A word of caution. I called Burris Law to inquire about a living trust. The person who answered the phone asked for my name, phone number, and email address. I provided the info she requested. She said Ms. Burris will call me back. I did not receive a call back. Instead I received a generic email saying that Ms. Burris charges $300 for a half hour consultation. I have talked to many other estate planning attorneys. I have found that most estate planning attorneys don't charge a initial consolation fee (up to 1 hour free) because they want to first get to know a little about myself and my needs so that they can determine if they can help me or not. I like this because it shows that it is not all about the money for them. Apparently Ms. Burris is not one of these attorneys. read more

He was clear and concise about my options, left out unnecessary legal jargon so that I could really understand what my next steps were. 2. Provided options that were economically efficient and even some that would not require the use of his firm, yet would provide me with some level of protection against unwanted lawsuits. 3. I have a rental in Rancho Santa Margarita. My tenants were being harassed by people who lived in the townhome community; which included people where on the board of the HOA (next door neighbor). My tenants (who are hispanic) were being harassed for petty things such as parking in front of the garage so that they could unload groceries, speeding in the area, and were even accused some of their family members living in the garage; all of which were untrue. I tried endlessly to resolve the issue with the HOA; however, they escalated it to their attorney and had him send me a threatening letter stating that I had two weeks to resolve the issue. At this point, I felt like I had no choice but to find a Real Estate attorney as it was quite clear, the HOA and the community were trying to build a case to get my tenants to move-out. I found Jason Burris here on Yelp to help me with my issue. I told him I just needed him to write the HOA's attorney a letter stating the facts (actual facts) educating him as to what is really going on. It was so worth it because, after the letter was sent, the HOA added an "Anti-Harassment" policy to the CC&Rs and re-vamped some of their policies such as adding an actual speed limit sign and a clear protocol to voice complaints. It's also my understanding that the board member (next door neighbor) is no longer on the board (go figure). In any event, the letter did the trick and now my tenants have told me the neighbors have not been harassing them anymore. I would hope so, because when I read the final draft, it even gave me the "heebees geebees" and then I remembered, "oh he's my attorney!" He comes highly recommended.... read more
