Neither my wife nor I cared for the drip coffee, so we asked a staff member if we could swap it out for double espressos. We ended up eating inside since the patio tables were either occupied or unavailable (due to a sleeping homeless person). I haven't been here since they moved to the new spot and renamed. Guess it's been quite a while (Waffletopia now). Anyway, I was super excited to try their blue corn waffles. I had to pick between savory and sweet, and the menu is huge with lots of options plus build your own! I went for savory and got it with goat cheese and spinach (built my own). It was delightful. The blue corn is just a tinge sweet so was an interesting mix. The waffle is a decent size but is super filling and dense. I'll have to try some sweet waffles or some different waffle bases next time! That said there are lots of gluten free options as well, so if that's for you, then don't hesitate to come check it out you won't be disappointed. There is indoor and outdoor seating, though in general the place is small-ish and can get crowded during busy times. Parking is also a bit of an adventure, but so is anywhere in that area. The latte was honestly great--it was super smooth, flavorful, and had the perfect balance of sweetness and cinnamon. Definitely something I would come back for. The waffle, on the other hand, was a bit disappointing. It came out cold, which took away from the overall experience. It had some flavor, especially from the blueberries and the unique blue corn base, but it felt a little flat overall. The butter that came with it was really good though, and once I added it, it definitely helped improve the taste. My friends also ordered waffles, and unfortunately theirs were kind of cold as well and didn't have much flavor either, so it didn't seem like it was just mine. That said, I've been here before and remember everything tasting much better, so I don't think this is their usual standard--this visit just seemed like an off day. The space has little spots to sit inside and out. All servers, from the counter to the waitresses were also chill and friendly. For the food, we both ordered the chicken and waffles with blue corn waffles. The hubs had a great idea and we both got a side of green chile. Yes, we made a green chile chicken and waffles with soft blue corn waffles, crispy and tasty pieces of chicken. The maple syrup and butter paired up well. But the green chile made everything much more bright and perfect. Overall, our experience was excellent. The only thing we would have changed, we did because they had green chile available. When you enter, you order at the counter, and the restaurant has a cozy, house-like feel with seating both inside and in a lovely courtyard out back. I've come here multiple times & have had this order before; it's always had fresh strawberries. Food itself was good but the wait for the food was very long about 45m on a Thursday. When we arrived there was no line. We were not sure what to order since it was our first time visiting. I opted to try a savory waffle the Ranchero with Christmas chile and a side of bacon. My cousin had the strawberries and cream. Prices are a bit high for my liking but the food is filling. We sat outside which had more seating than inside. There were plenty of spots with shade. We had to grab our own silverware, water and napkins before siting so kinda like a carry out place. The staff would wander the area to deliver food orders but since the seating is spread out they sometimes made circles around the restaurant. As we saw the staff circling they kept skipping our table and we were worried they forgot our food or something happened. We noticed a few other people didn't have food either and figured they were there before us. We waited and waited....I got anxious at the 30m mark and by this time there was a line of people waiting to order and I wanted to ask about our order but didn't want to get in line just to ask on status. Eventually our food came out we were so hungry we almost left to another place down the road. The food was good but not sure if it was because we were hungry or that it was actually good. I later read online that this is typical so beware and be ready to wait a long time for your meal. They either need more waffle makers or do something in the kitchen to make things faster. read more

I didn't have anything that made me feel like I would crave it again. There was a line out the door with limited seating inside and outside. While waiting in line it was difficult because the servers were trying to balance food and get in and out of the restaurant. I found Tia B's to be very middle of the road. I had the "salmon & lox" savory waffle. The name is redundant, as lox is cured salmon, but that's neither here nor there. The dill sauce came on the side and I had to use quite a bit of it to give the meal a bit of flavor. The food is great. Getting in has been a challenge for us. Because of work being done in our house on Mondays, we tend to go out for breakfast during that time. We've been down to Tia B's and when we've gotten in, the food has been fantastic. I've had some sweet version of the regular waffle, as well as the best fried chicken ever. , with a hash brown waffle which was heavenly. Spouse Unit loves the blue corn waffles, and all would be well except for our timing!! I do not recommend going down on a holiday, as the lines were out to the street. One time we were told the wait would be over an hour because two of the cooks did not show up. Another time, they were closed because of some electrical problem. I think there was a 3rd time in the past year that we couldn't get in because of some problem, so my husband (who hates driving to/in that part of town--NOT their fault) has completely given up on the place. And now I see that they're closed on Mondays, so this place is no longer an option anyhow. Bummer. I did love the food and I'm sure I will find an excuse to try again. I just hope to get luckier with access to their wonderful kitchen and seating (and parking, too). It's really worth it. read more

Experiencing Albuquerque for the first time in adulthood, and my first experience in Nob Hill, this spot was a must try. Near the University, our weekend visit brought like company, plenty of students alongside a few families, and a handful of dog parents. Needless to say, the line was LONG for this counter order and sit spot, and once in front the goal was clear- get 'em in and out. However, once we finally ordered we were rewarded with an abundance of beautiful outdoor seating options, some alongside fresh lavender bushes, plenty of benches brushed by rays of sunshine, and some seating kissed by both sun and bamboo. We choose the final seating option (with a small window into the kitchen). Don't get me wrong, once seated the service was great, but after the wait, we were expecting some exceptional waffles! After more waiting, our waffles finally arrived! And 2/3 were...just okay. My partner got the scramble, because when in New Mexico, green chilies are a must. Sadly it was, just okay. I, as a representative Black ordered that chicken and waffles, which was honestly pretty dang solid! Large juicy white meat tenders fried to perfection, and appropriately salted, alongside a thick, crisp yet soft centered waffle. They don't skimp on the chicken! 0 complaints. As our treat, we also ordered the blue corn blueberry waffle with lavender whipped cream. I'll say this, being from Houston it was incredibly exciting to see restaurants (this one included) incorporate the bustling lavender bushes that grow on their properties into their entrees. The lavender whipped cream tasted like lavender whipped cream, something I've yet to experience elsewhere. Other than that, this waffle was too sweet for our tastes and the blue corn meal texture added a grit that I'm sure works for savory dishes but, definitely took from this sweet creation. I feel awful saying this, but after two bites, we realized this waffle wasn't for us, and had to leave it behind. Apart from our waffles, my lips tingling for some advertised blood orange black iced tea, I was sad to find there was none- ice tea that is. I wonder if it'd be effective (and help folks in line make their decisions sooner), if these items were crossed off of the wall menu when no longer available? A non-chain restaurant located in a cozy home-like environment. A plant-laden white deck welcomes visitors. Out back is a covered patio enclosed by green plants. There was even a room with a play area for kids. The three little ones had fun cooking in the kids-size kitchen. A wide selection of toppings for perfect-sized waffles. My granddaughter had goat cheese and cherries. I had Elvis's favorite toppings, peanut butter, bananas, and bacon. The three little ones had the child-size waffle topped with canned whipped topping and strawberries. We cleaned our plates. We all enjoyed a glass of cold water with our meal. Then I looked around for where I placed our order and I easily found it. *It was right in front* Ordering So then I ordered the item "Just buttermilk and cream", and then I asked for a side of syrup and bacon. And I got an orange juice for my drink. Then I walked down to the patio, it had lots of greenery. Which was nice because the patio wasn't so exposed, and it had some sort of glass which blocked out the sun which also was very nice. And they gave me my orange juice right when I ordered it which was different in a good way. The Drink So I found a table where I sat down and sipped my drink ,unfortunately the drink was a bit cooler than room temperature. But I wanted it to be colder than it was, however the plastic that they used was hard and secure which felt nice in my hands. And at the near end of my experience it was getting pulp in it which was not pleasant. The Service My food came out in about 4 - 8 minutes. The food And when it did come out it looked really good. It was a big belgium waffle which had tons of whipped cream and strawberry slices, and the bacon looked nice. My first bite was of the bacon, unfortunately it was a lot more chewy then I liked my bacon. And then I grabbed my fork and cut a piece of my waffle, dipped it in some syrup, and then I took a bite. It was AMAZING, it was sweet but not too sweet. The syrup with the softness of the waffle was so good, and the waffle was easy to cut. The VALUE So what I got with the item was a big belgian waffle, lots of whipped cream, and over 15 strawberry slices for $10. I would say it's worth it. And I am pretty sure that I've seen smaller waffles items for the same price at other restaurants. Conclusion Overall, It was a Really good experience. Good value, Great food, Great service, and an okay drink. I would go back to Waffletopia. I've been here a few times and usually get a sweet waffle but today I tried the salmon lox waffle, which comes on a potato latke waffle. The serving of lox it came with was generous enough to justify it being one of the pricier options and it went really well with the dill crema and all those good salty little capers! Visited Tia B's Waffleria during a recent trip to Albuquerque and was super impressed with both the quality of offerings and wide selection of waffles that can be made. As someone who definitely loves savory foods more than sweet, waffles are usually not high on my list, but this place shows there's way more to waffles than the usual. You order up at the front with the cashier and you can grab a menu to choose a pre-designed waffle or you can choose to build your own. I asked the cashiers a few questions about what to get and they were very helpful. I ultimately decided to order the Salmon Lox Waffle. The server brought out our food super quickly. This waffle was absolutely unreal. A huge portion of lox, a delicate dill sauce, some refreshing lemon and savory pancakes - I was in heaven eating this meal, it was fantastic. The vibe is definitely very casual here, and it was extremely hot inside with the fans not doing too much to help so definitely keep that in mind when coming here, maybe wait for a cooler day outside. I tried their #LavenderHoneyLatte dusted with red Chile power and it was delicious but perfection was their #SalmonLoxWaffle with #PotatoLatkeWaffle, dill cream, capers, red onions, arugula, tomatoes (Tell me where in SoCal I can get this!). This was my foodie highlight of my 11 day roadtrip through 8 states. Highly recommend. I think it was also the highlight of my friends foodie experience. So the wife found this spot while we were on a road trip heading east. She wanted breakfast and we do what she says. so we went. ;-) I'm so thankful that she did. This is a cool little waffle shack built in an old house on the outskirts of a residential district. The menu is small but covers a lot of area with both sweet and savory options. You can customize the batter of your waffles, as well as the toppings that come with it, if you wish. For seating, they have some interior seating inside the restaurant with more seating outside in the form of picnic benches some of which are covered. Parking can be, be a little tight because it shares a parking lot with a yarn store. There is some parking on the street, but you might have to park a little ways away in order to get there if they are busy. I have to say it's definitely worth it. I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken was perfectly cooked and had good flavor. The waffle was nice and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Came with the side of syrup and some butter. They also have a variety of hot sauces and some ketchup to go with your chicken if you feel like you need it. The wife had the special of the day which was basically a buttermilk waffle with blueberries, fresh whipped cream and lemon curd on it. She said it was delicious and it looked very, very good. I'll post a picture of it if I can. As for the service, they were very friendly and super help very friendly very efficient. They brought the food out to us at the table. I think the only time I've eaten waffles is when I was kid and that's it. But Tia B's definitely changed my perspective on it. Make sure you come early, cause the line definitely builds up fast. I ended up getting the blueberry waffle with a lavender whip cream. It was delicious. I loved the light flaky crunch it had, and the blueberry sauce was not overwhelming at all. It was perfectly sweet and balanced. I also thought the whip cream was good too. The lavender wasn't strong at all, and the light floral notes made the waffle taste even better. My friends also ordered different waffles dishes and they can all attest that their dishes definitely hit the spot. We all pretty much got a waffle dish.
