PART 1 of 2: Burrell's Moving & Hauling LLC is owned and operated by Mr. Terrance Burrell. The Burrell's Moving & Hauling LLC website boasts having over 20 years' experience in the moving field; however, what the website doesn't tell you if you don't care how your possessions are treated and if they are damaged Mr. Burrell will fail to reimburse you for the damaged items or he'll claim Burrell's moving isn't responsible, then Burrell's Hauling & Moving is the moving company for you. It's also the company for you if you want to experience a "bait and switch" for services and pay $700 more because additional trips were needed and the move took longer than quoted because Mr. Burrell decided to use a smaller moving truck to increase the cost of the move, then Burrell's Hauling & Moving is the moving company for you! When Burrell's moving team damages your possessions, Mr. Burrell will fail to pay you to replace or repair your possessions. He'll give you one excuse after another for why he hasn't paid you, and you will never see your money. Mr. Burrell will also quote you one price then increase the price...classic bait and switch. I'm embarrassed to admit that I fell for Mr. Burrell's smooth response to my inquiry. Please learn from my mistake. I hired Burrell's Moving and Hauling for a 13-mile move. The quote provided to me by Mr. Burrell via email was "sending three guys at $178 per hour with a four hour (sic) minimum plus a one time (sic) trip fee of $140 which, will cover the truck, fuel, travel etc. Therefore, your first four hours will be a total of $852 and then you'll pay $178 for each additional hour over four. I estimate that your move should take about seven hours to complete for a total of $1386." This quote was on the low side to comparable to other movers that I received a quote. Mr. Burrell represented his company as a very professional company that would treat your possessions as if they were his own. The day of the move Mr. Burrell and his team of 3 men arrived with two smaller box trucks even though this was not what we had discussed. Mr. Burrell decided to return one of the trucks he had brought to the house because he had rented the truck and didn't want to have to pay for renting the truck if he could complete my move with one truck, even though the remaining truck was a smaller truck than the truck we had discussed for the move. As a result, more trips would be needed to complete the move, and the move was going to take longer. His team started at 10:30am and unloaded the final load shortly after 12:30am. The final cost due to the additional trips and hours required to complete the move was almost $2100. During the process, his moving team dropped my solid wood, mirror-back lighted curio cabinet, damaging it beyond repair. His moving team didn't inform him that they had dropped and damaged the curio cabinet beyond repair. I had to inform Mr. Burrell the following day. Mr. Burrell informed me that he was going to deduct the cost of replacing the curio cabinet from the paychecks of his moving team over the next two weeks. He said he didn't want to deduct the cost from their paychecks all at once because he was concerned that they would quit. This says a lot about Mr. Burrell and the caliber of individuals he hires. Mr. Burrell pressured me to find a replacement curio cabinet quickly so he could let his team know how much would be deducted from their paychecks. Finding a comparable curio cabinet was difficult, not only because the curio cabinet had been my Mother's, who is deceased, so there is no way to replace the sentimental value that I lost, but also because Mr. Burrell wanted me to minimize the cost of the curio cabinet so his team wouldn't quit if too much money was deducted from their paychecks to cover the cost of replacing the curio cabinet. Mr. Burrell also did not want to pay for assembly of the curio cabinet. Instead, he offered to put the cabinet together himself, or have one of his team members assemble the curio. I found a curio cabinet that was solid wood and comparable in size like my Mother's curio, but it cost $1,962.79, but Mr. Burrell said this was too much and his moving team would quit if he had to deduct money from their paychecks to cover that amount. I settled for a curio cabinet which cost $360 that was not solid wood like my Mother's curio cabinet, was considerably smaller and was also of inferior quality, craftsmanship. Once the replacement curio arrived, after a few weeks Mr. Burrell sent two of his team members to my house to assemble the new curio. Despite knowing they were coming to assemble the curio cabinet, they arrived without any tools and within a few minutes of their arrival to my home, one of the men asked me if I had Tylenol or something for his headache. Clear evidence of the professional moving team employed by Mr. Burrell. Hopefully this site will allow me to post Part 2 of 2 of this review because the experience gets worse. read more

The good. Team was great, careful, nice, clean, professional. Owner is personable/dynamic personality. The bad. Felt like we were being scammed on day of moves (twice). My BF and I used them for separate moves over a month time period. The first move: owner said he didn't quote me enough not realizing I had so "much" -- after I stressed over phone how "Much" I have and how "big" my furniture was (and I offered for him to stop in to assess himself or for me to send pics during quoting process). After a healthy debate, he honored the quote he gave me. Move #2, he hit BF with "accidentally forgetting to calculate fuel charge for out of town move" and wanted another few hundred dollars the morning of the move. When BF refused to pay; things escalated. Owner, who previously waived a 'change of date' fee, then instigated it back and said...it was his legal right to keep the truck full of my BF's belongings if "extra" wasn't paid. Bottom line: be careful with quotes provided and be prepared to defend not paying extras on day of move. If you respectfully stand up for yourself on what's right, he will listen...but boy, it feels shady to have two moves with two "quoting mistakes" on the day of the move that result in him wanting more money. read more

My daughter hired Burrell Moving & Hauling. The movers were two hours late, which was unacceptable because they were well into the night moving furniture.They damaged a flat screen during the move. I had one of the movers call Mr. Burrell about the damaged flat screen prior to payment. He said there would compensation for the damage. Days later when she spoke to the owner about compensation he claimed because of the price he charged there was no obligation or responsibility on his part to do anything. He ended the conversation saying he would call her back, but it's been a week with no callback. I hope Mr. Burrell is listed with BBB for good reason. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Beware, you don't want to deal with individuals who are not honest such as the owner of this company. read more

I used Burrell's moving services, 10/24/14, to load a Penske truck to drive approx. 700 miles. They did an amazing job, wrapping and securing the furniture, 50 inch plasma tv, 32 in tv and paintings. Literally nothing shifted and nothing was broken upon arrival after that 13 hr drive. An exceptional job done for a great rate!!!! They were on time too unlike some movers. Burrell's was recommended to me by multiple coworkers. They moved my stuff from an apartment to a storage unit and a house in April 2014. The movers were professional, friendly and careful. They noticed boxes marked as fragile and were careful to move and stack them appropriately. Padding and shrink wrap were provided for all furniture pieces; they took the time to carefully wrap the legs of my chairs and couch, so they wouldn't get dinged during the move. The move was completed in the allotted amount of time, even with two different stops on along the route. We didn't experience any billing problems or surprise charges. I was extremely pleased with my experience and will be hiring them again at the end of July 2015. read more

We are first were quoted a price based on if we needed so many hours to move our things. The price was almost $3000 but we were in a bind. On moving day our family was helping us direct movers while we were at closing. Some of the movers got into my elderly aunts face and broke my mom's garage door. They were pushy and rude. They broke several items of furniture including two coffee tables and a tv stand. Some items are still missing and they didn't work the hours originally quoted yet wouldn't unload our items unless we paid them the full amount. They couldn't follow directions and left trash including candy wrappers, McDonald's cups and plastic bottles in our yard and garage. On a day that was to be so exciting was clouded by the stress and attitudes of this company. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, even if you're in a bind. read more

Burrell's Moving saved my move. I had another moving company scheduled for the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, which was also the first of the month. The night before the move, I received a call from the other moving company that they couldn't do the move because their driver had called out. I didn't know what to do as I was getting some large pieces of furniture from my brother's in-laws and I didn't want to inconvenience them. Thankfully, they recommended Burrell's as they had recently done a move for their daughter. On the day of the move, I called Burrell's to see if they had a cancellation and would be able to fit me in. I spoke with the owner, who was in Florida, but he spoke with his team and they were able to fit me in because my move was so small. The guys were great and worked hard moving the furniture. I live on the third floor with no elevator, but they were able to move everything. I'm so thankful that Burrell's was able to fit me in and complete my move on the day I needed! read more

I used Burrell's last week to move some furniture from my mom's house to mine. It was a really easy move (only 4 pieces). They quoted an extremely fair price and I did shop around before scheduling with them. I was able to get the price via e-mail and then called to schedule the pick-up and delivery. All of this happened after 7PM on a weeknight, which was also really surprising to me. The movers showed up on time, wrapped the pieces well and moved them with no problem. I have used Burrells moving several times and overall had an average experience. One of the moves they were late and caused me to miss work. I was upset about this because I explicitly stated I had to work and they were hours late on the move. The movers for the most part are pretty professional and quick with the exception of one guy who recently was released from prison, cursed a lot and was a sketchy character overall. I was glad I was only moving my things from storage to a truck and doing the rest on my own because later I found out this guy served time for murder and was involved in a Hispanic gang. In my honest opinion a full background should be ran on movers especially if they are going into your home. I hate that he uses day workers mostly with the exception of his college aged son. I would use them again because the prices are fair and I believe in sticking to what and who I know! read more

these guys knew what they were doing. they arrived on time, were very courteous/professional and knew how to move large pieces through tight spots. I would strongly recommend them over the larger companies that try to squeeze every penny out of you and take their time doing it. There were two trucks. The first truck had a great crew, they did a great job. The second crew that arrived an hour later was terrible. All the problems came from the second crew (Two guys). They dropped our dryer and dented the vent (I was later able to repair it), They improperly transported the washer, it now has a loud metalic whine on the spin cycle. There are several gouges into the walls of our new house. The refrigerator was dropped in the front of the house, the ice-maker fell out and the right hand door was bent. The fridge was put in the house, and I was able to get the door to function. It now leaked water, and we had to eventually put it into the garage. I contacted Burrells and it didn't go well. I asked for $500.00, an amount that I felt was fair. He blamed it on the workers and said I needed to get it from them. He said in some cases he would front the money for them and the workers would pay him back. I called him on it and he changed his tune: He said it was now an insurance matter. After four weeks of communication he offered me $150.00, and said I needed to drive down to Indy to fill out some paperwork in order to get a check. I told him to keep his money. In addition the final price was more than was quoted. read more
