation and see for yourself. The food quality is amazing, and the staff are always friendly and professional. Burnt Orange never disappoints!

The renovation interior is well done, modern and simple. Not a big restaurant but comfy. Went on a weekday, single server and she was efficient. Food was great, full detail in plating. Coffee was great, latte made to order.

soup and sandwich combo (turkey pesto and clam chowder)

This is a nice family-owned brunch spot in an area where there are many great places to eat. I tried to go to this place last time, but the wait was too long. This time, we managed to snag a spot at the bar seating area on a Saturday afternoon. Service was a bit slow as it was quite busy, but the cafe is really nice and clean with great French cafe brunch vibes. I ordered the clam chowder and turkey pesto sandwich combo, while my boyfriend ordered the breakfast plate. The breakfast plate was standard, nothing impressive, but I did like the cranberry toast. They used the same bread in my sandwich, which made it 10x better. The clam chowder was piping hot, very flavourful, and hearty. Dipping the sandwich into the soup was an extra special treat. My boyfriend ordered the bumble bee, espresso and orange juice, and it was a very strange drink, but somehow the acidity of the juice and espresso seemed to pair well. I would definitely return to enjoy the sandwich and soup again!

Menu and 2 items we ordered, the Ragatoni Bolognese and burger

The burger was brought out cold . The place is very crowded even at 12 noon on a Thursday . Being jam packed we had to shout to conduct a conversation. Only 2 servers so when full they had problems serving out the food hence things were went if not cold . Good ambience but really so so...

So exciting to see another brunch location along Burnaby Heights area - There is not a lot of seating available - so you will want to come early, and give yourself extra time in case there is a queue as they do not take reservations - and all guests need to be there prior to being seated. Super transit friendly , as it's along Hastings. There is also street parking available - pay attention to signs for restrictions. Table spacing does feel a little tight - so be careful when getting out of your seat - in case you hit another customer that is behind you. Rest rooms have some meme like paintings - worth a giggle. Service team was super friendly and attentive - those water glasses will basically fill themselves - The mini potatoes didn't have much taste in my opinion - however they were crisp outside and soft inside - Smoked Salmon Benny - was really good - fair amount of salmon - and the yolks ooze out upon cutting - the flavor of the sauce was just right , not over bearing. Bumble bee (Orange juice + Coffee) was interesting to me - never really thought of the combination until I was here. It's quite acidic , so it tasted better as the ice melted.

The service and brunch vibes were on point. We started off with the MIMOSA FLIGHT which was okay. It was pretty to look at, but could have been better. The Avocado Chorizo Hash and calamari were okay as well. It was a holiday, so we waited for over 45 minutes. The room was loud with chatter which made it difficult to hear each other since the place was quite small.

Small cafe located along Hastings near unt Burnaby Heights area. They completely renovated the inside giving it a French bistro look on the inside. There definitely isn't a lot of seating on the inside so make sure you come early! We were luck enough to get in with no wait at 10am but there was a line out the door until around 12pm! I tried out the chorizo hash which was super tasty and I loved the champagne hollandaise sauce on top. The eggs were cooked to perfection and were super runny on the inside. Highly recommend!

Very chic and elegant cafe. I thought the Mean Girls quote in the back was a nice touch lol. We wrote our name on the waitlist and although space is tight, we only waited about 20 minutes for a table of two on a Sat at 12pm. There were only two servers working, but they were both welcoming and friendly and checked on us several times during our meal. I loved their lavender latte, which is made with Parallel 49 coffee beans. The food portions were on the smaller side, but everything was delicious. My husband got the panini & soup combo. I could tell the clam chowder was made in house, it was so creamy and hearty. I had the avocado chorizo hash and would recommend this dish. The ingredients paired well together with the two sauces and the hashbrowns were well-seasoned. My only complaint is one of the eggs was overcooked while the other was nice and runny.

A new brunch spot on Burnaby Heights It was bright and decor was quite relaxing The clam chowder with turkey breast panini was pretty good. The soup was very creamy was homemade and for sure worth a try. The chicken and waffle was not bad. The chicken was flavorful and juicy but the waffle was cold It was not busy during a weekday lunch but the service was a bit slow. I would come back to try their other brunch items

Came here with a friend on a Saturday morning around 11/11:30am. It was nearly packed when we walked in. They don't take reservations so it's first come first serve. Definitely recommend arriving earlier. Their service was a bit slow as I could tell the waitresses were dashing around table to table. But the food was amazing!! I had the breakfast platter. The bread was delicious - There are small cranberry pieces there and I would 100% get this platter again. Chef was attentive and left my ketchup on the side.

When I came back, he had my purse and jacket in his hands and was at the door. The boss lady didn't event wait for me to come back to the table before she kicked us out. It just didn't feel right. I know they were busy, but we were there first, didn't skimp on ordering a full meal and we were not dawdling. We had actually made a reservation. We will not be back for a while.
