I don't usually write reviews but I was pretty miffed about my recent experience and wanted to share. I went for lunch and sat at the bar. I was impressed that they offered healthier options like brown rice, whole wheat tortillas and dairy free milk options. I ordered the spinach and mushroom burrito and boy was I disappointed. It was large, but it was mostly black beans and rice. A tiny bit of spinach and mushrooms were inside. No cheese to speak of and no salsa. It was very dry. For $14, that's a complete rip-off. I let the manager know and she said there was cheese inside (there was none, I didn't see or taste any). She offered me a free shot but I declined as I don't drink that much. All I wanted was a discount or to have the burrito removed from the check. She said no. That is why I'm writing this review. Poor customer service. If she had admitted the mistake and clear poor quality and provided a discount or removed the item from the check, then she would have avoided a negative review and had a more satisfied customer. Stick to Maya Taqueria - they actually fill their burritos with much more than beans and rice for the same price - and they have healthy options that taste good. read more

Came here with some friends after a Nets Game. The food was really good. Authentic tastes and menu options. We tried the nachos, mozerella sticks and the baja fish tacos. Reasonable portions and full of flavor. The drinks were ok, not a fan of of the frozen options, but the on the rocks options were much better options. Will come back for more menu options to try. read more

I've been to Burrito Bar several times, but recently stopped in after their most recent renovations. I came during lunch and sat at the bar. I ordered the fish tacos and a lemonade. So I ventured back to a spot that I frequented while working at the Barclays Center from 2010-2015. During that time our group of Premium level staff made the Burrito Bar our favorite place and ordered drinks and food. The staff was amazing and responsive to our attendance. Fast forward, I had a different experience. The bar staff offered no salsa and chips and no water. I did offered the chicken mini chimichangas and they were soggy even though the menu said "crispy". Conveniently located by the 7th Ave (B/Q) station and a short walk away from the Bergen St (2/3) location, Burrito Bar is an inviting eatery with al fresco seating. The space inside is a little small, and can get a little crowded easily. Still, the service was great and the waiter was very attentive in refilling our water carafe. I had the "All Wheat Are Saying" ($12) which came with mushrooms, spinach, a sprinkling of queso blanco and some sliced avocados. Burrito Bar gives you the option of ordering your entree in either a burrito or bowl form, which I love. Different boats for different goats. Don't forget to check in on Yelp for 50% a glass of margarita-- it comes out to only $5.50! I'd recommend sitting outside, or by the windows which also open in warm weather. Was attending a Nets game so stopped by burrito bar for food and drinks before the game since this is within a 6min walk of the arena. It was a Tuesday evening so no wait for a table for 2 and there was a good amount of folks also pre-gaming before the basketball game. Happy hour was until 7pm and included flavored frozen margaritas, regular margaritas on the rocks, some beer, and sangria. I had the passion fruit and then a mango margarita. They are pretty small cups and it's not as frozen as you would expect, gives more of a slushie or foamy consistency. Overall it was good for the price but I wish the passion fruit flavor was a little more noticeable. For food, I had the "light my fire" burrito which was the hanger steak burrito. It was very big and filling. It was tasty but was something like some spicy or just extra seasoning. Once I asked for hot sauce and salsa verde to add to it, the burrito tastes much better. My bf has the tiny taco sampler and said the chicken and battered fish tacos were great. I love this place! they re did the inside and it looks so good! I used to get their mini chicken quesadillas but they don't have them anymore :( Drinks are always strong! Happy hour is a great deal there. Servers are nice but they recently switched to ordering on your phone so no more interaction with a server, tip automatically added as well. Stopped by randomly for dinner when the original spot that we were going to was closed. Looked pretty packed insane so thought to try it out. As soon as I sat down, I was expecting chips and salsa. They don't come comp anymore after covid, but they are available for purchase. I asked the waiter about this and as it was my first time, he was kind enough to bring them for free. The chips were good, not too greasy or salty but I wish the salsa was a little spicier. Overall good. For apps, tried the wings, they were delicious. Really well done and great flavor. Over the past two months, friends and I have started frequenting Burrito Bar again once weekly, after taking a break for reasons outlined in my previous posts. We were definitely impressed with the makeover, and what seems to be a renewed commitment to all those elements that made Burrito Bar so magical for us so many years ago (I've attached my "Groupie Card" just to give you an idea of how long I've been patronizing this place. Last night, we pulled up to the bar for an evening of what we thought would be good food, drinks, laughter and fun. It certainly started off well with a round of great margaritas and some nibbles. One member of our trio was running late, and as the bar filled up, I was worried someone would finally snag the barstool next to us (I don't believe in holding seats when an establishment is trying to make coin). Indeed, a gentleman asked to have it, and we happily obliged, because IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO. By the time our friend arrives, there's just one seat remaining at the opposite end of the bar (the one behind the host podium). Dying for a cigarette, we tell the newly arrived friend that we'll be back, and will ask if we can have the barstool to replace the one that was needed for the dining area. When asked, Javier, the manager, simply dismissed the request, and said no. Cool, as I though he knew something we didn't know. Anyhoo, outside smoking a cigarette, we noticed that he and staff were opening up the outside COVID hut for a party, going the extra mile to ensure their comfort, as a good manager and staff should. At the same time, we noticed from outside that the aforementioned stool was, indeed, vacant, and I said I'd ask again when inside. I asked Javier again, and with much snark, said "Yeah, you can get it." Now, here's where I don't come out smelling like roses, because my response was "Oh, you can't get it?" This response was for many reasons, and had nothing to do with me wanting to boss anyone around (it's not my style). A) Their lovely stools are solid iron, and a little heavy; B) While I can certainly carry the stool, we were on the opposite side of the bar next to the service bar. Out of RESPECT, I didn't want to go hauling chairs through the establishment, and it would have looked a whole lot better if an employee did it. I worked in countless restaurants, imbibed in even more, and I'm experienced enough to know that a GOOD MANAGER would have retrieved the stool for us; and C) I just watched you make magic happen by opening up a station that was previously closed, turning on lights and heat, hauling high-chairs outside, etc., but your response to me was "Nah, YOU can get it." Bet! I go get the barstool, and when I'm back, and call him a "smart ass," to which he replied "I know I'm a smart ass. That's why I'm the manager." Yelpers, I can't tell you how my blood began to boil. He subsequently accused me of being drunk, I had exactly two margaritas, a fiesta platter, and a side of fries (split among two). Now, you go from smart ass to ASSHOLE in my book. After a few choice words, things somewhat calmed down, and our third arrival had received his FIRST drink. Javier, the oh so professional manager, then appears behind me grabbing my shoulder while asking "You sure you're not drunk?" This was clearly done to antagonize me, and I responded with "Get your hands off me BEFORE I punch you in the face!" He then claimed that he asked because he wanted to buy me shot. Let it be known that I NEVER do shots, as I'm not in the business of getting drunk, and why would you want to ply someone with a shot that you had previously accused of being drunk? I told him I don't do shots, and I don't need him to buy me shit. Things simmer back down, and I offer to buy a gentleman next to me a drink, and apologized for him having to experience the scene. He was understanding, and offered some sage advice; really tried to deescalate what was happening. Well, I never got a chance to buy him the drink, my friend didn't get a chance to drink his FIRST drink, and we were denied what would have been our third margarita, which is typically when I call it quits. Javier claimed that since I THREATENED TO PUNCH HIM, HE HAD TO CUT US OFF. This after HE PUT HIS HANDS ON ME. We left, but I was really offended and hurt. Honestly, the three of us had been so excited to add Burrito Bar back into our rotation of fun, then this happens. Javier is a young arrogant kat who has to learn to curb his visceral dismissiveness of some, and really ask himself where does that emanate from? Lastly, the friend who never got a chance to have his FIRST drink paid the tab before I could intervene, and later told me that it included gratuity. We're all three great tippers, and gratuity NEVER bothers me, but I couldn't help but shake my head upon learning that. I hope someone above the MANAGER reads this. Cheers! read more

Absolutely yummy, as always! Quick and pleasant service, we were seated outside at a table for 2. The waiter was very friendly, and prompt. However after our drinks came, we waited about another 5 min, but no chips & salsa arrived. Upon asking, I was told that chips & salsa are no longer complimentary, but our waited was nice enough to bring them for us anyway on the house. We definitely appreciated that, especially since that change was not noted anywhere in writing. Our food arrived hot and sizzling just like we wanted, and it was DELICIOUS! Just went here for the first time on Sunday with my Best-friend and niece after we couldn't eat at Piquant due to the vaccine mandate. They are only doing outdoor seating due to indoor renovations but we were quickly seated although it's took about 20 minutes before the waiter came to take our order. The waiter brought our frozen margaritas quickly and the food arrived shortly afterward. I ate the barnyard burrito which could have been bigger and had way too much cheese but decent overall. My best friend had a plantain-based meal that also looks pretty good. Also chips and salsa are two dollars additional. My best friend who has been here a few times before said it used to be free but I guess they charge for everything now. The outdoor area is to the front of the restaurant which is very small and under some trees. Towards the end of our meal, some things started falling off of the trees and onto our table so we didn't stay too long. Also they didn't have any high chairs for my niece which was surprising. The restaurant isn't something I'd choose myself for a brunch date but definitely came in clutch last minute. Don't know if I'll be returning anytime soon but decent overall. read more

I did not like the food. It was either plain or drenched in some random sauce. There's no spice, no funky flavors... not Mexican and hardly even Tex Mex. I did not like the waiter. She rolled her eyes at me and was not very helpful in general. But it's not completely her fault. The weird hybrid system they have in place with the QR code menu that makes you order online plus waiters bumbling around feeling superfluous. It's just weird. The ambience was strange. Burrito bar has gone down the drain in recent years, in terms of quality and service. Tonight we were told restaurant was closed at 10:10pm even though there are other patrons in the restaurant seated at tables, and their sign says "last seating 11pm" as pictured. Shame because I used to love this place, but as noted the quality just isn't there anymore and that's why they only have 3/5 stars and why I'm giving 1/5 tonight for the dismissive nature of the worker who came to the door to refuse our patronage. read more

This is definitely going to sound weird: I'm half Mexican, my mother is from Mexico City and I spent half my childhood there, and grew up on her home cooking, but sometimes I just like Americanized cheesy and greasy Mexican food that doesn't resemble that authenticity at all. It's good! So that's what you get here. It's cheesy, it's greasy, it's nothing to write home about, but it's fair and satisfies that kind of craving. My niece is always talking about this place so I decided to go with her and other family members. First thing I can say is that its definitely kid friendly. They have the cutest mexican high chair for the toddlers. Then they also tie a balloon to the back of the chair and offer them Ice Cream at the end of the meal. Now on to the good stuff - those frozen mango margaritas hit the spot. We ordered a pitcher and it was a nice blend, not too sweet or not too tart. I ordered the loaded nachos with chicken everyone at my table was staring at my food so reluctantly I had to offer them some. My niece ordered the Fish tacos and she said it was delicious My daughter ordered the Planto vercruzano she said it was good but it was lacking enough shrimp. YUM! At first I was not the biggest fan of Mexican food - preference. However, after tryna big Burrito Bar, I am a convert. I was initially heading to Elberta for brunch with friends, but we did a last minute switch to Burrito Bar since the other spot was crowded. Good choice. The place wasn't crowded... midday Saturday. I'm guessing this is because it gets live in the evenings/night. Well, I had the salmon burger... DELISH. The fries were well-seasoned, my hibiscus mojito was great, the sides were awesome... it was a deeply satisfying meal. My friends had a variety of meals and they were all very satisfied. Came here after a Nets game because it was Walking distance from the Barclays center. Although they were pretty busy we did not wait long for a table. They did ask us to switch our seats to accommodate a larger party which we didn't mind and they gave us a round of drinks on the house which I thought was nice. We had guacamole, the tacos sampler, and chimichangas. Everything was delicious. I love having variety, tapas style meals and the taco sampler was perfect for that. The space is intimate and cozy. Located on swexi Flatbush Ave it seemed as though we left the rest of BKLYN behind. Street parking available at nights. There is actual parking in front the restaurant but of course lady luck would have to be on your entire side to get a space. Burrito Bar is a decent size and coupled with curbside dinning, you and your family or date won't have to wait long (if at all) to be seated. We were informed as the hostess took us to our seat that it's a CASH ONLY joint. Who walks around with cash? Thank God we had a lot of pennies which we later pooled. Lol. They are a bit disorganized. Our waitress seemed tired and or disoriented. The bus boy was rude when we asked him to locate her. "Do I look like a waitress to you?" Wow. One of their signature drinks (the reason we went) the MauiWowie (spellcheck) wasn't as we remembered and I'm quite sure someone sipped my drink before it got to me, no way those amounts were full shots of whisky. This place has good drinks and good food. I normally get the margarita on the rocks. The bartender is friendly and I like that it's casual. If you're looking for a place that won't break the bank then this is a good spot. Their happy hour specials are really good because some of the margaritas can range from $13 and up which is kinda pricey. If you want no frills Latin food, a fun casual setting and strong drinks, burrito bar is recommended. read more

We were in the area for a game and wanted to grab a quick dinner, we parked about a block away and once we got in we were able to sit down right away even though the place looked packed. The bar is on the right and wraps around while the seating is on the left and extends to the back of the restaurant, the vibe is nice with festive music, all the staff was nice and friendly. Service was fast and efficient, exactly what you need when you're trying to make it to a game on time. It was Thursday and they had happy hour from 4-7pm so we were in luck, my wife got a margarita for $7 and I had a modela negra for $5. The Burrito Bar is a very chilled out spot to check on a nice summer night. There is outdoor and indoor seating. Its a very popular place. The food is awesome. The drinks are very good. They usually open at 2 pm and at times there is a line to get in even at 2. The servers are awesome and very friendly. I like to take my dog there and they treat him very nice.
