Love this place. Food is good and staff is friendly but for the love of God they need to get their hours straight. I've shown up a few times to find them closed during normal business hours. Such a waste of time. Makes me not want to come back because I don't know if they will be open or not.

I've heard lots of good things and people rave about this place on social media. Aside from the cool old school diner look and feel the food was very underwhelming. It's about it as good of a breakfast as you would be just as good as village inn or some other regular chain. I was hoping for it to be as good as people say online. The service was okay no issues there, overall the place is clean inside.

Come join Tom Neiman, Jim Tritten, and a few of the guys from the VA Creative Writing Group as we venture along historic Route 66 to Kap's Diner. A long-time favorite of New Mexicans, and travelers, this inconspicuous diner has great food, impeccable service, and a fine indoor eating environment. We recommend it and plan to return soon. What a difference a few years and pandemic make. The food and service were excellent. My coffee cup stayed full. The chorizo & egg were flavorful without the often accompanying grease. It was a meal without the hiccups of our first stop. While not a knock on the business the city's failure to rein in rampant and unchecked homelessness in the area may cause the faint hearted to pass Kap's by. Highlighting the problem a newly installed fence encircles the bldg and parking lot. It's unfortunate because you may pass by a great meal.

Found a new place to eat. Almost didn't go in because of the area but I'm glad I did! The ambiance took you back in time. Sooo yummy and the green chili tastes like my Mom used to make eggs cooked perfectly with a yummy homemade tortilla! Service was very fast and attentive! Definitely going back!

Great place for breakfast! My friends and I wanted to get together and have breakfast because lunch might have been too busy anywhere. This was a perfect choice. Great diner feel and wonderful service. I enjoyed the gravy very much! I'd love to come again for breakfast for sure!!

Absolutely love Kap's Coffee Shop. Delicious food, customer service, and a large menu. I love the New Mexican food. It's also an Albuquerque landmark. You can't go wrong with eating at a delicious restaurant that the regulars eat at.

Carne Adovada w/amazingly crispy hash browns....ask for it!

What a great and unexpected surprise! Fellow helpers have rated this diner pretty well and we were in the area yesterday so we gave it a try. First impression: nice fellow diners! People that held doors, said good morning and wished you a nice day. Next: the server. Most friendly person I've met in a long time. She was welcoming and genuinely seemed to like her job. The coffee never stopped coming and she checked in a just the right moments. Then the food: yum! Simple, well prepared and delicious. I got the carne adovada and eggs, but it was the hash brown that amazed me...may have been the best I've ever had. The backstory is that I usually avoid potatoes for breakfast because the a generally mushy and laden w/extra calories that I can spend elsewhere. I ordered the hash browns extra crispy and when it arrived, it actually was! I don't know how the cook did it, but it was super crispy all around and had a soft potato Center. See the pic for the visual. The BF had the skillet breakfast w/green and enjoyed it as well. We didn't get the signature cinnamon roll but I did have the cinnamon coffee and it was great. Reasonable prices- we both ate for $22! Totally a great ABQ find...wish we tried it sooner!

This is one of the "real deal" authentic New Mexican diners in Albuquerque, and if you can get past the fact that it smells like a memory care unit when you walk in, you will be delighted by the food. It's a weird sell, I feel ya. But if you're looking for the real stuff - Kap's has it. Get it Christmas. Order the extra sides. It's DELICIOUS and perfect and exactly how New Mexican food should be straight from abuelas kitchen. Staff is super friendly.

Why has it taken me 10 years to try this place??? Famous for its scenes in "BB" and "Better call Saul"...the food is nothing shy of what you'd expect, walking into this quintessential stellar coffe house - top shelf!! I was seriously blown away at how good everything was...and...rubber-necking the other food coming outta the kitchen only made me obsess over how soon could I come back??? I have a hunch the burgers here are stellar as well...any one want to comment?? Great service - great great food...what else is necessary to write?? Just go and enjoy. :D

This place definitely falls into the first category. This morning I went with the single origin Guatemala drip, and it was exactly what a solid cup of coffee should be. Smooth, rich, and balanced with a nice chocolate note that hangs around just long enough to make you take another sip. No bitterness. No burnt taste. Just a clean, well-roasted cup that says someone here actually cares about the beans. The shop itself has a personality, which I always appreciate. It's decorated with fishing lures, fish artwork, and sculptures scattered around the place. Naturally this leads to the obvious conclusion: the owner is either an avid fisherman... or coffee roasting is just the side hustle between trout expeditions. Either way, the theme works. The space feels relaxed, creative, and comfortable. The kind of place where you can sit with a cup and not feel rushed out the door. And speaking of doors, while I was there there was a steady flow of customers coming in and out. That's usually the universal coffee signal for yep, this place is doing something right. Bottom line: Great coffee, cool atmosphere, and a shop with enough character to keep things interesting. I'll definitely be back for another cup of that Guatemala.

There is ample seating both inside and outside, had I not had my toddler with me I would have loved to sit out front but it is right by the road so a no go with a rambunctious little boy... There is additional outside seating to the side and farther from the road too. I look forward to my next trip.

It's my local coffee shop where they know my name and my order as soon as I walk in. I also love the atmosphere here even though it is often crowded. It's a great place to get some work done, or to meet a friend to chat. Literally the only issue I have with them is their new ordering/card reader system. It's often down, which results in long lines, long waits, and stressed out baristas. Also, their it's tied to their loyalty program, so when I go there and their system is down, I don't get points.
