Just gave a fasting labs at the VA. Really needed to eat. Saw this place & thought a burrito would really hit the spot. Had never eaten at a Burrito Express, but by the looks of all the construction trucks in the I knew this was the place. Menu was large easy to read. Made for a no issues order. Yaretsi Busta was friendly & quick to offer advice. I ordered the egg & bean Burrito, starting second guessing myself thinking I might need two, but stayed with on. The burrito was HUGE! (see pictures i have large hands). It was perfect. It is the best burrito I have had in awhile. Building was clean, great atmosphere, plenty of seating, 3 tvs, large enough for an average group. The amount of people coming in & out was amazing (it was 8AM) Parking is tight, so no trailers or RVs. That said there is a huge parking lot across the busy street to park anything. Then just play "frogger" to get across street. You will not be disappointed with this place. Many people placing orders then walking in to pick up. read more

Okay everyone, you have to hear this. I've been to New Mexico once or twice and I have just always so much loved New Mexican food since a friend introduced me to it. But you can't really find it anywhere else in the country. You can find variations of Cal-Mex and Tex-Mex here and there but there's nothing that really compares to the New Mexican cuisine. So on this very long road trip I was taking, I had to find a place to stop and get some sort of New Mexican cuisine. So after staying the night in Tucumcari, I piled into the car early in the morning and headed towards Flagstaff. I knew I would be passing through Albuquerque so there would be plenty of opportunity. After Yelping to figure out what would give me a really good breakfast burrito and probably not should have been doing that while I was driving, I stumbled across Burrito Express. It came across as no frills and just overall good food for a good price point. So after mapping where I needed to go, I was set. Passing through Albuquerque a couple hours later, I stopped and found some parking with just a little bit of difficulty. It's a very busy strip mall so there's lots of cars around. I walked in and asked the very friendly employee for a delicious New Mexican breakfast burrito. He helped me figure out exactly what I wanted and when he asked me how I wanted my eggs, I was initially confused. What do you mean how do I want my eggs? I've never been asked that before when regards to a breakfast burrito. He said I could have them runny if I wanted. Okay! So I did just that. And this was one of the best breakfast burritos I have ever had! Thoroughly delicious and really made my quick stop in Albuquerque worth it. Wish I could have stayed longer. read more

Ah, Burrito Express... my trip here was a mixed blessing. On one hand, the burrito was exceptionally unexceptional. But on the other hand, at least I can mark it off my list of places to try now. I must be missing something with those 5 star reviews... My burrito was the picture of mediocrity. Though the tortilla had a decidedly homemade quality to it, it was too dense and flavorless to be a saving grace. On the subject of tortillas, I think they misheard me when I asked for a breakfast burrito, because I'm pretty sure they gave me a tortilla burrito instead... although I did detect a meager thread of yellow and orange stuff running thru the middle of my flour roll-up. Truly, given the list of ingredients in this particular menu option, I cannot imagine they added more than two thin strands of "sautéed green pepper" or a literal half-teaspoon of tomatoes or any other filling. And for the record, it tasted... well, yellow and orange. There was simply very little flavor, New Mexican or otherwise. Upon first review of the menu board, I thought "Cool! They're all only $5ish!" Upon first review of our goods, however, I realized they were actually pretty overpriced. To their credit, my 10-year-old enjoyed his steak burrito and said it was just as good as Twisters. He's only 10 though, and would say the same about Taco Bell. I'm sure there are plenty of folks who appreciate the simpler burritos in life, and that's perfectly respectable. I'm not sure when they started to reduce the size of the breakfast burritos but they are really skimpy. The burritos have been reduced from a very healthy portion, for the price, down to a paltry portion not even worthy of the visit. I believe it has to do with the person making them. The older woman would packed the flour tortilla full, with generous portions of egg, meat, potatoes and this kept customers returning over and over again. The younger woman is soo stingy with the portions, that I'm surprise that the location, 5659 Jefferson NE Ste F, is still open. These burritos are amazing! Imagine homemade flour tortilla with fresh eggs, perfectly made bacon, cheesy goodness, delicious potatoes, and the right heat of chile and you have the basics of a Burrito Express breakfast burrito! We first tried them via GrubHub thanks to a friend's recommendation. My husband is crazy picky when it comes to breakfast burritos and was really skeptical. He LOVED them and said it tastes like when his mom would make them! Highest praise EVER! They also have lunch burritos and plates! The location is super cute and definitely worth the stop. The prices are also really, REALLY affordable - especially for the quality! They close at 2PM but it's worth getting dinner to go for later. I was craving a breakfast burrito and my boyfriend wanted to try somewhere we haven't eaten before so we came to Burrito Express. The service was fast and friendly and the prices were comparable to other places I typically get breakfast burritos from. The burritos themselves were underwhelming and had no flavor which is why I'm giving 3 stars. My boyfriend had green chile with his burrito and I had red Chile with mine, we both agreed neither chile was hot at all and both had little flavor. I haven't been here in a while and got my usual plain asado burrito and it was about as thick at a 50 cent piece and most of it was tortilla overlapping multiple times and was a couple of dollars more than it used to be. I'm not sure where these reviews are coming from? This past Monday I attended a day-long workshop just down the street a piece and on lunch break I needed to step out real quick for a bite. Obviously I did not want to go far and this place was conveniently located, so in I stopped. Low and behold I'm the ONLY one there. This is usually a bit disconcerting to me, so I actually asked the counter guy. His response, "Most people just grab it to go." Ok, that makes sense, plus I'm a bit early for the main lunch crowd at about 11:30 ish, or so. So being it's my first time I ask him, "What's good? What do you recommend?" He just starts running down the basics and I put him out of his misery by saying, "Ok, Ok, just give me the steak combo and a bottled water." Easy enough right? And it was, damn near as soon as I sat down he brought it to me wrapped in tinfoil with one napkin and my water. No tray, no nothing, just the burrito and my water. Ok, no big deal, fine dining I was not expecting. Here's the glitch though: It wasn't wrapped like a normal burrito. You know, one end, or sometimes both, wrapped in so things do not fall out. It was just rolled, so it was oozing everywhere! Trust me, it took some creative eating to not make a huge mess, and I still spilled a lot onto my tinfoil plate. So naturally I go up to the counter to get a plastic spoon and ask for another napkin. He had to go into the back kitchen area to get me a napkin, as if they are kept under lock & key, what's up with that? The whole experience was just off! A few other customers did come in while I was there, but not many. The burrito itself? Meh, OK, certainly nothing to write home to Mom about (As if anyone still writes to mom these days? WRITE TO YOUR MOTHERS!!), but not horrendous either. Will I ever go back? I doubt it! read more

Went to Burrito Express this morning for the first time. Staff was pleasant enough. Decor seems out of place. Fox News blaring on the TV. I ordered the fajita burrito and I was really wanting to like it. It was a big disappointment. Chunks of boiled chicken, nearly raw onions and bell peppers, small amounts of lettuce, tomato, and guacamole. Ordered this today, I visit the Roswell location Everytime I'm out there which is alot, and gosh what a huge difference, Roswell has thick quality bacon, tasty red and green chili, fried potatoes just overall really delicious burrito, Albuquerque location was horrible, boiled potatoes, red chilli that tasted like water, thin cheap bacon, the tortillas weren't even homemade they were store bought or if they somehow were homemade they were made horribly wrong, I will never visit these locations again next time I want burrito express I'll wait until I go to Roswell read more

When asking around in MSP where we needed to eat in ABQ, Burrito Express was mentioned at least a handful of times. Burrito Express feels like you entered your uncle's (clean) garage, with their vintage tin signs. There was no line when we were there, around 9:00 am, so 3 of us ordered and sat down within 7 minutes. I personally ordered the Big Breakfast Burrito (Egg, Potatoes, Cheese, Asada and Chile) and the total was like, $5. I was anticipating this tiny burrito with no filling to be delivered. Don't get me wrong, this is a no frills burrito, but it doesn't need frills. The tortilla is clearly homemade and warmed to order - still thick and puffy upon your first bite. The fillings were so delicious, my mouth is still watering thinking about it 2 months later. But be careful because it does drip a bit and you want to savor every tidbit of flavor coming out of this thing. Easy parking, delicious food at a great value and quick service. read more

The place was clean and fast enough even on a Saturday morning. Not too much flavor though so make sure to get some Chile or extra Chile in your's. The burrito: steak, egg, potato, cheese, chile. Not impressed. The chile was very, very mild. Potatos weren't crispy, and the beef had that cheap beef flavor. It was frustrating enough today for me to write this review because I called them 20 minutes before closing and was unable to reach anyone to place an order. If you are open for business, then you should make yourself available until closing to assist customers. I called several times minutes apart and no answer.
