The Rattlesnake - two cheese enchiladas with two eggs, hash browns and beans; side of bacon was separate.

Upgrading my review of Vick's Vittles Country Kitchen by a star, because the food we were served on yesterday's visit was again notably delicious and piping hot. However - no fault of the restaurant - the area has gotten "challenged" enough that I have a hard time finding friends who are willing to come. I've been coming here for years, since before Mr. Vick took over and vastly improved this down-home restaurant. We used to bring friends here often: it's an approachable menu for out-of-town guests and the no fuss space with kitschy decor that puts everyone at ease. Nowadays I have difficulty getting anyone to come (although I note Vick's Vittles still appears to be doing a bang-up business with lots of folks coming all the time) along with me. Sure the lot has always proven safe, but the terrible location has gotten even worse (not going to go into the issues - we all know them). Nowadays when I suggest Vick's, I'm usually shot down by someone in the group because of this. The serving size and pricing are fine - a value, even, and the food we were yesterday served was tasty and hot. While Vick's chile has always been a little less picante than in many local places, what I got yesterday (after requesting the spicy stuff) was perfectly legitimate. And the other stuff on the plates was done just right. The staff is still efficient and hustling, smiling all the while. They'll get you seated and take care of you fast. If you can handle the drive through the challenged area, your car should be safe in the lot and you'll enjoy the meal at Vick's Vittles.

Saturday morning breakfast at this spot was great! Rough neighborhood but fantastic food!! The service was awesome; everyone was so kind and welcoming. My coffee was always be topped off even for a busy Saturday. Got the cowboy burrito with the green chili gravy and loved every bite. It was huge but still manageable for one person. I'll be back for sure and will recommend to anyone needing a solid Saturday morning breakfast.

We had a hearty brunch at this cute little restaurant while visiting Albuquerque. It's a cozy space that was nicely decorated for the holidays. The food was made and served with generous amount of butter and syrup and everything we ordered (waffle, French toast, pumpkin pecan pancakes) was sweet and delicious. Service was ok and restroom was a little dirty.

Service was a little slow, and the restroom could use some updating, but the food at Vick's Vittles is on point! We both had the Santa Fe breakfast - two eggs, a choice of bacon, ham, or sausage, and three blue corn pancakes filled with green chile, cheddar-jack cheese, and roasted piñons. Our eggs were fried just right and the pancakes were fantastic, with just enough heat from the chile to balance the sweet syrup. Delicious!

We discovered this ABQ gem when we first moved here. And even though its across town from where we live, we keep coming back for the delicious food and great service. The menu is large but has something for everyone. My go to's are the Southwest Benedict (spicy cheese sauce instead of hollandaise sauce...ummm yes please) , the Carne Adovada (NM spicy...like Thai spicy but better) and the Country Breakfast (country fried steak for breakfast? Because why not). For the kid in me, I always start with the hot chocolate (with whipped cream, of course).

This place was very clean and busy for a Monday. We were pleasantly surprised by how clean it was; very well kept. The food was good and as advertised. Service was quick. You can tell they have a lot of locals who dine here on the regular.

I joined a friend here for lunch on July 28, 2025. There is good signage, and plenty of parking. Staff was friendly and we were seated right away. The decor is casual. The menu has many nice comfort food choices. I had half a tuna salad sandwich with a salad and enchilada soup. As the picture shows, the sandwich had many layers; further the tuna salad had a very nice flavor. The soup overall had a nice flavor and refreshing crunch on the top with the tortilla chips. Prices are reasonable.

So, where did the boys (and one girl) go for lunch this week? A place that one of the members requested often in a past life. And a place that was new for some others in the group. Join us as we report on the excellent food, efficient service, and enough tchotchkes to make you walk the rooms to look at all the stuff on the wall. An Albuquerque favorite, and now one of ours. This is a picture of a $10 senior breakfast. Very disappointed not only at the service which took 30 minutes but The quality of the food. The potatoes were very scarce and hard and dry. I ordered a flour tortilla on the side which within a few minutes got cold and hard. Crispy bacon was well over done. They did keep the coffee cup filled. Will not go back.

Well smoked, dang flavorful BBQ from da ABQ Slow Smoked BBQ truckie dude!!…read more Brisket Sammie came loaded to toppling high with carne rich in smokiness & melt on your tongue tender texture. Hugeness of portion!!!! BBQ sauce brought a nice punchy kick to the tower o' meat sammie. Only demerit was lack of much bark on the meat in my sandwich. Buddy's sliced brisket sandwich, which was equally massive, showed *lots* of bark. So if you're a Barky BBQ Boi, sliced brisket will be your jam from ABQ Slow Smoked BBQ as opposed to the chopped brisket that seems to be the default brisket sandwich filling. BBQ beans were on par with the sandwich. Multiple varieties of beans swimming in a semi-sweet & tangy sauce. Shreds of smoked meat added their pungence to the mix. A dish that makes eating your veggies mighty tasty!! Pickled veggies, particularly the carrots, offered bright clean taste to counterbalance the pungence of the meat & beans. Hit up this mobile emporium of tastiness at Marble Heights Brewpub or anywhere else around town they might be spotted. Well worth the price of admission!

How has this food truck not been reviewed yet??…read more I'll be honest, I have been burned by bbq food trucks before. But there's just something about them that every time I see them, I have to try it. We were heading to Costco, ready to lunch on a hotdog when we saw the food truck in the parking lot (closer to the sports store). The smoker attached to truck, the charming way the menu was laid out and with two people already in line, it was calling to me. The two people in line were munching on a beef rib that I'm sure he gave to them to try during the wait. The guy closest to me...the meat looked so juicy. So I said to him "man that looks so good" and all he could muster was a shake of his head, like "you have no idea". The first guy ordered and really was insistent on paying more money...(he wanted drinks but they were included in the sandwich price so he was like, well fine then, let me buy two more waters). The guy who I talked to about the rib? When he gets to the window, he said he wanted one of everything! Yeeeees. I have a hard time not ordering nachos anytime I come across them, so I got the nachos with brisket and the picky eater got the brisket sandwich with coleslaw for the side. When he took a bite, he said it was "damn good." Pretty good review from the picky eater. The sandwich also came with pickles, and pickled onions, carrots and a jalapeño, all of which were amazing. Perfectly crunchy and sour. The nachos were great, made even better by the pickled veggies (cause I stole those from him). And the bbq sauce with the brisket was just perfect. We stood in the line under the hot sun and it was tooooootally worth it. I overheard him tell one of the customers that he tries to get out to that spot at least twice a week.

A bit of a drive, but worth it if you are looking for tried and true barbecue with a great view…read more Lots of free parking. No waiting at around 1pm on a Saturday. We were seated and got drinks quickly. I got a half rack of pork ribs with a side salad and coleslaw, and the person I was with got a full rack with coleslaw and mac and cheese. The side salad was good, and came before the meal. A variety of dressings were available and was served on the side. The coleslaw was the creamy kind (instead of vinegar) and was good as well. The ribs were tender and generously sized. Even with the half rack I ended up taking some home. I wasn't a huge fan of the bbq sauce served on the side but they had a great rub on them so they didn't really need sauce. They also had a full drink menu, complete with local beers and 30 oz margaritas. Overall, a hearty lunch in a great location.

The texture was excellent, though the brisket itself was slightly cooler than I would have preferred. It may have been because how cold it was inside the restaurant that day. The sausages were a highlight for me. They were flavorful. If you prefer your meat more lightly seasoned, you might find it a bit salty, but I personally enjoyed the bold flavor. Their homemade bread was soft with a subtle sweetness, but it just wasn't as fresh as I had expected. I would probably stick with the complimentary bread on my next visit. I would definitely recommend the baked potato. I wouldn't recommend the fries or the beans.

I personally found that the price/value for the amount and quality of food Nomad's bbq provides is well worth it. I had a pulled pork sandwich (plus a bit of brisket and the 2 sides that I couldn't resist trying to save for my next meal) and thought the meat was smokey, jiving and so scrumptious...and this is coming from someone who normally doesn't eat so much meat like myself! Overall, I really like that Theo seems passionate about making the food that he serves. Plus, it doesn't hurt that this bbq type of food tastes so good..and is so rare to find ABQ, too.
